Politics / Re: Be Honest With Nigerians, CAN Tells Jonathan by ethelfun(m): 2:47pm On Feb 04, 2013
lekanolas: The Christian Association of Nigeria, CAN, has called on President Goodluck Jonathan to be more sincere and honest to Nigerians for him to be able to take the country to the promised land.

The Vice-President of CAN, Most Rev. Rufus Okikiola Ositelu, made the call in Ibadan, Oyo State capital, over the weekend, while briefing journalists at the end of a three-day Open Air Revival Crusade organised by the South-West Ecclesiastical Province of his church at the Amphitheatre of Lekan Salami Sports Complex.

Ositelu, who is the Primate of the Church of the Lord (Aladura) and executive member of the World Council of Churches, expressed grave concern over the high level of corruption in Nigeria, stressing that “corruption may consume the country if it is not effectively handled.”

The cleric bemoaned the state of insecurity in the country coupled with poverty and corruption in high places.

He said: “What is required is sincere, honest and competent administration that treats all with fairness.

“Promoting any religion above the others by government is neither economically nor constitutionally justified, and sends wrong signals to the citizenry.

“In a country where over 90 per cent live in abject poverty and where less than one per cent lives in luxury on public fund, one has to wonder about the political leadership of such a country.”

Urging Jonathan to make urgent amends in his approach to the national polity, Ositelu appealed to all other tiers of government to “strive at leaving a legacy of good governance, transparent accountability and allow the fear of God to guide their thoughts and actions.”

The cleric also urged Nigerians to continue to support the country in prayers so that peace could reign supreme.

Education / Re: Your View On Suspension Of University Part - Time Programmes by ethelfun(m): 11:02am On Jul 03, 2012
The part time program was only suspended and not cancelled, this is a welcomed development in my opinion, cus the way part time programs are being run now is impacting any thing but knowledge. part time programs have become a medium for corrupt lecturers and V.Cs to enrich themselves... and not just that, the program is really being abused as the purpose for which it was set up is no longer being achieved... where i school for example, the part time program that used to be for working class persons between the age say 25 and above, has now become a program of little children from age 16- 21 who could not pass jamb. Admission into part time should require some form of screening ( examination ) and a lot of adjustment and standards have to be put in place for this program to achieve the desired impact.
Education / You Can Still Get Admitted Into UNIZIK Even If You Scored Less Than 200 In Jamb! by ethelfun(m): 11:19am On May 24, 2012
THE Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has released the 2012 Unified Tertiary matriculation Examination (UTME) national cut-off mark, to kick-start admission processes into universities and other tertiary institutions in the country.

The national cut-off mark for admissions to universities in Nigeria for 2012/2013 academic session was fixed at 180, while the board set 160 as the cut-off mark for admissions into polytechnics, colleges of education and other diploma-awarding institutions.

The cut-off points were decided in Abuja, on Monday, at the 2012 combined policy committee meeting on admissions to degree-awarding institutions, National Diploma (ND), Nigeria Certificate in Education (NCE) and National Innovation Diploma-awarding institutions.

Minister of Education, Professor Ruqayyatu Ahmed Rufa’i, who chaired the meeting, urged the various institutions to adhere strictly to admission guidelines, which stipulated a 70:30 ratio for technology and non-technology for ND programmes and 60:40 science/arts ratio for the universities and colleges of education.

So if unizik ( Nnamdi azikiwe university ) is your school of choice in jamb, then all hope is not lost. If i where you, i would purchase the post umte past questions of NAU, and start preparing for the post umte. There is no gain saying that its in your interest to score well above average in the post umte, so that way you have a good chance of being considered for admission.

Chuks05:

Hey guys is scored 48 in putme and 207 in my jamb. But i want to change my course dat is pharmacy to agric econs. Pls i want to know if it is possible. Thank you
[/quote

To start with, to the best of my knowledge, unizik does not offer Agric economics. and trying to change now may not work except you have insider help, and there are some certain courses that people hardly apply to study, the dept is so scanty, so once you apply and score 180 in jamb admission is all yours. so except you can get insider help and change to such a course, then you may not be able to secure admission this year.

@ CHALDOK, get your facts straight, 250 may give her admission into political science, but not Economics or Mass communication which are both ranked high above political sciences.
Education / Re: Unizik Jambites Lets Meet Here. For Admission Into Unizik by ethelfun(m): 1:54pm On Aug 15, 2011
There is no way managemnt sciences would cut below 250 aggregate as it is, management sciences and social sciences have the largest number of applicants usually ( this year not an exception ) so i must tell you that anything below 250 is not safe, and if Unizik considers some areas catchment? Yes they do!! check your jamb brochure, unizik like every fedral university gives priority to some state's ( by priority i mean, say you are from an education less developed area, like Bayelsa ( no insult meant ) and you apply to study law, say the cut off for law is 295 and you happen to be the closest to the cutoff say 280 from Bayelsa, you would be admitted. Again if you are from south east states, like Enugu, Anambra, Imo, they are also catchment areas but it really makes no difference, b'cos virtually all the applicants are from this states. YOU GET?

Year friends, i just logged on now, and to answer your questions, courses like Law, Medicine, History and international relations, Economics are real hot cakes. So for you be considered for admissions to study this course-es, you have to have done extremely well in both your jamb and post ume. Law is the most competitive of them all ( b'cos of the importance's people down here attach to it ) infacet for Law you need 270 above in jamb, and 70 and above in post ume ( with strong prayers ) it is that competitive. For the chap who put in E/E, it cuts highest in Engineering dept. so just pray that your scores are high relative to your fellow competitors, if you hope to get this admission on merit. i hope that answers you guys? cheers!

@ chidi, your just average, if you got any person whom you know in the unizik whom could help you, then contact them, cause there people who made higher marks than you, and for the last poster, dont worry the admission list would be out soon. Hope your name would be there? cheers!

IF YOU HAVE ANY PROBLEMS CHECKING YOUR POST-UME RESULTS, CASES LIKE INVALID PIN AND SO ON, get in touch with me. your problem may be as a result of your not shading your O.M.R sheet probably, so just get in touch fast as it still could be remedied before the admission list comes out and then it is too late.

Each department is yet to come up with there cutoff for this year, and Emeka is not well informed as the cutoff's vary every year and 220 may be low and may not be enough to gain you admission into ICH ( as a result of the stiff competition ), but all hope is not lost, you might just be lucky. cheers!

Education / Re: Unizik Jambites Lets Meet Here. For Admission Into Unizik by ethelfun(m): 5:16pm On Aug 13, 2011
Unizik is admitting based on the strength of there facilities. All the universities you mentioned above, are very renowned and old universities, they have a lot of facilities in place as a result of having being in operation for a long time. Unizik compared to them is relatively young ( though fast catching up ), last year, the V.C admitted quite a large number of people, after university wide accreditation by N.U.C, the universities ( unizik) quarter was cut down owning to the shortage of facility, if you are current, you may have heard that there wouldn't be intake in medicine and anatomy this year. so i think this answers your question.
Education / Re: Unizik Jambites Lets Meet Here. For Admission Into Unizik by ethelfun(m): 4:58pm On Aug 13, 2011
First you dont know if the guy is telling you the truth for one, and secondly, last two years, unizik was not as competitive as this, statistics has it that unizik is the 4th ranking university with the highest application in jamb this year, with about 80,000 and above students, and about 39,000 qualified ( scored 200 in jamb ). Well above 30,000 registered for the post ume examination, and they jostle to fill just 4000 spaces. what am trying to tell you is that, a score that would warrant your admission last year may not be the same this year as a result of the increased competition, the scores are definitely not going to drop, it could only be raised higher. cheers!
