Yeah. Don't sweat it. Relax yourself all you can and I believe it'll start coming back to you. Don't give up. If it doesn't still come back at the end, don't drop to the depths of depression. Lift your head up high. The ones you've written already have carved your name in the hearts of many.

The thing is not easy. After I know i've gotten to a point that I see the twists are enough, i'll just write a mumu ending. Then as I begin to edit the drafts I'll build a better ending, and probably add another story. I was telling Evajael the other day. My story 'Grabbing The Hot Gate' was around 18k works when I finished the draft, but when I finished the third editing, I got to 50k+ words. So, all in all, the draft is your idea. Editing is the story writing.

Yeah and the work is beautiful. Ending a story is not beans at all. Especially when you have a really wide plot and no plans for a sequel. You just have to weave all the loose ends together.

To the topic at ground, what can I say? I'm clueless as to what motivates me. As far as I'm concerned, nothing seems to excite me anymore in writing. I'm wary to let others know what I've been battling but I hope you all will understand. Somehow, I've been seeing my funeral for a while now but I have always believed in myself.

As in eh. I don't see most of my mentions.
Well, to me, you're going through a phase and you'll get over it no matter how long it takes. Have you tried settling down to carefully read your works all over again?
You're just too talented and I reject that funeral you're seeing for you. It can never happen o in this life.

I'm like this too. I have 4-5 stories I am working on at any particular time... That's why I sometimes have unfinished stories on Nairaland, and the readers keep bashing me for that. Lol! Thank God I have completed most of the unfinished stories and have just two uncompleted stories right now.

Evajael and Missnande ... So, I got back from work and used my phone to say hi to somebody and since then the idiot refused to come on. That's since last week wednesday...
But I hope to get a phone that can visit nairaland at least.

Meanwhile, my writing process is one that Elizabeth Gilbert as people that work like Butterfly. We spread essence from one work to another. I'm not the jackhammer type of people that can concentrate on one work.
I can't sit down to write a book at a go, but i like to write up to ten at a go. In other words, when i get bored or fixed at a point in this story, i move to the other one. In one of the ted talks I listened to, one of the speakers said when one leaves the work, it would keep processing itself in our subconscious. And that's what i do. I remember I started writing about Chibok girls two or three years ago, I'm still on Chapter five. Meanwhile, I got the opportunity to write others as if they were just flooding in because I've been thinking of them for months without touching.

So, what happens at the writer's block ish...I read any of the following a. Chicken Soup for the soul b. Harry potter c. Percy jackson d. A compilation of stories.

Or i would rewatch any of the following, which unfortunately I have watched like ten times now. a. Scandals b. The 100 c. 24 hours

But what gives me inspiration?
Most times, when someone just joke around me. I live amidst sarcastic and funny people. Also, when listening to messages especially Joshua Selman.

Lol I forgot to add reading novels to the list. Sometimes, I read novels to get inspiration but I just get carried away sometimes. I forget I'm supposed to write and end up reading two or more novels

It's my turn to spill.
When I want to write, I simply talk to my best friend. He knows I write. I simply go to look for trouble and unconsciously he says stuff that opens my springs of inspiration. I quickly move to my laptop and start typing away. When we fight, wahala don land be that. Kayo80 understands.
Sometimes, I watch a new movie to get inspiration. Recently, I discovered that very soft music works for me too. Gives me a really clear head to dowmload. When I feel like I can't press on anymore, I talk to writers. Kayo80 and cbella are always there. We connect very easily and soon my heavy burden is lifted. Divepen1 and Larrysun have been super help to me too. KimberlyWest joined the crew recently along with a few writers I know outside nairaland.
Some months ago, I used to play Zuma's Revenge to get in the mood too. Lol! I know it's childish but a girl has got to find inspiration somewhere.

Hey guys, on a lighter note, let's talk about how our writing process goes. Do you take anything for ginger/inspiration? You know, sometimes when you have writers block and you just have to write, do you take anything or do anything to get your creative juices flowing.

I believe at least 80% of us here are adults, so let's not be shy. . I know some writers listen to music, some take alcohol, some smoke something (you know that thing), some have sex or think about sex, some draw energy from memories of a breakup or a sad event in their lives, some get driven by the thought of money and fame at the end of the line, some watch movies in the genre they write in, etc.. What is your own source of inspiration for writing?


So, let me go first. I have noticed that for me, when I write while sipping a bottle of Legend Stout, I write FASTER and I am more creative. Ideas just keep flowing in and I never get blocked. Hey, this is me o! We are all different and live different lives. So, it might not be the same for you. And please don't judge me if you don't drink alcohol.

The second thing I do is watch lots of American Romance comedies. I get lots of ideas for stories from watching those movies, and I also get this strong urge to write.

So, guys, let's hear from you...what is your writing process like? Do you take or do anything to enhance your writing.

What annoys me eh is when they finish reading your story free, somebody will still turn around and plagiarise. Haba!
