According to Femi Adesina, special adviser to President Muhammadu Buhari on media and publicity, the president is travelling to London tonight for an indefinite medical follow up.

President Muhammadu Buhari proceeds to London tonight for follow-up medical consultation with his doctors.
He had planned to leave Sunday afternoon, but decided to tarry a bit, due to the arrival of 82 Chibok girls who arrived Abuja earlier in the day.

Former Presidential candidate, Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu, says he is a Biafran just as the Hausas are known as Arewas and Yorubas are known as Oduduwas. Iwuanyanwu said this over the weekend while reacting to the release of IPOB leader, Nnamdi Kanu last week.

According to Iwuanyanwu, there was no reason for the Federal Government to have detained Kanu in the first place.

“[i]I have always said that was no reason detaining Nnamdi Kanu. In the law of this country which I know unless you have arms. Nnamdi Kanu didn’t commit any treason. Treason is when you take up arms against the government, he didn’t take up any arms, there was no reason whatsoever for detaining him, because everybody have the right to say I want Biafra, everybody have the right to say I want Biafra. For God’s sake, I’ve made it clear to people that Biafra is for the Igbo. Hausas are Arewas, Yorubas are Oduduwas and we are Biafrans. There is a problem we have because Biafra fought a war and people are ashamed to say they are Biafrans but I am not afraid to say I am a Biafran. Biafra is part of Nigeria, Arewa is part of Nigeria, Oduduwa is part of Nigeria; all of us are there. If a person from Oduduwa takes up arms to secede from Nigeria, its treason but if one is just saying by words of mouth, it just an ordinary expression of public opinion. There is no law that makes such a person get convicted by just saying we want to secede, it’s a right of expression. But if somebody from Oduduwa is amassing arms to topple the government to secede, its treason.

If somebody from Arewa is amassing arms to topple the government, its treason, if somebody from Biafra, because all of us are from Biafra I am from Biafra, to topple government, its treason. But if I come and say I want Biafra, it’s no offence. To the best of my knowledge Kanu didn’t have any violent means. All he said was that he wanted Biafra. He shouldn’t have been detained in the first place, I said it long ago. I said the government is making him a hero but people misquoted me and said I said government should jail him. No, I said that getting an innocent person, putting him in prison, they are making him a hero. So what Nnamdi Kanu is now is a hero because of all these. So he has not committed any offence and shouldn’t have been in detention in the first place. But there are also some parts of Igbo, who since after the war, they don’t want to talk about Biafra. You cannot wish away Biafra, Biafra is there just like you can’t wish away Oduduwa or Arewa.”[/i]he said.

My brother, what is the difference between a Nigeria were nothing works and a Biafra were nothing works? Do you think I would be any happier in an underdeveloped, corrupt Biafra than I am in an underdeveloped, corrupt Nigeria? My major concern is that, as it stands, a huge chunk of the problems we are facing as Nigerians would crossover into Biafra but unlike Nigeria, we wouldn't even have NigerDelta oil money to bail us out because let's face it, those guts don't want to be a part of Biafra, the oil we have in the South East is not in such commercial quantity for us to survive on for long, we still haven't decided what would drive a Biafran economy and we aren't even speaking with one voice for what we want. We need to first distance ourselves from the traits, habits, ideas and methods that have brought Nigeria to where it is today, sit down, plan and come up with a blueprint of what a Biafra would and should be BEFORE starting this agitation. A Biafra can work but then also, a Nigeria too can work. We are just not investing time and effort into planning and carefully executing those plans to make either entity work.

Even hell fire can work but that doesn't mean that people who are currently in hell, won't want a better deal or atleast what they think t's a better deal.

Some of you Lagos Igbos (which i'm one) do not fully understand the concept that led to the idea and is still sustaining it. Even majority of the IPOB youths who are shouting BIAFRA on a daily basis don't understand the concept. They just think it's a cool idea to have a new country with a new currency, flag, national anthem etc. But it's beyond that.

Now, what gave rise to the Biafran idea in the first place? It's because of the ill treatment meted out to Igbo pre and post independence which inavariably led to the civil war. The people responsible for them have sworn with their fathers and mothers graves that Ndigbo will never prosper as far as Nigeria is concerned and they're determined to keep it so. We can see it from the appointments and projects that are been cited in Igboland (I mean, there are actually no federal projects been cited in Igboland). So, it's not just that people just want Biafra from thin air. We have accepted for true federalism where every region will develop at their own pace and they have also refused. What else do you want them to do?

I don't think anyone with common sense will say that Biafra will turn to Dubai overnight or even in 100 years should Biafra come into fruition. What this people are fighting for first and foremost is their freedom. There are many problems plaguing this country and it's not a bad idea to get rid of even one of the problems not minding the others.

Btw, i'm not PRO Biafra but i'm not stupid enugh to downplay whatever i don't believe in. See Biafra as an idea rather than a country then only then will you understand it's shenanigans.
