Brother i understand your feeling, Its a perspective thing, When we look at our achievements vis a vis our current state. an overview of where we think we should be, you will get some feeling of panic asking yourself what have i been doing with my life. You just have to embrace the positive side and be grateful for what you have, be hopeful and grow your faith.
Some alcoholics are frustrated with life, they use that to console themselves.
TBH alcohol sometimes is good, but we should not depend on it. It calm your nerve, also when you get a good music and a jolly good fellow, It make people speak out their mind. you need self-awareness at this point to regulate and control it, But! never drink more than your limit.

I have an experience.

I was in SS1 then, SS3 student beats me with an iron hanger. I had a deep cut on my lap. I was frustrated and helpless.
The following weekend, my foster parent came visiting. I acted not excited to see them. After so much persuasion. I expressed my pains and what i have been going through. He was mad when he heard my a seniors has been terrorizing me, He requested the see the Hostel master and the owner of the hostel, with so much rage and displeasure. He vowed to do everything in his capacity to shut down the hostel.
He called the senior to requested his side of the story. i was humiliated for a silly reason. He bounced on the senior, beat him to stupor, I could remmebr after so much whipping, my terrorist senior hid under the hostel master bed walling like a baby.
Its a beautiful thing to see your enemy terrorized.
Since that day, I became untouchable.
They called me omo baba eleshe. (The son of a boxer parent)
