Politics / Who Is Captain Hosa? The Twin Identity Behind The Mask.~by Adaze Emwanta by EVANPANA(m): 10:45am On Sep 07, 2020
Who is Captain Hosa? The twin identity behind the mask.
~By Adaze Emwanta

It is with the greatest shock and chagrin that l read a media statement in the Leadership Newspaper, sponsored by one Edo-born retired aeroplane pilot and money-bag, called Captain Hosa Okunbo. The said seditious publication was meant to disparage the personal reputation of the Governor of Edo State, His Excellency, Godwin Nogheghase Obaseki. I believe that the said Captain Hosa, who was born in Orhua village somewhere in Uhunmwode Local Government Area of Edo State, decided to change his name from Idahosa Okunbor, in order to obliterate records of his imprisonment for a drug related offence. He was miraculously discharged of the criminal offence, but was unable to obliterate the record of his detention in two different prison facilities in Lagos. The recent statement on AiT Democracy Today programme by the Minister of Transport, Rt. Hon. Rotimi Amaechi, accusing him of defrauding the Federal Government of Nigeria to the tune of 17 million US Dollars, speaks volumes of his track record of fraudulent behavior.

So, it is laughable to hear him speak of not supporting the re-election bid of the Governor. That is not different from the rantings of Tony Kabaka. I will not even comment on the glaring fact, as it is rumoured in some quarters, that the man now bleaches with all manners of feminine creams, in order to conceal his underlying health challenges. The much l can say in that connection, is that the envious man needs our prayers. The greatest disease he suffers from is envy for those who are better than him.

In 2016 Mr. Idahosa Okunbor worked against the election of Godwin Obaseki, to the office of Governor of Edo State. Just like he is doing now, he bankrolled the election of Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu in 2016. The moment his candidate lost, he immediately switched loyalty to the winner of that election, Godwin Obaseki. He had done that to Dr. Goodluck Ebele Jonathan, who lost the Nigerian presidency to President Muhammadu Buhari, the previous year (2015) . True to his type, after the inauguration ceremony, he begged the Governor to lead him on an investment trip to China. His request was granted by the Governor.

Before his trip to China with the Governor, Hosa had told Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu to withdraw his case from the Election Petition Tribunal, because in his very words, “Edo people have gotten the Governor they have been looking for and Ize-Iyamu has NOTHING to offer”. These were Hosa Okunbor’s very words when the Governor magnanimously granted Hosa’s request to support him on a business trip to China to meet with his Chinese prospective partners, who had refused to participate in his proposed projects except the Edo State Government was involved in the discussions. The Governor, having being newly elected could easily have declined Hosa’s request, as Hosa did not in anyway support his campaign and election. But to Hosa’s biggest surprise, Governor Obaseki, without any consideration whatsoever agreed to embark on that trip with Hosa and ended up guiding, directing and advising Hosa and his team on the best and most beneficial way to undertake the transactions with the Chinese. It was reported that Hosa was so elated and grateful for the Governor’s support, that he again declared on that trip, that he would call Osagie Ize Iyamu to drop his case at the election tribunal, because he Hosa had seen that Osagie Ize Iyamu had nothing to offer.

During the regime of Adams Oshiomhole as Governor of Edo State, he awarded the construction of Airport road to the same Captain Hosa, and the project was not completed after many years. It was Setraco Construction Company that eventually completed the project. The contract of managing the water fountain at Ring Road Benin city, on an annual basis, was given to one Pastor Dandison Okunbor, the younger brother of Captain Hosa for a whopping cost of ₦500 million. This was one of the conduit pipes Captain Hosa wanted Godwin Obaseki to allow to continue, but the Governor ended the contract, as he didn't see any economic sense in that venture.

The foregoing and many more grievances flowing from the end of Adams Oshiomhole and his lions and tigers informed the new alliance with Captain Hosa against the re-election bid of the Governor. I dare say that a lorry load of these fellows can't upturn the resolve of the vast majority of Edo people to re-elect the Governor, come September 19 2020.
It is very evident that Captain Hosa Okunbo, Pastor Osagie Ize Iyamu and Mr. Adams Oshiomole are desperate, crass and, obviously, bipolar birds of a feather, who lack character, and have no iota of decency and truth in their make up.

We shall resist Captain Hosa and his new army of lions and tigers with our PVCs, come September 19 2020. God must win!

Politics / PDP Group Urges Edo People To Reject APC And Ize-iyamu by EVANPANA(m): 9:58am On Sep 07, 2020
PDP Group Urges Edo People To Reject APC And Ize-Iyamu Over Electricity Tariff Hike, Petrol Pump Price Increase From N145 To N161 Per Litre.

...Berates Osagie Ize-Iyamu For Applauding Buhari Over Hike In The Price of Petrol.

Eligible voters in Edo State have been told to completely reject the All Progressives Congress, APC, and her governorship candidate in the September 19 election, Mr Osagie Ize-Iyamu, for being insensitive to the plight of Nigerians.

The call was made by the Coalition of Intelligentsia for Rule of Law and Justice, CIRLJ, of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in a statement on Monday by the Chief Scribe, Dr (Barrister) Fred Latimore Oghenesivbe, saying that the arbitrarily increase in electricity tariff from N22 to N67, and pump price of petrol from N145 to N161 per litre has further escalated inflation rate in the country, and in the same token brought untold hardship on Nigerians and Edo people.

According to the group, Edo people cannot knowingly patronise the APC over the terrible hardship and pains inflicted on the people, a party that have no regard for the survival and wellbeing of Nigerians, as can be seen from the jumbo hike in electricity tariff and pump price of petrol.

The coalition pointed out that the common man can no longer afford electricity and petrol needful to survive under a mismanaged national economy with direct negative effects on the living condition of Nigerians and Edo people.

The PDP group berated the APC governorship candidate in Edo State, Mr Osagie Ize-Iyamu for commending and taking sides with President Muhammadu Buhari over the painful and unfortunate hike in electricity tariff and pump price of petrol per litre from N145 to N161, noting that eligible voters must of a necessity express their bitterness and disapproval occasioned by bad governance forced down the throat of Nigerians and indeed Edo people by voting for Governor Godwin Obaseki and PDP on September 19, 2020.

"We are confident that eligible voters in Edo State will NEVER vote for further increase in electricity tariff and pump price of petrol in Nigeria. High rate inflation and acute poverty under APC national government is killing Nigerians in their thousands everyday across the country. APC has failed Nigerians and Edo people woefully. It is painful indeed.

"The yoke of socioeconomic hardship is too heavy on us as a people and Edo people must express their anger and rejection of acute hardship being experienced under APC government in Nigeria, by voting massively for Governor Godwin Obaseki.

"We are pretty sure that eligible voters in Nigeria, will subsequently vote out APC from Aso Rock in 2023, so as to rescue this nation from the evil grip of bad governance, poverty and hardship forced on Nigerians by a group of hardened leaders at the centre.

"Osagie Ize-Iyamu supported the increase in electricity tariff and pump price of petrol per litre hence his campaign organisation could not issue a mere statement to reject the price increase.

"Ize-Iyamu and APC have become laughing stock in Edo state and across the country, as Nigerians are yet to come to terms with the electioneering implications of a RATIFIED governorship candidate, occasioned by politics of godfatherism and deliberate disobedience to judgment of a court of competent jurisdiction by APC ruling cabal.

"It is crystal clear that Ize-Iyamu is on the side of those who made life unbearable for Nigerians and Edo people. His simple agenda is to simply support the hardened leaders of APC to promote high inflation rate, increase prices of foodstuff and transportation as a result of petrol pump price hike from N145 to N161 and electricity tariff from N22 to N67.

"The time to reject APC and Ize-Iyamu is now and September 19 is the D-day to completely and openly tell Buhari and his moribund party that enough is enough, by voting massively for Governor Godwin Obaseki, so as to Make Edo Great Again.

"A Simple agenda is a mockery on the people of Edo State by Osagie Ize-Iyamu. Through Obaseki's MEGA initiatives, Edo greatness is guaranteed based on 4+4 mandate for a sustained accelerated socioeconomic and infrastructure development of the state" the statement added.

BBC Debate: Ize-Iyamu is arrogant, intolerant – Osagie

Special Adviser to Edo State Governor on Media and Communication Strategy, Crusoe Osagie, has said that the candidate of the All Progressives Progress (APC), Osagie Ize-Iyamu, has once again demonstrated that he does not have the right temperament to govern Edo State.

Osagie said this in a statement issued on Friday night in Benin City, the state capital.

According to him, “The APC candidate displayed a high level of arrogance when he refused to debate with the Edo State Deputy Governor, Rt Hon. Comrade Philip Shaibu, who was asked to stand in for Governor Godwin Obaseki, during the BBC Pidgin English Debate programme broadcast on Friday night.”

The Governor’s aide explained that “Governor Obaseki started the debate with the other participants, but notified the moderator of the programme that he would not be available for the whole session of the programme, as he needed to urgently attend to an important issue of state.

“One would have expected that the APC candidate who is aspiring to occupy the exalted seat of Governor of Edo State, would accept the honest excuse given by the governor and continue the debate with the deputy governor.

“But he exhibited his arrogance before a global audience and started throwing tantrums, behaviours unbefitting of someone campaigning to be the Governor of a state.”

“Edo people know that Governor Obaseki has tremendous respect for Edo people as he has granted similar interviews on several platforms in the last two months, including those organized by individuals via online platforms,” he added.

Press Statement

Pally Iriase...Commander of the Lions and Tigers, Owan East Command!

Owan East Local government was yesterday invaded by "Lions and Tigers" under the command of (DisHonorable) Pally Iriase. Their mission was to assassinate the council chairman and his family.

Under the cover of a hurriedly put together ward rally, Pally Iriase imported the assassination squad arm of APC from Kogi and they unleashed their terror and evil on the good people of Owan East. The Council Chairman Hon Andrew Osigwe and his family was targeted! Thankfully, their dastardly act failed !

These evil men returned to their target scene in a commando style and engaged the police in a fierce gun battle before they were repelled when they realized that the mission was not successful after the first attempt.

Twenty hours before this attack, Pally Iriase without authorization or approval attempted to takeover a school ground using thugs to forcefully and illegally set it up to be used as a campaign ground. The council resisted his impunity by standing on the side of the law. For demanding that the law must be obeyed, Pally Iriase felt slighted. He ranted about his discomfort and to show APC that he is a "hard man" he ordered the hit on Hon. Andrew Osigwe and his family

We call on the security agencies especially the police and DSS to investigate and arrest Pally Iriase who must produce the assassins he used for the operation. He was responsible for their logistics, the reconnaissance they carried out, provided cover for them as well as the weapons they used.

Pally Iriase has continually boasted that he is above the law. That he cannot be touched because he has the police in his very deep pocket. There exist a prima facie case against Pally Iriase. The police have a duty to reassure the law abiding people of Owan East that Pally Iriase is not above the law.

Peoples Democratic Party in Edo State condemns this brazen, daredevil, desperation laden behavior of Pally Iriase and his APC. It is totally unacceptable, dishonorable and reprehensible.

We are aware of their simple agenda to create an atmosphere of fear, chaos and mayhem to scarce the electorate and ultimately have the elections postponed. Edo people will not be intimidated. They have resolved to decimate the APC rubble rousers and shut them up permanently.

We thank the good people of Owan East for the way and manner they behaved in the face of this unwarranted provocation. We assure them that Governor Obaseki and his government takes issues of illegal gun possession and assassination attempts very serious and are engaging the security agencies on how to solve this ugly trend.

We must not lose focus. September 19, 2020 is the day we must all come together to put a final stop to the recalcitrant APC and their sponsors.

Bring out your PVC, clean it with a dry cloth and keep it handy.

Resetting Edo is a task that must be accomplished!

Signed

Politics / Shaibu Petitions Police, DSS, Seeks Arrest Of Oshiomhole, Ize-iyamu by EVANPANA(m): 8:18am On Aug 25, 2020
Shaibu petitions Police, DSS, seeks arrest of Oshiomhole, Ize-Iyamu for arming youths, shooting of 5 others in Ikhin

Edo State Deputy Governor, Rt. Hon. Comr. Philip Shaibu, on Monday, petitioned the Edo Police Command and the Department of State Services (DSS) seeking the prosecution of the sacked national chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Adams Oshiomhole and the APC gubernatorial candidate, Osagie Ize-Iyamu, for recruiting and arming youths ahead of the September 19, 2020 governorship poll and the death of five APC youths who were shot during the party’s campaign rally in Ikhin, Owan East Local Government Area of Edo State.

Briefing Journalists in Benin City shortly after submitting the petition, Shaibu urged security agencies to take action and bring the duo to book, so that the state can have peace, adding that their desperation for power portends bad omen for the state.

The deputy governor alleged that Oshiomhole is plotting to set the state ablaze in connivance with his party's gubernatorial candidate, noting that both of them have verifiable history of recruiting armed thugs to prosecute elections.

According to him, “I have to cry out because I know both of them very well, even in the dark; I can clearly identify their hands. I am concerned because if not checked, it portends grave danger for our state, before, during and after the September 19, 2020 gubernatorial election.

“I believe you are all aware of the recent killings in their camp, where five members were mauled down in Ikhin, Owan West Local Government Area of the state.

On Friday, August 14, 2020, the youths gathered in Ikhin to share money after their poorly organised rally in Afuze. A disagreement within them led to the shooting that resulted in the death of five youths. The question here is, who armed the youths to kill themselves? This clearly shows that the APC former national chairman has pushed out so much arms in readiness for the election as they have nobody on ground supporting them.

“I fear for our youths and those from the neighboring states who are being recruited and armed to go kill themselves. I want to advise parents to pay more attention to the whereabouts of their sons and the type of company they keep during this period because these two men don’t care about the safety of lives and property of others but about their personal ambition.”

Shaibu continued: “I don't believe we should shed blood of these innocent youths because of our personal ambition. I am not just raising false alarm; I know both of them very well like the back of my palm.

“Ize-Iyamu was the one who organised an alleged notorious thug, Shabba and his boys to attack me and my family when I was in the Edo State House of Assembly; these perpetrators are still walking freely in the streets without prosecution.

"Oshiomhole himself organised a deadly attack on Governor Godwin Obaseki, myself and the Oba of Lagos, Rilwan Akiolu and other top dignitaries during the convocation ceremony in Edo State University, Iyamho.

"The recent allegation against me that I was planning to attack my own convoy is the handiwork of this old man, using one Osa and Odion Idahosa under the guise of a faceless group. These guys have to be arrested and prosecuted; this is a challenge to the police.”

“In view of this catalogue of atrocities committed by Oshiomhole and Ize-Iyamu, I want to urge the security agencies to take action now and bring them to book so that Edo can have peace, otherwise, their desperation and thirst for power portends bad omen for our dear state,” Shaibu noted.

A Federal High Court sitting in Abuja has granted an ex-parte motion for substituted service on the All Progressives Congress (APC) and its candidate in the September 19 governorship election in Edo State.

The hearing of the matter is billed for September 1, during which the court is expected to give a ruling on the disqualification suit.
