mctfopt:He actually has a 4.8kwh set up viz 200ah*24v. Assuming he adopts the 50% DoD rule, which of course we know as a beginner won't be adhered to let's just work it for him with it. Meaning he has to fill in 2.4kwh after every use. He claims to have 1040w of panels, we don't know if the MPPT is utilising all or its wasting the excesses. Still assuming he uses all, time to charge the system would be 2400wh/1040w= 2.3hrs. In solar you approximate upwards and that becomes 3hrs. Actually that is just a little short of an average daily solar harvest. Also, this only works if battery won't be used all day while it charges. When you deplete below 50% DoD, you won't be able to fill up the bank in one day. Too many inefficiencies and losses doesn't make this look like an effective system. My 20kobo. |
JaySterling:Please and please never disconnect your battery from the charge controller while it is still connected to solar panels. This is the only place I see where they it will not fry your controller. From my small knowledge it will fry it sharp sharp. Wait till night fall and go view your voltage then, at least no normal charge from solar. Also ensure you do it when electric charging too is not ongoing, meaning when there is no light. I hope this helps. For now just save the chart and refer back to it from time to time to draw up your own battery profile. |
JaySterling:Don't trust voltage readings while charge is going on. The current passing through the batteries actually distorts this. Once you disconnect and allow to settle (that's the rested state the other guy with the chart talked about) you'll see they will drop to their real level. And I can guarantee you it won't be more than what the chart says. |
JaySterling:This chart is for Lead Acid batteries which I want to believe yours are too. 28v for Lead Acid is a big fallacy. Sorry, your installer don deceive you. |
kadorzy:It is not an electrical set up. Has nothing to do with your inverter. You just buy, mount and link up with your existing water line. Saves you cash on hot water bills. |
kadorzy:Try solar water heater. It's not advisable to put your water heater on inverter whether they charge fast or not. Just my 2 kobo. |
JaySterling:One of the things no one will tell you especially Nigerian installers is you have to over size your system to take care of redundancies and inefficiencies. Over sizing systems cost money and once told people run away from it when told the cost. But from your explanation, if your batteries are good and new then your system is actually under-sized. You need to work on it. Also, it's bad running your batteries till they turn off. Kills them faster. Try 50% always mentioned here for Lead Acid batteries. With that sha your inverter for don off since afternoon ![]() |
mctfopt:I am at this stage when it comes to Lithium, no vex. Me too will soon catch up to all the phrases cos I've never used WiFi or USB for any of my inverters before. But of course, we learn everyday. |
mctfopt:You have been of good help. I am very grateful. |
mctfopt:Thanks bro, when I actually set out to planning the new system I wanted to use an hybrid (I've never used it before) but was quick to realise it does not have the grid supply cut off functionality to the house. What I mean is my plan is to use grid and solar to charge my batteries while the batteries feed the house 24-7. With hybrid (same with inverters with charging function) when NEPA comes they cut off and supply NEPA to the house, I don't want that. So I will be buying my equipment individually viz inverter, charger, MPPT. Also, my latest inverter that has served me 5yrs with no issue came without charger. So I feel they last longer if separated. But I will be ordering this charger you highlighted here. Hope I can use for both 24v and 48v systems. |
mctfopt:Thanks for taking the time out to attend to me. All the batteries I bought for my new Lithium set up are used so to get hold of their spec sheet go hard oo. I have modules from Nissan Leaf, BYD & 38120 coming in. I know the operational voltages I want to set these at but presently don't know the charger amperage to be used. If you can advice on a charger to add to my cart I'll be grateful. Surprised to hear there are CC that don't fry up when they have input but no output. This is my first time of hearing it as I've always tried to prevent such situations. Can you advise respected CC for Lithium too? Thanks once again. |
Good morning all, while I'm not new to inverters and solar this will be my first time venturing into Lithium batteries and its affiliates. I will be discussing my proposed new set up in a future post, presently all batteries are on transit into the country. For now I will really like to pick your knowledge on 2 pertinent issues I still don't have resolved. Even YouTube is really not answering them for me. 1) What's the type of electrical charger I need to invest on for a 24v and 48v system. Most YouTube guys use MPPT to charge their set ups and the ones that manage to venture into electrical charging only mention DC to DC chargers or little amps chargers to build up their batteries. 2) I don't really understand much about the BMS or its need but what I want to ask is its disconnect function during charging. If it disconnects my MPPT from charging the batteries won't that spoil the CC? As those guys don't tolerate solar connection with nothing to discharge into. Also, can ePever (my present CC) be programmed to give same absorption and float charge? I learnt that technique on this forum. Thanks as you help a brother out. |
https://057tech.com/solar This is inspirational.....but its gonna cost some good bar, as in damn real good bar. |
Bishop1monte:Like I said it was bought salvage. See the attached pictures and try appreciate the work out in to make it looking as it is today.
|
Bishop1monte:I bought it with shipping down was like 1m then another 400k to clear. Just remember this was way back 2013, before the skyrocketing of car prices in naija due to Dollar jump. Now repairs added let's some up everything at 2m. It was a good deal for me at the time and if I am to live it all over again I will buy the car every time. |
Hello @bishop1monte, I saw your post and quickly logged on to see if my little personal experience can help you decide. I bought a salvage 2004 F150 in 2013 and I am still driving it up till now. Reason I bought it was majorly for long distance hauling and it has not disappointed me as we speak. I am not saying it has done 6yrs without repairs oo. Of course it is a mechanical object and repairs are part of it bought the parts are readily available especially in Ojuelegba, Lagos. I full street dedicated to American cars and parts. Anyway, I try to love-vendor mine from time to time oo and it's my most beloved car to date. Attached are the AT tyres and latest F150 wheels I just installed as the latest love-vendor. If you like the car go for it. Ford are the best world renowned truck manufacturers, I doubt if you can go wrong choosing them. If you want I can attach the salvage pictures from 6yrs ago maybe it would further help you appreciate how strong these trucks are and what this one actually went through to be here today.

The owner of this ride go collect 5m? |
HsLBroker:I didn't know the frame is now different from the casement itself. Many years ago I was told it is for sliding windows alone that you do frame before the window. Thanks for the information though. Window counis and welder for burglary proof just left my site and both asked for windows to be completed before they can work so I will be pushing my window plan forward in front of everything including plastering just as you have advised. |
I hope you know Toks of this car is not as expensive as this anymore. |
For casement windows do you plaster and dress before is done or window frame must be in place before the dressing is used to hold it firmly? |
Ladyjblinks, love love your adverts. But this Odo says 555km. Just wondering the nearest port to Sokoto that is within this mileage. Just my thought sha. Happy sales. |
Chigodo just wan show himself.......because he don manage to buy phone wey get better scammer now we no go hear word again. Issorite!!!!! Sha do leave Gazzuzz alone, na austerity cos the Orijin matter......if you know you know. |
niggi4life:Nigeria became democratic. |
sheypian:Thanks my brother. The cost of diesel has never been a problem for me. Whatever it is it beats the petrol hassles. I have promised myself I'll get so no shakes. |
Hello OP and thanks for the insight. Please I have a question if you can only take a little of your time to answer. Why are diesel private cars not much in Nigeria and readily discouraged. Late last year I wanted to buy a family car and had hoped for a diesel GL but was put off by my mechanic. He made assertions from no good mechanics for it to bad diesel in filling stations everywhere. Also, looking for naija used or even tokunbo diesel GL on every available naija sale site came out with no result. I personally still have interest in it and will one day acquire it. Even if na only me dey drive am for the whole Nigeria no problem. Thanks. |
2016 is an entirely different shape. |
Yababoy:Love this topic. I'm doing one for myself too but so surprised why there are many naija used in the market. So I went to YouTube to find out more about it. Saw a woman lamenting about buying it, swore never to drive a Benz again because of it. But she also advised that the 2007-2008 were just the problematic ones, others are better. I like the car myself but presently in limbo about still going for it as the 2009 and above are beyond my budget. Also the car remains expensive. |
stevenadelowo:How much is this? |
Can you help me check out a 2009-2010 GL450 to Nigeria? |
Where is it located in PH. And if its your shop kindly start it and snap the dashboard showing the mileage and any error light. Thanks. |
coolcatty:Hmmm.......problematic? |
