NwanyiOkpa: Good morning,
I have a few questions i would like to ask. I just got admitted into MASc in oil and gas engineering (course based). I hold a first degree from Nigeria, Mechanical Engineering.
How is the oil and gas industry in canada? can i practice as an engineer after my masters program? Thanks as i anticipate your response.
PS: i was admitted to Memorial University of Newfoundland.
the industry worldwide isn't good at the moment. convid 19 is hitting it hard, so the demand is low, Saudi Arabia and Russia are fighting, oil prices has dropped worldwide. There are no guarantees in the oil sector, job stability is nil. Besides the World is changing and alternative energy is the future, so why not continue on your Mechanical engineering or look into other engineering fields that would allow you vast job opportunities p.s; just giving my opinion, the gurus in the house would give you their expert opinion. 5 Likes |

Dfazz: Yes I know of UNN I-transcript but what I am asking for is proof of degree certificate @Blema111 has answered your question. just scan your certificate and print out a coloured replica and take to your university. they would stamp and send directly to the DLI in Canada. you'd have to pay for the service though. |

Wunaarroon69: Hello Everyone, I have been a silent reader but just created an account to share my testimony.
1st Online Submission : September 10th 2019 Correspondent Letter : October 15th 2019 Refusal Letter : October 15th 2019
2nd Online Submission : February 12th 2020 Original Passport Request Letter : March 6th 2020 Visa Stamped : awaiting because I just sent my passport on Monday Resumption Date : September 2020
Here’s my story, I initially applied for a study permit last year. I was denied but I didn’t care to reapply because I thought I would just focus on Australia or US. However, things changed and I just made up my mind to leave Nigeria come rain , come sunshine. I was among the people that got affected by that lagos fire in December 2019. I lost almost everything I had and the government till today has not done anything or compensated us.
Anyway, a friend of mine told me about reapplying but I brushed it away. Told him I’m tired of Canada and their wahala. He told me to just try again and I should check Nairaland for tips etc. That’s how everything I started. My university accepted to defer my admission for this years entry. I reapplied with the same exact documents. I just printed new statement. Then I rewrote my SOP & LOE. There was this twitter guy that helped me with the SOP & LOE.
Everything else I did myself with the tips from here. I did not pay any agent at all! Agent ruined me last time. When I got my medical request , i didn’t even take it serious or rushed it. Infact I already lost hope and excitement. I still went ahead to do it and just believed that highest it will just be lost money nothing more.
To make this short, please keep trying. I just want to tell everyone here to not GIVE UP. Even if you have been denied , try again if you can. Do not use agent if possible because they will just fill rubbish for you on the form.
Do it yourself. It is time consuming but worth it. Make sure your SOP is standard. Don’t write stories that touch for them. Straight the point and concise. I will upload my documents later I applied to Uni of Windsor. Paid all my fees etc . Two years Msc. Over 40m in my personal account and showed property documents. I believe that at times they just deny someone automatically like its computer based I dunno.
Just don’t give up please God bless congratulations!!! |

Hello Evabanks,
Irrespective of the course, a 2.2 is still not good enough for Masters but for Pre-masters, its okay. Anybody with such CGPA should endeavour to apply to more than 1 school and focus more on colleges. It is good to know you succeeded. Please, what course were you accepted for?
One love Thank you! i got accepted at Royal roads for their Master of global management program and into U of R for their Master of administration in leadership program. 2 Likes |

Are you equally a lawyer? Law is really from other professions. It’s not that easy. I’m not denying the possibility of getting an admission, just saying it’s an herculean task. No I'm not, i studied international studies and diplomacy in my undergrad. i know Law is really competitive because there are few options, i was just addressing the part where goldbergg said schools don't accept 2:2 graduates. There are always exceptions. |

goldbergg:
I feel you. No one thing is no Canadian university accept 2.2 for any course. So this is no exception for law graduates. Another issue with canadian schools offering llm is that, they are very few offering law generally. They have about 15 or thereabout, which makes the competition tight for limited slot. So other than having a 2.1 you must be very qualified to be offered admission. Dont bother looking for a low ranking school for llm. Once you dont have 2.1, there is no point Unless you going for another course of study entirely.
At the same time university is still a no no for masters if you finished with 2.2
Read through the thread i guess to see where you fit
Thank you Priceless200:
Nawa o. Really?
So what's the fate of 2.2 graduates who wants to study in Canada. There has to be a way. i had a 2:2 and i got admission into two universities in Canada while changing programs from what i studied in my undergrad. schools normally request for a certain percentage in GPA in your final two years of your undergraduate program. relevant work experience and packaging your application matters too. |

I have tried Manitoba and Queens too
what program do you intend applying for? |
Travel / Re: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 16 by Evabanks: 12:10am On Feb 27, 2020 |
lilllly: Some schools ask that your final 2 years in your undergraduate degree ought to be high. I had a 2.2 but my last 2 years were really high, so no hope for me still? I had already paid application fee for one school , so it’s to be expecting admission refusal now Try University of Regina, Royal roads university etc. if you had a high GPA in your last 2 years of university, all you need to do is package your application well, especially your SOP. |

Both MBA AND MSC IN MANAGEMENT SCIENCE j even sent my result to Windsor for assessment they said my cgpa is low if I am from Nigeria I should have from 4.0 and above that the program is very competitive okay. i suggest you search for other programs. i got an offer of admission at Royal Roads University for their Master of Global Management program with a 2:2( though i would have been required to do some maths related courses because of what i studied in my undergrad). i doubt you would find an MBA program without GMAT or GRE requirement p.s: Vancouver Island university's MBA (last i checked it didn't require GRE) but you might have to do their PGD first |

Hi guys, been a silent reader here following all your advice, been a big source of encouragement & reference for me. I got my approval yesterday.
First Application. Applied online : June 22, 2019 Biometrics: June 26, 2019 Medical: July 17, 2019 Passed: July 20, 2019 Approval/Correspondence :August 1, 2019
Just want to say, I was really worried as all the documents I submitted for proof of financial ability were much and after managing to compress to 3.9MB, the documents didn't look to sharp, I thought that it would be an issue but I thank God, for favour. I will suggest if you are having same challenges as I did, you can use CamScanner on Android play store, I found out about it after submitting mine with poor resolutions. Thanks.
Update: Passport Request : August 5, 2019 Submitted: August 6, 2019 Passport return : August 16, 2019
