List of Court Orders Disobeyed By Wike

1. On June 26,2021

1. Wike who was then Governor of Rivers State disobeyed Court judgement for immediate payment of the salaries of teachers.

The salaries of the affected teachers had been stopped by the state government for five years, leading to litigation and protests over the matter.

2. On November 8,2023

A National Industrial Court in Abuja began a contempt proceedings against FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike, and others over alleged disregard of series of court orders.

The court had affirmed Faruk Abubakar as Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of the Abuja Markets Management Limited, AMML.

The development was sequel to the decision of the minister to include AMML’s MD in the list of heads of agencies dissolved on Sept. 27.

Mr Wike had, on Sept. 27 in a statement, relieved the heads of 21 parastatals, agencies and government companies of the Federal Capital Territory Administration, FCTA, of their appointments with immediate effect, including AMML.

The contempt charge, filed by Mr Abubakar also joined FCTA, AMML and Abuja Investments Company Limited, AICL, as 2nd to 4th defendants respectively, including the former acting MD of AMML, Engr. Yakubu Abbas.

3. On October 2023

Despite court ruling, FCT Wike ordered demolition of multi-billion Naira property next to Gbajabimila’s residence.

The property, which is owned by an entity known as Shrodder Nigeria Limited, is located at the Cadastral Zone of the Maitama District.

Controversy over the demolition has, however, been brought to the attention of President Bola Tinubu.

4. On August 16 2016

Wike who was Governor of Rivers State asked members of his party to ignore Justice Abang’s Order that PDP’s Convention will still hold.

According to Wike, the party was not violating any court judgement with the resolve to go ahead with the convention.

He dismissed the Interlocutory order by Justice Okon Abang of a Federal High court in Abuja that the convention be postponed till September 7.

The crises started when Wike refused to let his guard as a result of his monetary demands according to him, " I want to use it to maintain my structure ". This monetary demands were so outrageous that the Governor sought audience with Wike in order to bring a peaceful settlement but wike dismissed him to go back to Government house and continue his duties that he can't let his guards down and ordered the Governor out of his sight. After several attempts the Governor had no option to start thinking of a way out.

All commissioners, advisers, Chief of staff, special assistants where all appointed by wike not one of these report to the Governor but wike. This wasn't really the issue but the financial liability wike was to his administration. This is the Genesis of the foght

To those who are hailing Fubara, I will advise that you go back to history and learn. Today some people are shouting and even crying about the election conducted in Edo but I can tell you that Asue should say "otilo" to that election. Just like Fubara, Obaseki conducted LGAs election and PDP won all the LGAs. He thought like any other politicians that winning and controlling the Local Governments in the state will give me the structure needed to win the governorship election for his successor without putting the FG in the equation

Besides, Obaseki erroneously believed that he had defeated the power at the center before during Buhari and that this time around, he would defeat them again. He has forgotten the two things that enabled him have a field day during Buhari. The cabal that did not want Oshiomole to continue to be chairman of APC and Buhari indifference to political struggles in the states of the federation especially when he was not be negatively affected. To make the matter worst, he called the bluff of those who supported him in the legacy PDP against Oshiomole like Wike, Orbhi and others at his own political peril

Unfortunately for Obaseki, Buhari and other haters of Oshiomole in the APC are no longer at the helm of political affairs. He did not ask himself a pertinent question if all he did and went scot-free during Buhari could still be repeated when Buhari is no longer in power. He forgot that the new Sherriff in town hates disloyalty under any guise with passion. He failed to learn from history and now he has bolted away

Fayemi had all his LGA chairmen to his side. The structure was there and very strong. But because Jonathan was not like Buhari, he following the advice and suggestions of his party PDP moved against Fayemi during his re-election. Ekiti state was locked down with thousands of security personnel and all the opposition politicians were barred from entering the State at the eve of his second term election in Ekiti. Some politicians were consigned to house arrest. The ACN/APC did not see it coming and they were so confident that there was no way Fayemi would lose in the state. Despite the so-called structure, Fayose beat Fayemi in all the LGAs. The state government and ACN party shouted but the deed was already completed.

Amaechi also thought with his performance in Rivers he would produce a successor and considering the battle between him and Wike, he also forgot the role Jonathan and PDP played in Ekiti. Amaechi moved to the APC, organised mass rally at the Rivers' state stadium with so many people and even Buhari in attendance for his new party but all to no avail. With the help of Jonathan and his wife, Amaechi's new party APC lost woefully to the federal might. Everyone saw how the the Rivers state Police Commissioner was not taking order from Amaechi but from Wike, Jonathan and his wife

It is really a high sense of political illiteracy and foolishness for anyone or even governor to think that he will beat a party or leader being supported by the federal might to the game. Such can only happen during Buhari and not even under Jonathan that people considered a gentle man.

The most shocking and unbelievable one is Ambode's. He also failed to learn from history. He had an ample time and opportunity to make amend with Tinubu in Lagos but he did not care considering the fact that he was aware that some cabals do not like Tinubu and the he would get the ticket as a sitting governor anyway. He forgot that Tinubu would be ready to put his life on the line for his candidate to govern Lagos state. Ambode learnt in a very hard way

Fubara needs to revisit and learn from history. I may not be right in all of my political forecasts but it will too difficult if not impossible for Fubara to win his second term in office except Fubara and Wike settled their differences or Tinubu and Wike fell apart politically. Nigeria's politics is too crude and dirty for anyone to think that he will win against the federal might. Rivers state will be locked down on the eve of the governorship election in 2027 while some of his supporters will be placed on house arrest as it was done during Jonathan in Ekiti. The winner will emerge and the rest will become history.

My advice is this: Fubara please and please choose your fight wisely. This is not the time of Buhari. A word is enough for the wise. Those who fail to learn from history are bound to repeat it in a painful and saddening manner

The speaker is an integral part of the structure, the aforementioned was the genesis of the fight, the other reason for the fight was fubaras hidden intention not to conduct LGA chairmanship election before the expiration of the tenure of the fomer chairman. Go through president Tinubus recommendations to Fubara at the peace meeting, all the solutions proposed mirrors the reason for the crisis.

Fubara wanted to sack the LGA Chairmen and appoint Caretakers in their place. He was advised to do so to build his own structure. But the House of Assembly members who make the laws governing the LGAs refused because they saw this as a betrayal of Wike. Fubara was very angry with them and plotted to install Edison Ehie (his fellow ingrate) as Speaker to pave the way for him.

Wike said yesterday on Channels TV that it all started when Fubara tried to impeach the Speaker of the House of Assembly and it "boomeranged" (backfired) on him.

If Fubara obeys the Laws and Court Judgements, there won't even be political crisis in Rivers State. Let me give just two examples of how his lawlessness is the root cause of the crisis in Rivers State.

(1) The Court of Appeal ruled in favor of the Martin Amaewhule led 27 members House of Assembly, yet he continues to deal two people (Oko Jumbo and one other) as a house of Assembly. They were 3 of them before Edison Ehie resigned and became his Chief of Staff. He sends the State budgets to these two people to pass (even after the President directed him to present the budget to the proper assembly. He sends names of appointees to these two people for screening etc.

(2) When RISIEC announced the proposed date for LG elections, the APC went to the Federal High Court challenging the conduct of RISIEC in conducting LG elections. They complained of the duration of the notice given to political parties and other issues that they believed is not in accordance to the electoral act. The Court gave judgement stopping the election by directing INEC not to release the CTC of the voters register which is a key requirement, among other directives. Instead of Fubara to appeal against the Court Judgement since it wasn't to his liking, he went ahead to conduct an illegal purported election and now expects the other parties to swallow whatever he has done because he is a governor?

Unfortunately, Obidients and Atikulators are cheering him on while criticizing an innocent Wike whose political associates are vehemently resisting the acts of lawlessness and abuse of power by Fubara. All the criticism of Wike is because Wike supported Tinubu against their preferred candidates.

But right thinking Nigerians cannot be swayed by such infantile propaganda. Fubara should stop acting in a lawless manner and you will see peace in Rivers State.
