July 2026 is the crunch month for *NIIRA 2025* — the Nigerian Insurance Industry Reform Act. *What’s happening with NIIRA right now:* - *Hard deadline: July 30, 2026*. NAICOM has said repeatedly there will be no extension. - *New minimum capital*: Life = N10bn, Non-life = N15bn, Composite = N25bn, Reinsurers = N35bn. That’s up from N2bn/N3bn/N10bn before. - *12-month window*: The clock started July 31, 2025 when President Tinubu signed it. - *What’s at stake*: Firms that don’t meet it by July 30 face licence withdrawal, forced consolidation, or other regulatory action. *Why insurance stocks are in focus this month:* 1. *Capital raises + M&A activity*: 6 insurers are reportedly approaching the capital market to raise ~N60bn. SUNU, Linkage, Veritas Kapital, Regency Alliance have already sought shareholder approvals. Expect more rights issues, private placements, or merger news before July 30. 2. *Survivors vs. exits*: Estimates say 17-21 firms are already above the new thresholds on FY 2024 accounts. Another ∼18 have plans on file, but a dozen are in a “red zone”. NAICOM + Big Four auditors are verifying by end-June. 3. *Consolidation premium*: NAICOM says recapitalisation should create stronger, larger firms that can underwrite bigger risks and attract investment. Markets often price in that “stronger balance sheet” story ahead of the deadline. 4. *Policy tailwinds*: NIIRA also mandates 60-day claims settlement with N500,000 fines for delays. That’s meant to boost public trust + penetration, which is still <1% of GDP. *“Pleasant surprises” to watch for:* - *Rights issues/private placements closing*: Sovereign Trust did N1.5bn statutory deposit + N5bn rights issue. Others likely announcing final tranche this month. - *Mergers/acquisitions*: Weaker players may announce tie-ups to hit the capital mark. - *NAICOM’s compliance list*: The regulator hasn’t published a list of compliant firms yet. When it does, names on it could see a sentiment boost. *Quick reality check / risks:* - Timeline is tight: Banks had 2 years for their recap, insurance got 1 year. - Capital definition is strict: Goodwill, deferred tax assets, unsecured loans etc. don’t count. - Not financial advice: Stock moves on regulation can be volatile. Some firms may miss and be forced out. If you’re tracking specific tickers, the ones to watch are those that have already disclosed capital raises or statutory deposits, plus any reinsurers with the N35bn hurdle. |

It could still be possible to find very intelligent minded ladies. |
SonofElElyonRet:Finally, someone else has agreed with me on what I have been saying for a very long time. This unspoken connection between the stock price of Chams and that of Japaul. Most times they are together. But when they are not, like now, sooner rather than later, one goes up or down in price, just to meet the other. Watch it always... |
Segun Oloketuyi was the MD/CEO of Wema Bank Plc from June 2009 to July 2018, and he was the one leading the bank when ALAT launched. ALAT connection: 1. ALAT launched May 2, 2017 as Nigeria’s first fully digital, branchless bank. 2. Oloketuyi fronted it: At the launch he said “ALAT is the bank for the future and it redefines the seamless relationship we have with our customers”. He also explained it in press statements at the time. 3. Tech push was his strategy: Wema’s statement on his retirement noted he “prioritised the use of technology to deliver improved service to customers, culminating into the launch of ALAT”. He stepped down as Wema MD in July 2018 and was succeeded by Ademola Adebise. Now he’s been appointed Board Chairman of Chams Holding Plc, taking over from founder Demola Aladekomo effective July 9, 2026. The ex-Wema MD who drove Wema Bank ALAT, is now chairing Chams. |

There are just a lot of Western words that have absolutely no Nigerian meaning, and the more we keep on trying to force it in, the more we continue to fool ourselves. Don't just throw words around like it's toilet paper. Before you say you are going on dating, what exactly is dating? Ever cared to find out the etymology of the word? Date-ing Like how does that word suddenly mean going to restaurant to eat shawarma and suya etc. Date as in today's Date? -ing as in an Action word? Well, you guys can continue to use words that don't make sense even to you. If you use words like Relationship Going out together Meeting Friendship. These sounds a bit more meaningful. But you see words like Dating, Courting, and hanging out? I don't use them because, they don't even sound sensible to me. Hanging out? As in cloth hanging outside on a dryer or what? My point it: Not every word in a dictionary makes sense just because it is in a dictionary. Especially when it has to involve what happens between 2 human beings. Use descriptive words that communicates exactly what both of you are doing, to avoid unmet expectations. |
Omo 😬 This story is too real and too common these days. Thank you for sharing it — that’s exactly how people get caught in “possession of stolen goods” without even knowing. *What happened, in plain terms* 1. *Anambra State CID* tracked an IMEI/phone for 1+ month across states to SS region. 2. *Chain*: Original owner → Buyer → Middleman with receipt → *Shop owner with no receipt/source* → Arrest. 3. *All 3* were moved to Anambra same day because the phone is the key evidence. Police don’t know yet if it was just lost/stolen or tied to kidnapping/attack. That “shop opposite you” scenario happens a lot: Cheap deal = red flag, but people take it anyway. *Why everyone got picked up* Nigerian police operate on *“possession + no proof of ownership”*. Under the law, if you can’t show you bought it legitimately, you’re presumed to be handling stolen property until you prove otherwise. Receipt, CAC shop registration, supplier details, BVN/ID of seller = your defense. No paper = wahala. *Key lessons for you + anyone buying/selling phones* *If you’re a BUYER:* 1. *Receipt or walk away* – Shop receipt with CAC name, date, IMEI written, seller’s ID. Handwritten “paper” alone is weak. 2. *Check IMEI first* – Dial `*#06#`, verify it’s not reported stolen/lost. Some police units can check too. 3. *Buy from registered shops* – Roadside “too cheap” iPhone 13 for 120k? That’s how you enter Anambra CID case file. 4. *Transfer, don’t cash* – Bank transfer leaves a trail to the seller. Cash is untraceable. *If you’re a SELLER/REPAIRER:* 1. *Never buy without a transfer of ownership note + seller ID/BVN* – Even if it’s “Tokunbo” or “UK used”. 2. *Keep records 2+ years* – Police can track phones months later. “I bought it long ago, I don’t know the guy” won’t save you. 3. *If it’s suspiciously cheap, it’s expensive trouble* – That’s the bait police use to trace networks. *Hard truth* “E no concern me” doesn’t work with the police when it’s a phone linked to a crime. Ignorance is not a defense. They’ll carry buyer, middleman, seller together and sort it out at State CID. You were right there to see it. Must have been tense. |
The “interview text” trap is real. Guy collects number → rushes home → starts with: “Hi, how are you? What do you do? Where do you live? What’s your favorite color?” 😂 Bro, you just turned yourself into customer service. Why calling wins: 1. Confidence signal → Texting is easy to ignore. Calling says “I’m serious, I’m not hiding behind a screen.” 2. Speed → 3 minutes on a call = you know if she’s interested, busy, or just collecting contacts. 3 days of texting = you’re still guessing. 3. Filters time-wasters fast → “Yes, let’s meet” / “No, I’m busy” / “I don’t do calls” = you have your answer. No energy wasted. Texting vs Calling rule of thumb: Text = Logistics, banter, “I’m outside” Call = First real connection, planning a meetup, checking intent She gave you her number on the road = she expects a move. If she won’t pick up or plan to meet, she was never going to anyway. You saved yourself weeks of “seen” messages. Bottom line: Don’t audition for her attention over WhatsApp. Call, be direct, set the date. If it’s a yes, you win. If it’s a no, you win faster. |
Britishpea:In this case, you can actually generalize. You saying not all ladies are into direct or indirect hookup, is like saying that it's not all Naija policemen that are corrupt. Kpele o. Good luck finding the incorruptible policemen. |
Countersam:Don't waste time trying to explain anything to an unreasonable lady no matter how beautiful she is. You will only end up wasting your time. |
Smiles Smiles Smiles Smiles |
It can't be all girls that are into hookup in Nigeria. But all who are not yet into it, are potential members of that same club. |
Have you ever lived in same compound with a hookup girl? Share your observations and experiences. |
Keep dressing your underaged daughters as sluts, then turn around to call Men, paedophiles. One day, you will get what you deserve. |
Most ladies doing salary work by day time, are fully into hookup by evenings and till Daybreak. |
Where Nigeria’s insurance recapitalisation stands right now. *Headline points*: *1. Final stretch of recapitalisation* The industry is in the “final and critical weeks” to meet the *July 2026 deadline* under the *Nigerian Insurance Industry Reform Act (NIIRA) 2025*. NAICOM has said the deadline is backed by law and won’t be extended. *New minimum capital thresholds under NIIRA 2025*: - *Life insurance*: N10 billion - *Non-life*: N15 billion - *Composite*: N25 billion - *Reinsurance*: N35 billion *2. Incoming NIA Chairman’s agenda* *Mrs. Ebelechukwu Nwachukwu*, who becomes the 27th NIA Chairman on *July 3, 2026*, says bank-insurance-fintech partnerships are key to growing penetration. Her 3 focus areas: - *Strategic partnerships*: Link with banks, fintechs, microfinance to distribute insurance, especially digitally - *Simplify insurance*: Make products + claims easier to understand to rebuild public trust - *Stronger NIA advisory role*: Help members comply and engage government on the new Act. She also warned: _“Recapitalisation will strengthen balance sheets, but without the technical expertise to manage larger and more complex risks, the sector will not achieve sustainable growth”_. *3. Market reality now* - It’s the “pressure phase” with insurers doing rights issues, private placements, mergers, or acquisitions. - NAICOM says it won’t let any licensed firm collapse and is supporting weaker ones via restructuring, mergers or acquisitions. - A “flight to quality” is already happening, with big corporate clients moving to larger insurers they believe can survive. *What’s next*: Capital verification runs to June 30, 2026, with final compliance by July 30 2026. |
The National Insurance Commission (NAICOM) has appointed *Ernst & Young (EY)* as Consulting Actuary to help finalise and roll out Nigeria’s *Risk-Based Capital (RBC) framework*. *Why it matters*: 1. *Regulatory shift*: NAICOM is moving the insurance sector from a flat capital rule to a risk-based supervisory regime. Capital requirements will now match each insurer’s specific risk profile. 2. *Goal*: Strengthen financial stability and boost policyholder protection across the industry. 3. *Timing*: This comes after new legislation and the ongoing Minimum Capital Requirement (MCR) recapitalisation exercise. The RBC rollout will align with the completion of that MCR exercise. *What EY will do*: - Provide technical support to speed up implementation - Strengthen NAICOM’s internal actuarial and supervisory capacity - Help ensure the final framework is robust, transparent, and fit for Nigeria’s market. *Next steps NAICOM mentioned*: Quantitative Impact Studies (QIS) and industry-wide data collection in the coming weeks. That data will be used to recalibrate key parameters before the final RBC framework + regulatory guidelines are issued. NAICOM Commissioner Olusegun Ayo Omosehin said the shift is “aimed at strengthening financial stability and enhancing policyholder protection across the industry”. |
Empowering women, is waste of resources. I will explain. Within 5 years, more successful male content creators have gotten married. Not one female successful content creator has gotten marr¡ed in the past five years. Why? It's because, if you give 10 women wealth, that wealth will never circulate. Women don't build. Women don't think of the future. Women don't support. Women are self!sh. The major reason why many of them are getting marr¡ed, is because of poverty. If that your wife becomes rich today, you will see the other side of her that you have never seen before, and would never have believed it, if someone had told you about it. This is why, the moment you take your woman abroad, and she starts seeing millions, the same way you do, next line of action for her, is to call police, and remove you from the house, for her to live alone. When women see money, they don't need a man. But when they are broke and wretched? They need a man. When they can't work hard and earn living by themselves, they look for a man who they can use, manipulate and get what they want. Empowering women is almost a waste of resources, because they end up not empowering anyone else. Think about it, most of the men that started doing Content Creating and Skits and made lots of money from it, are all marr¡ed, but most rich female Content Creators are still single. Very soon m£πopause will start pr¡c¡ng them like market crayf¡sh. This is what I have been talking about, about how d@nger0us Blord's action is to our society. Recruiting and £mploying more women than men is d@nger0us, our d@ughters will all grow 0ld and will likely not get marr¡ed because most men are out of work. If a man is jobless how can he start a family? Give 10 women 10 million each and give 10 men just 5 million each then you will see the result, those men will start a family with even 5Million but those women? They will hoard it, bμy Nonsense items instead. They won't be considerate enough to support who they are dating by empowering him so that he will grow and marry them. Don't get me wrong, this is not h@tred @gainst women. This is to pass a message on how women don't build like men. Gender equality ends here! Sermons over! |
