Travel / Re: General USA Student Visa Enquiries-part 17 by esosa4real(m): 12:23pm On Feb 19, 2023
Hello, my bro applied for a Master in Mechanical Engineering at Louisiana and just received his 1-20 for an August 16th resumption. He wants to know how early he can start the visa application to enable him getting a visa appointment in Lagos.

We have forgotten how the system works and want to learn from the experiences and trends of others here. When should he start the application online? (April, May, June or July)? What does the US embassy recommend?

Thanks.

I have been looking for how to connect with doctors over there! Never knew there was a group. I'm already post AOR though, "enjoying" the long silence from IRCC. Maybe I could benefit from the already existing group? I'm shadaz01 on telegram. Thank you!

God bless you too. Glad you done waka far. Sorry main group is full and we are waiting for everyone in that group to be settled "medical career wise" before we know how to make another & help wella.

So in the meantime, i have added u to the pre-ppr group, so u may benefit from the admins.

All the best.

It's actually possible with some banks. We have been doing it since the early days of EE till now. I don;t know if CIBS offers this.

it's been a longtime since i walked this threads!! I wish everyone seeking PR a complete success. Trust me, you are making the right decision.

Meanwhile, I yaff come to pack our beloved Dokitors in the house, i.e those who need guidance oh on the EE journey smiley

Our main doctor's group which is over 3 years now is full with everyone settled in Canada. So we are thinking of making a new group strictly for Nigerian Doctors seeking ITA.

Nah my own contribution be that, if interested send me your telegram ID, Godbless!

Hello guys, is it possible to apply for express entry when you're a Nigerian living in the UK?

I got a post-graduate visa to the UK, but my end goal is to finally get a Canadian PR. So, is it possible to enter the pool or apply from the UK?

Yes it's very very possible. Lotta Nigerians now in canada did that!!

Travel / Re: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 19 by esosa4real(m): 12:23pm On Aug 02, 2021
Greetings my people, Please I need some help and guidance for my juniour bro. He is also on the thread and doing his findings. I saw his post but i think he is not asking the right questions.

He is a first class Mech Engineering graduate and currently working with an International engineering firm in Lagos. PR is the ultimate goal because I am in Canada and we are working on that, however I want him to apply to a UNI for him as backup. (Wes done, IELTS on the way so it's a win/win situation).

1. Please what schools will readily give him admission into a master in Mech engineering or related courses like Automation etc. for 2022 Academic year.
2. Does anyone have an idea of schools that may offer scholarships, E.g partial (So we target such schools)?
3. He is writing General IELTS for PR waka, but does he need Academic IELTS for Canadian schools? I have been seeing posters mention it. I thought we had jumped this hurdle already as Nigerians. (There is this english result we usually send...but I am not so sureif it's all uni that accepts it.)
4. Do you advice he goes for Masters or a PG cert course. (because honestly, Master's don't sell here like before, except for some few careers, it's usually diploma and PGC that does employment wonders, but then again, I dread that route for visa conviction).
5. Just advise us biko, any tips will be appreciated.

I am a strong believer of Nairaland as I got my own Canadian PR and previous Visas to different countries on this resourceful website. So i know how powerful the interactions here can help shapen one's life If one is ready to READ. I have also been able to impact on others in other Canadian threads on this website. Please help point me in the right directions, so I do the necessary readings as regards possible schools.

Finally, since I am here in CA, if there is any way I can help with information, please let me know. (Information is power).

My people, pls is there anyone whose parents came into Canada lately?

My MIL is coming in soon and want to find out if y'all have any latest info on what she should do.

For example is covid19 test required?

Heard they are to download an APP, can I do it for her instead?

In the listening test there is no room for errors in spelling and mixing up singular/plural words . That’s probably why you scored 7.5

You'll get a mail from VFS stating that the decision envelop for your application has been received and is ready for collection. When you get the mail, you can call VFS or chat with them requesting for instructions on how to pay for their courier delivery service. You'll be sent another mail containing their account details, courier request form and other instructions.

Try to call again or send a mail to feedback.cannig@vfshelpline.com. They'll definitely respond.

Thanks Pamela. Pls how much did you pay for courier.

Did u pick up from courier or at home

Brw, did you ever use the buy services feature on the vfs website ?

During my last ielts in September, I could actually swear that I got just one question wrong and when the result came out I had. 7.5 in listening, 7.5 Fam!

Ideally it's not possible except if there was a marking error.

Listening is objective and not subjective like writing.

Anything below 8 in listening means rewriting and to get 8 in listening thats 35-36 or so .

Yeah made a mistake. Since modified em.

The person truly needs a minimum 8 in listening. So can't fail more than 4 questions

hi guys have you seen the news making headlines?

Now they are blaming the ENDSARS protest and Covid 19

Please am begging if you have money just travel out of this country or better still look for a good business to be doing.

Canada is still much open and this is the best time to start processing your Visa if you have not started.

For more information on how to process your visa without spending money on agent visit the site below

I wrote the IELTS exam yesterday shocked
Mehn! It was tough. Sadly I got distracted in the listening and missed some questions. I'm so angry with myself.
As for the writing, it was a race against time. I didn't have time to correct errors. I could see them but we had already been asked to drop our pencils.
I think I did well in the reading aspect while the speaking was just okay.
I wrote with MOD/IDP.
I'm keeping my fingers crossed and hope that I scale through.

I can imagine.
For listening, keep fingers crossed, bearing in mind that it would take you to fail atleast 4 questions to fail (below 8 points).

For writing, i pray you get above 6 5. Because its advised to always finish up and check for errors once you hear "5 mins remaining".

It's actually this unchecked error that cuts marks and reduces the points.

Please let us know when you pass. It is well.

Oh my, its been ages!!

I remember when I use to traffic this page daily, when hustling my UK visa as a med student.
I later got the visa and since visited several countries.

I learnt all my travel visa applications from this Nairaland (God bless Seun) I am now a personal guru

My advise to those applying, always go back to read through the thread. Your circumstance has likely been discussed in detailed before or use the search button.

The likes of @Justwise were so helpful. God bless you and wondering if you are still active here.

Hi all, my mum applied for visiting Visa in June. She hasnt been able to go and give her biometrics yet. I've been trying to schedule appointments since June but there hasnt been any success. Pls is there anyway around it?. She was going to come help me with delivery and my baby... I would really appreciate a response.

Ah since June?

My wife was in similar situation as she was pregnant and wanted her mum, but her mum has since done biometrics on August 24

We had applied in July but Covid19 had close vfs.
Please whats the problem now because the vfs has been open since August ooh, and booking biometrics has been possible since the weekend before that date.

Without biometrics, your application won't proceed.

Hello!

My Mother-in-Law’s TRV application just got approved, so I have the following questions;

1. Can she submit her passport at VFS Lagos in person?
2. For those who have gotten the visa in recent times too, how many years did you get?

Thank you!
I can only answer first part because my mum is yet to get her PP back

She submitted her passport at the DHL close to the vfs. PHYSICAL SUBNISISONS are no longer allowed at the vfs because of covid19

So simply tell her to take her pp, pp biodata page, letter sent by cic in account plus transmission slip given to her earlier after she did biometrics to DHL
