Scanned it and found out that the security installed on the car does not feed gas enough to the engine on start up and reduces power to the engine. The only code I got was p 1008 suggesting thermostart fuse issue.

The fact that the car runs & goes off sometimes rules out battery problems.

I advice you to get the car scanned. Get & post the error codes here, then we can continue from there.

I bought a Rav4 2004 CUV last month, but am having challenges with it. My car does have hard starting and when It starts and I put it on drive or reverse, the ignition will just turn off. I don't know what could be the issue. Also when I Park on a hill, it will refuse to start. Please help me with solutions. Thanks

After having replaced my catalyst that was stolen, I can now get a good sound out of my engine. I diagnosed my car and found out that oxygen sensor was the culprit, I have changed it yet I get the CEL. I removed my battery and replaced it and it disappeared and came back after a short while. What can I do to get ride of that.

I read that 2001 to 2003 Rav4 has some engine problems. Better stick with either 2004 or 2005. The major difference between them is that 2005 have for light while 2004 has a space for the fog light, so you fix it yourself. Aside that, not much difference.

What could be the cause of high fuel consumption as I just bought it from cotonou

I used visco 2000 on my Rav4 2004 and am not really enjoying it. The oil is 5w50 but Toyota recommended 5w30. Don't know any brand that has that spec. My car guzzles too much fuel. Seems the catalyst was removed

My brother, am in the same shoe with you. Considering Toyota corolla 2004 and Rav4 2004. Corolla is very fuel efficient, don't know of about rav4. Auto guys should please comment more on this topic
