well what course did she apply for because in university of uyo,Engineering is outnumbered and extremely competitive.actually universities will slack down their cut off mark to accomodate like from 160<40%>E and above to see if they will make like 230 and above in 2013 post-UTME and i guess There was Mass Failure in 2013 JAMB-UTME examination.ITA ETETIM ETIM 400 LEVEL CHEMICAL/PETROLEUM ENGINEERING UNIVERSITY OF UYO,INDUSTRIAL ATTACHMENT STUDENT AT UNITED CEMENT,CROSS-RIVER STATE,07067781908,2GO USERNAME itaetim285 Call for UNIVERSITY OF UYO 2008,2009,2010,2011 and 2012 Post-UTME past questions.Best Regards Admission Seekers

Health / Re: The Challenges Of Being A Nigerian Nurse by etim4uniuyo(m): 8:21am On Jan 28, 2013
Joanna Sedley: @ngozi, yeah nursing in nigeria need total overhauling, am telling ya. Other professions are progressing in the academic world but nurses have just woken up from slumber and now some old cargo nurses want to pull nurses down, kai..... honestly i am not ready to listen to anybody. I don't know about other nurses but for me amma reach my zenith.
Older nurses are enjoying where they are because they feel it is their peak and they want to keep every other person there in this 21st century !!!!!!.
We know our duty actually and we are trying to do it well but when some other professional start sounding condescending about your profession it put you on the defensive giving room to comparing and contrasting of both professions which is so unhealthy in the health sector.
wow@joanna nice write up i gbadun your last paragraph.the job of a nurse make sense oh.make una do am judiciously oh.
Health / Re: The Challenges Of Being A Nigerian Nurse by etim4uniuyo(m): 1:02pm On Jan 26, 2013
ngozievergreen:
Well said my dear. Nurses are d only health workers dat feel inferior to doctors, oda depts in health eg pharmacists dnt feel dis much oo.
Suffice it to knw dat nurses are dier own enemies. The older ones beef d newer nurses cos d latter graduate with four certs unlike dem dat had to get dem for ten more years. So in my sch, d older nurses(administrative) refuse to coperate to get full accreditation for many years bfr God finally answered my friends' prayers last yr. N dats thru d students efforts o o,(borrowing materials frm oda depts, payin 10k per student, etc) no support frm dier body.
n now a nurse is tellin me docs r d cause of dier probs, ndi ori.
dear Ngozi i can see pointedly you people are trying oh,nurses too.the effort put in to succeed medicine or any other profession is not a joke.everybody are important just that God planned life the way it is and as such authorities are constituted as same.thank you.Engr Etim

Hmm DOCTORS vs NURSES LATER DOCTORS vs PHARMACISTS THEN DOCTORS vs MEDICAL LABORATORY SCIENTISTS.THE HEALTH SECTOR ENJOY BATCHING ON LIKE THIS BUT YOU ALL KNOW WHAT EVERYBODY ARE ARMS OF HEALTH BUT THE NEED FOR A FINAL SAYER TO ME ARE FOR DOCTORS.SO RESPECT THEM AS I KNOW HOW SOME DOCTORS RESPECT THEIR NURSES TOO. A LAWYER WILL SAY SOME PEOPLE ARE MORE EQUAL THAN ANOTHER.BUT TO ME PRIVILEGE PEDIGREE MATTERS IN LIFE.
Health / Re: The Challenges Of Being A Nigerian Nurse by etim4uniuyo(m): 12:52pm On Jan 25, 2013
I submit this as i am very passionate about life, lets all regard ourselves equally as we all have a common fate to share with a supreme being,GOD almighty.though medical doctors are trained to give the final judgement and note the Nigeria Medical Association is watching their activities,so why not just obey them for the nurses as for example if you disobey them and the patient dies then you the nurse face sanctions that does not make you nurses inferior though as there is always not going to be room for excuses the otherwise...but come to think of it Nurses are professionals in their own angle so are doctors in theirs but it is good there is a team work in everything in life am not saying doctors are superior while nurses are inferior but team work will save it all.In Engineering Family One Engineer will be accountable to Two Technologists to Four Technicians to Eight Artisans.but in Health Sector we find it difficult to accept hierarchy of which to me may be due to the fact that they are all professionals.

Artisan,Technician,Technologist and Engineers are the core members in Engineering we enjoy what we do here in Technological Professionalism so also in the Health Professionalism stakeholders involved should embrace their roles as well e.gDOCTORS,NURSES e.t.c

oko-omoge:
I am not a dr nor a nurse, but I have loads of doctor friends male and female here in Perth Australia.

From what I have seen here in Perth, I will say nurses are the life wire of an hospital. Fine Dr diagnosis the patients but for an in patient, the recovery of such patients lies solely with the nurse not the doctors.

If you must know there are clinical nurses out there who are as good as medical doctors. Without any bias, I will say doctors are trained to be arrogant right from medical school, I will not go into that but I know that for sure.

Doctors generally have this mentality that they are super humans , as such they think any other profession is inferior to theirs. I am an engineer, a specialist at that but most of my doctor friend find it so hard to stomach the fact that I can match them dollars for dollars any day.

I am forever grateful to the midwives that delivered my son. The dude that came to give epidural to my wife was so rude, but I took him back to his days of pre-clinicals when he was still learning stuff about lower extremities and Atlas anatomy, the registrar had her mouth open when I took on the so called specialist. Very rude bunch of mofos.

I am so glad I dished medicine for Engineering. I have never regretted that for more than 10 years of hands on experience.

SIR though am studying Chemical&Petroleum Engineering at the university of Uyo Nigeria. To Me the fact is in professionalism, teamwork factor should be the main objective as well as relaxed objectivity and understanding.Nurses/Doctor embrace your role Just as We Engineers all embrace our roles in any establishment.thanks

Health / Re: Lagos Approves 75% Conmess For Doctors by etim4uniuyo(m): 4:48pm On Dec 31, 2012
allycat: The University pays the Lecturer or Prof in medicine the same as it pays the lecturer or Prof in Biology or engineering. But the lecturer or prof in medicine also has some allowances from the teaching hopital, not a full salary, These are Call duty, hazard ,teaching allowance and specialist allocation. Thses are also the same allowances recieved by the full hospital consultant. The difference now is in the basic salary. The entry point for a consultant is lecturerI (GL13) while that of a consultant in the teaching hospita is GL15. Thats why the lecturer takes home less doing for two jobs. (The teaching allowance here is not for teaching students, but for teaching, residents, nurses and whichever other medical personnel that may come your way eg students from school of health technology).
The resident recievs a teaching allowance with his salary. He is not paid to teach medical students by the university. It is just the tradition that in some centres they are encouraged to teach cos it is seen as part of their training to be consultants and also it has been found that the more you teach, the better you become.
I delibrately never sought to know the salrys of those in the Federal system cos I didnt wantto do myself longa throat.
All I know is that the salary I recieved as a snr registrar was more than my first salary as a lecturer/ hon consultant. What i have with me is the new conmess document.
please madame how much is CONMESS 02.

Nairalanders casting blames on Nigerian Engineers is not the Solution but on the need to empower our Institutions with up to date Engineering professionals, facilities and Equipment lest complain to God.

born2fuck: Our engineers are busy searching english language mistakes and errors on nairaland, that is the only way they can proved they passed through university not know that university have passed through them...they are all article of no commercial value...
.Look Here Talents are not learned or studied like Skills incase you are shortchanged here any profession no doubt come across this.so Our Engineers must not be talented to do same as we apply technical skills learned mister.:-)
