Your husband should go ahead and file for assessment since he is a Medical Laboratory Scientist, his assessment shall be positive. He should also strive to make 20 points if he is above 40 yrs. You also need to write English exam so you can add 5 points to him.

For whether one can get positive assessment with the Vetassess as a lecturer without PGDE, I don't think that is a must.

MrsJoycey1:
Hello everyone,

Please can one have a positive assessment with vetassess as a lecturer with a PhD but without PGDE?

My husband on the other hand is the principal applicant and about sending his documents to AIMS for assessment for MLT as well, I believe the results will come out positive. We are considering Southern Australia or Northern territories.

Any advice?

Congratulations on your 887. I tap into your favour.

Bellacious:
Hi guys, it's been a long time. Just want to drop this here as someone might learn a thing or two from my experience.
Grand landed on 23/3/2018 for 489 Visa, family of 4. I left Nigeria alone on 17/5/18 and landed in Adelaide on 18/5/18 via Emirate. A friend on ground helped me arrange accommodation as someone he knew moved interstate few days before I arrived, so that became my new home. It's a one bedroom apartment and I paid 200/w.
I was taken to the metro station to get bus card and I received orientation on how to navigate through the city. By the way I studies Nursing science in Nigeria but I was told the process of getting into nursing here, so during my assessment, I assessed as a Residential care officer. I searched for schools to do the certification 3 in individual support as that will help me get a job easily. I got a school and with 489 visa I was told I dont have to pay. So I did it FREE of charge. I started the programme late June and finished early August. It was an 8 weeks programme. Luckily for me, the place I did my placement offered me a job and I was to start the 3rd of Sept.
Towards the ending of August my family visited to activate their own visas as we had till 26th Sept. They left for Nigeria on 30th Sept. Hubby had somethings to tidy up before moving finally. Also before they left, we bought a small car that I call "Lambo grin" $1950. An old toyota Camry 2003/2004 grin. My shifts were all afternoons so I will be finishing 11pm and catching buses that late won't be funny.
At my place of work, I was offered 67hrs per fortnight and by Oct i picked some extra hours and made it 74hrs per fortnight because one of my visa conditions said 35 hours/w. By January 2019, I got a second job since my family wasn't here and I wasn't schooling so I had a lot of time at my disposal. By Feb 2019 i contacted AHPRA(Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency) for assessment and by June they gave me a referral letter for a bridging programme and the search for school began. At this time, most schools weren't offering admission as they weren't sure if they will continue the program because there were some changes in AHPRA and the introduction of OBA (Outcome based Assessment). The search for school continued.
By June 2019 I left my 1st job because I got a better offer (still kept the one I got in January)
By October 2019, my family moved finally and I had to get another accommodation and we pay 305/w.
I contacted all the schools offering bridging program and luckily in December of 2019 I received an offer from one of the Unis here in Adelaide. The fee was $19800 and it was to be paid at once and not by installment. Well I've been working wink so that wasn't much of a problem. And by Feb 2020, we had our orientation(its a 6 months program) As for the kids they were enrolled in a catholic school for the 2020 session and both of them cost about $6k for a year but we had a negotiation and it was subsidized so I pay $165/fortnight and that's just about $4k.
By May 18th 2020, I've fulfilled the visa condition of living in SA for 2years and working full time for a year and on 25th May 2020 we lodged application for our PR. And to the glory of God, we received our GRANT FOR PR on 24/06/2020.YES you read that right, exactly one month after applying.
First week of June we completed the classroom work and exam was on 26/06/2020. Placement has been scheduled to commence by 20/7/20 and finish by 13/08/2020.
While on Visa 489, I had a private health insurance with HCF called oversea cover and I paid $50/month. As my family arrived, I included them and we pay $208/month.
For shopping, i can't really give a breakdown of the weekly spending because we still have food stuffs from Nigeria and I do bulk buying of fruits and veggies from a local market that opens only on sundays. We shop from Aldi when there's need and with $150 my cart is usually full.
The past 2 years has been quite interesting and I can boldly say WE DONT REGRET MOVING.
Thanks for your time and I'm happy to answer your questions. Cheers cheesy

Your years of experience prior to internship will be considered

You will have to aim for 20 points in English to boost your points as you have minimal years of experience.

I intend to start the process fully after hitting 3 years work experience which will be by Feb 2022, I have been working in a hospital as an MLS since Feb 2019 but still a pre_intern( still hustling for placement) my statement of result was issued NOv last year even though I graduated Oct, 2018( naija factor). I can provide tax clearance and other supporting documents for the work experience but will the years of experience prior internship be accepted by AIMS since my statement of result was issued Nov last year.

Apt!
mamatwiny:
I think this is wrong for 190 and 491. That point you are seeing there for 190 is for family sponsored 190 and not for state sponsored stream. State can give you invitation with less than 90 as long as they are sponsoring your occupation and that you meet other requirements; for eg, some require you must have atleast one year job experience, some may state you must have worked in the noc not more than 3 years ago, some 5 years experience, English language requirement like proficient or superior English etc. The conditions are expressly stated in their websites. They state if your noc is eligible for 491 or 190. Lots of provinces doesn't need job offer. It is only NT , that may need a job offer

Though the cut off for 190 family sponsored has not gone below 90 for sometime now,it does not mean it cannot go below that. Qualified ppl should just enter pool as anything can happen.

You can use anzsco search to check the state sponsoring your occupation, their requirement and which visa class they sponsor for your sol

Belong and tunlex01, abeg come and clarify these points ooo.
TravelRe: DIY Guide To Australian Permanent Resident Visa - Part 2 by Experience4u(m): 4:46pm On May 30, 2020
I don't think your info is exactly correct.
Nomination depends on occupation. Some occupation like Poultry farmer or Fitter can get you nomination at 65 to 75 points while some occupation like ICT Or engineering you will need like 80 to 95 points.

However, by July occupation ceiling will be revised and those occupations on special conditions may be revised back to normal.
Lislekelsey:
Hi guys. To help the people calculating their points better. And to avoid Bellong having to answer too many posts... Pls read carefully

Since the November 2019 change in points, anyone applying newly CANNOT APPLY WITH LESS THAN 90 POINTS FOR visa 190, and visa 189, 85 points for visa 491. People doing ICT, Engineering or Accounting courses will need 95 for visa 189 too.

.... so unless you have the requirements for 491 which mostly includes a job offer, you need to have 90 points to qualify for visa 190. And 90 for visa 189.

Here's an attached pic for march 2020 Australian immigrants points structure.

So.... 65 points iss now a myth. Thank you

TravelRe: DIY Guide To Australian Permanent Resident Visa - Part 2 by Experience4u(m): 4:48pm On May 29, 2020
Nice plan.
With a positive assessment as MLT, you need to write MLS professional exam in South Africa or UK. You also need to score 20 points from IELTS or PTE so your point can be upto 90. With 90, there is high probability of getting 189.

If you get 189, you can do soft landing and go back to Nigeria. Before your visa expires, you need to come back to Australia and travel back again. But you will need to apply for Resident Return Visa anytime you want to come back to Aussie.

Your question of if the money is good.
YES, the money is good. But all these calculations depends on ASUU and FG as per strike levels.

It is achievable if you put your mind to it.

quote author=Actinium post=90081422]Good day to all members of the forum, I have quite a situation here... I have a degree in Medical Laboratory Science, currently with 2years experience and counting, also I'm currently 28yrs old and also a 100L MBBS student in one of the Federal institutions. I hope to start my Australian PR with AIMS using my MLS degree while still going thru medical school. Now here are my questions;

1. All things being equal, I'll get my PR visa before graduating, can I soft land before my IED and come back to finish up the degree?

2. Will the medical degree be beneficial to me in the long run in Australia since I'll have just little experience by then, because I read getting into practice is not so easy. Tho I hope to write the AMC exams after I settle in.

Your candid advice will be well appreciated.[/quote]
TravelRe: DIY Guide To Australian Permanent Resident Visa - Part 2 by Experience4u(m): 4:39pm On May 29, 2020
Why not assess as a Medical administrator.
You need just 5 years of practice to get a positive outcome
Aussie2doc:
I need the gurus to advise me. I am a medical doctor in private practice in Nigeria. I decided to relocate this last December so I did the part 1 of the board exam AMC MCQ and passed. I got a job in Australia so I am processing my limited registeration and my employer is sponsoring my TSS visa. I will be eligible for PR only after 3yrs of working with the employer on TSS VISA but I am 41 years this last march. If with this COVID 19, I can't resume earlier than march then by the time I am eligible for PR, I will be 45yrs old which will be the cut off point. I have another route which is to pass the clinical exam as soon as possible and after working for one year then I will be eligible for general registeration. With that I will get 65points immediately and by the time I add my age it is 80 already. With IELTS it will be more than 90. However I don't know wether the job will give me adequate time to read as the job I got is leading me directly to becoming a consultant GP in just 3yrs plus( subject to passing exams through PEP program too) So the last option is where I need advice. I am thinking of applying for PR directly while on TSS visa as a medical and welfare manager for 190subtype. I need vetasses. I started paying myself one million naira monthly salary just two months ago directly from my hospital account ( I am actually doing well in Nigeria in terms of money but I need better life and future for the kids) . So, I want to claim 10yrs experience as a manager using my clinic. But I am the manager and in the form, I need to fill the name of my employer. Should I just arrange a friend to do that? This is not fraud but I just don't know how to do it. The hospital is real. I make profit of more than three million per month so it is not fraud but I heard vetasses will call the employer and I am my employer so that is the problem. I need to get 8 points in IELTS but I know I can do that. My wife needs to get 6 points in IELTs and I think she can do that too. I hope to kick-start the PR visa before travelling on TSS visa so I won't be attached to my employer for the next 5 years. Although the money is good. A rural area with an initial 150k Australia dollars and within 3yrs I should be grossing up to 400k dollars as a VR GP by his grace. I am excited but I also need to secure this PR. If this don't work, them I will have to pass the clinical exam by fire by force before I finish my year 1 under supervision so I can get general registration and apply before 45

TravelRe: DIY Guide To Australian Permanent Resident Visa - Part 2 by Experience4u(m): 4:13pm On May 19, 2020
With your BSc Biochemistry, you can't access for Medical Laboratory Scientist as your course lacks core requirements for MLS such as Medical Microbiology, Histopathology, BGS, Haematology, Immunology, Virology and Chemical Pathology.
However, with your experience, you may be able to get positive experience for MLT but you can't progress to write MLS professional exam.

So while filling for your assessment, feed them with all certificates you have acquired and make sure your experience or job description tallies with MLS/MLT.

It is after positive assessment that you can apply to any state to nominate you for visa.
zeb04:
i have a Bsc Biochemistry

But I have additional trainings as an embryologist with certificates, also a Member of the American Society of Reproductive Medicine.

I am on page 6 of this thread but pls I don't understand the nomination thing. Do you apply for it and how?
TravelRe: DIY Guide To Australian Permanent Resident Visa - Part 2 by Experience4u(m): 4:05pm On May 19, 2020
Like stated, after assessment you will be given positive assessment as MLT code 311213. If you don't want to write the professional exam you can remain an MLT. You can as well apply for nomination with MLT.

If you have the money you can prepare and write the exam in SA or UK or you can write it onshore after getting nomination and Granted.

zeb04:
pls let me get it clearly

1) I still go ahead and send my documents to Aims (if I am eligible, I will be given MLT)

2,)I don't understand how to apply for nominations. I will do my research but pls can you brief me

If you have an Msc Canada will be the easiest based on your age. If you don't have you can go through provincial nomination which is expensive and time consuming.
However, for Australia, you need to write IELTS or PTE and get at least 7 in all modules for IELTS or 65 in all modules for PTE, submit your application for assessment with AIMS. You stand a good chance for both countries, it is a matter of choice.
