sagaciousblog: how can you be more familiar with the way they operate than people that actually worked there? Give up the argument already. You can't seriously be arguing that dynamites cannot explode on transit and cause a deep and wide crater after reading the link I posted to you of a similar incident that happened in the US. |

Guy if truly you are from old netim and have truly worked in a quarry then you will know that that blast was not done by the kind of dynamite used in quarry.
I have worked in Crushed Rock ( old netim), prodeco (old netim) Rcc ( Akampka) and Ground Resources ( ekondo) old netim and I can tell you that explotion is not from quarry dynamite I never said I worked in the quarry but I am familiar with the way they operate since I was young. Check this news out and tell me the difference between the craters. https://cdllife.com/2019/49-years-ago-today-a-sniper-blew-up-a-semi-hauling-20-tons-of-dynamite-killing-the-driver/

tony5: As Some People Have Rightly Said, Dynamites Are Not Highly Explosive Used For Breaking Rock And Mind You It Is Used To Break Rocks In Wells For Households. Another Thing Is That The Dynamite Can't Be Assembled Until It Gets To The Final Users Because Of Safety Precaution And Finally No Physical Evidence Of The Truck In Question Except Those Explosive Were More Powerful Than Dynamite. Their Is More To This Incident You said dynamites in transit are not highly explosive? Pls click and read the story below. In the case being reported, all it took to blow up the truck conveying the dynamites to site was a snipers bullet. https://cdllife.com/2019/49-years-ago-today-a-sniper-blew-up-a-semi-hauling-20-tons-of-dynamite-killing-the-driver/

GamalNasser: Forget about the sticks of dynamite you see in films please , that's not how the dynamites used for rock blasting work , in rock blasting the dynamite is set up at site just like your are cooking and the rock is the final ingredients that encases the mixture to secure the compression needed for a particular velocity of blast .... Even if fire guts a truck carrying dynamite bags what you will get is a low velocity combustion just like gunpowder or matches burning and even if it's your movie type dynamite sticks the will erupt like in many small explosions and not a single explosion..you don't understand how different explosives are set up You can't be serious. Are you seriously telling me that it's not dynamite sticks they use in blasting stones? I know that they used to mix things inside. Let me tell you something. I am from Akamkpa LGA in Cross River State..(Netim to be precise) we are the headquarters of granite and limestone in this area. We have up to 30 quarries here producing chippings, we have UNICEM (now Lafarge) cement factory at Mfamosin. I cannot remember the year I first saw how they blast stone here. I don't think you have ever entered where there is stone before yet you are arguing. |
Politics › Re: Aerial Pictures Of Akure Explosion by Eteka1(m): 2:31am On Mar 29, 2020 |
GamalNasser: First and foremost most of the dynamite used for rock blasting are set up as low velocity charges and not high velocity , the composition of each charge is determined by the blast master after seeing the rock he wants to blast and the charge is actually set up fully at the blast site .. when dynamite charges for rock blasting are being transported they are mostly flat , meaning there setoff composition and charge compression has not been set and if the catch fire at the point what you will have is a low velocity combustion and not a high velocity explosion just like burning a ware house filled with match sticks ...and again primary setoff charge called the blasting cap will never be transported in the same vehicle as the donkey charge ( the charge that does the work ) . All these analysis is meaningless. You are talking about high velocity/low velocity. What do you think dynamites meant for blasting hard rocks will do? these things aren't toys. Dynamites are very high explosives that's why they are widely used in mining. The explosion caused by one stick of dynamite is really massive. Imagine what happens when a truck loaded with hundreds of sticks catches fire. |

GamalNasser: Depending on the charge used and the rigger ,if it a nitroglycerin based bomb the rigger might right many charges together to go off as one huge charge blast but for C-composition RDX based charge like I suspect was used here because of the blast signature on single charge is usually deployed . There is no need for all these theories. The quarry company in Edo State that owns the dynamites is known. They followed due process to move it with escort from EOD department of the Police. Quarry companies use this stuff everyday to blast off large chunks of granite, limestone, marble etc from the ground. They do transport it by road from point of purchase to quarry site. It's only unfortunate that an accident occurred this time. Modified: See a similar situation that happened in the US causing a very similar sized crater. Read from the link. https://cdllife.com/2019/49-years-ago-today-a-sniper-blew-up-a-semi-hauling-20-tons-of-dynamite-killing-the-driver/

GamalNasser: Clearly not dynamites , it was a large single explosive devise that went of in one solid explosion .. You have been insinuating that it is a VBIED. Do you think VBIEDs are made of one single large bomb? |

babaolofin: What is the percentage of government workers to those in organized private sectors, the traders, unemployed people and labourers/ hustlers?
Those in government are sure of their salaries even if iit is paid bit by bit. A lot of corruption goes on in public services . They are always waiting for allocation. About 60% of the IGR goes into private pockets that is why multinational companies and some big indigenous conglomerates collude with tax officials or device ways to reduce their taxes.
This period, the only way everybody can get a form of relief from government is to remove VAT. Anytime a State government doesn't pay its workers salaries, you find out that the market women, artisans and the general economy of that State will feel it cos patronage will drop. That shows you that there is a connection and a ripple effect. Forget about the percentage of people who are civil servants. |

adenigga: That's the reason why we don't need too much States that cannot fend for themselves. Let's adopt true federalism not pseudo - federalism we are practicing in Nigeria.
Go Memory Lane, as a student of politics, the first State creation occurred during the period of regionalism under Abubakar Tafawa Balewa. Mid - Western region was created out of Western region to clipped Awolowo's wing. Thank God that present Edo & Delta that falls to that region inherited crude oil, hence, ability to manage their affairs.
Not to stress you with story, Ekiti State was created out of Ondo State by Abacha to secure his government legitimacy without putting some economic indices into consideration. Go to Ekiti today hardly will you find a manufacturing industries & some others that can boost the IGR, all what we have are service industries e. g. Banking industry. Thou , they are trying to sort things out now o. Thanks for your understanding! I agree with you. |

helinues: And what's the purpose/usefulness of our reserves? Reserves are not to be shared as allocations. Foreign currency reserves are used to keep a fixed rate value, maintain competitively priced exports, remain liquid in case of crisis, and provide confidence for investors. They are also used to pay external debts, afford capital to fund sectors of the economy, and profit from diversified portfolios. |

If VAT is suspended, it will lead to more hardship as the Gross VAT allocations to states and LGAs which forms a big part of monthly allocations to States and LGAs will be severely affected.
Reduction in allocations to States and LGAs at this point will cause some States and LGAs to be unable to pay their workers salaries. |
