OP, run the scene through your friend pretending that someone you know that he does not know relayed it to you and want advice. Ask for your friend's sincere opinion/advice to give to this supposed 'friend'. Whatever sincere advice he gives is a clue as to whether to tell him or not.

Alternatively, you might just be talking generally then you deliberately push the conversation to how girls cheat on guys and conclude by advising him to be very careful and investigate even the most trusted, just to be on the safer side especially if it has to do with anyone he wants to settle down with.
