2. Good and Bad domains- Except trademark domains, unnecessarily long domains, and some other not-so-important criteria, I don't see any domain as bad. Seriously! In my few months of domainining, I have seen some awkward domain sell. For instance, smile.com sold for whooping 18k last week (I'm sure most of you wouldn't have bought that if you see it lying around). Also, on namepros, I have seen a lot of domains you consider "bad" sell for good profit. Don't get me wrong, I never said you should go around registering every name you come across. As a matter of fact, I'll still suggest you stick to the laws Oga Iyke gave in the beginning of this thread.

Smile is a one word dictionary word and it is a category killer domain; it is a 6 figure worth domain!

That was old story, such can never happen again, now there are many escrow services and now domains are sold on cash and carry from many auctions. So there is no more problem for Nigerians to sell domain again. The worse now is they will make sure you are going to deliver the name. Paypal, skrill and payza and many more are there if you are selling on namepros.com etc.

You don't need to hide your identity anymore. But that is not to say you shouodbexpose your credit card info. OK?

So use Nigeria address for your registrations any time any day.

To me domain reg is simpler and smooth with W4A and there are names other sites will show you that are taken but will be available on W4A. I also feel some of these domain reg sites quickly buy the domain u search on them only to sell it back to u at a higher price maybe I am being paranoid, But I have never experienced such with W4A. However I can't say such about their hosting service. Recently decided to pull out of their hosting platform cos i have not being able to login into my cpanel. The link isn't just working. The customer support representative seems to have little idea on how the system works.

Such thing has never happened to me before, on any of those 2 websites for the past 10 years I have being patronizing them. Well, I don't know how you came about such things.

Well, you can chose by yourself, No one could recommend any good registrar to you, unless you try and see by yourself. But in my opinion, the best registrars so far are Godaddy.com, namecheap.com, dynadot.com, name.com and etc.

What is a Domain Name: I will just define it to you in a layman language for you to understand; Domain name is the name of any website or call it address where visitors can locate the website.

There are many types of domain Names: ie.
Country Code, Generic top Level Domain "ccTLDs", Geographical Location Domain name "GEO", Internationalized Country Codes top level domains - "iccTLDs"

What is Country Code This are special domain names assigned and authorized by ICANN as a special domain extension codes for every particular country all over the world.
i.e. Nigeria ccTLD is .NG as our major extension, United Kingdom is .UK, USA has .US etc

What is Geo Domains?

Geo means Geographical location domain names; these are domains that are identifies with a particular area or cities, states etc. such as usconsumers.com, lagoshub.com, americanhub.com, NYcasino.com, vegastaxis.com etc


What is IDN ccTLds


Country Codes are alternative domain address extensions authorized by organization known as The Internet Assigned Numbers Authority (IANA).
IANA is a department of ICANN that has representative registries in every country around the world. Each of the registries issued their country code for purpose of identification and accustoming of the indigenous companies or for individual’s identification to a particular country with their business organizations.

There are two types of Country codes i.e

normal Country Codes - ccTLDs and the
second one is Internationalized Country Codes top level domains - iccTLDs

Why Country Codes ?

Country codes are issued for several reasons, among which enable

I try changing dns on nominalia, they where been rejected due to IP.. I later find out that I have to register those dns server with their IP. They only accept afternic after the registration.
They reject undeveloped and bodis IP
Pls what's the working ip for the two above, so they can accept it.

Though I have not tried to change NS for my domain but all you need to do is to change NS and not IP. When we have power I will visit and see how to change the DNS at nominalia.

The promo for €0.90 ended yesterday but now €2.90 instead. I think the price is still better than normal $10 registration fee. One euro now is about N400 at bank exchange rate, not very sure, may not be up to that.

You've made wonderful points already. Gambling and business are not the same. In business chances of making profit is high but in gambling, you have little percentage of winning. Those that goes into a business especially online business without proper exposure is just like they're into gambling, that's why you see domains without any potential selling for crazy amounts.

As a matter of fact, some domainers have hundreds/thousands of domains in their portfolio. How many average Nigerians have 100 good ones?

Yes! they have, but it is not how far, but how well; it is not until you have million domains in your portfolio before you can make money in domining biz. Have moderate properties and make your money and develop your portfolio widely. It is when you know what you are doing before you can develop your portfolio. Do you know one can have millions and they can all be rubbish, scraps. Ok! When they say this business is most profitable, that does not mean anybody can make money from it.

So if you want to make money from this business. Knowing the rudimentary is paramount! Even ordinary barber must learn unless he want to face problem or Alubosa - Onion traders learn the biz before going into it.
Yes, ok! Unless you are calling domaining a betting venture.

I remeber when forex came to Nigeria in 2002 2005 when everybody was going for the trade based on what they were told. Not knowing it was a deceit. people wasted lots of money there, simply because they failed to learn before making money. This is the same thing many are trying to do in domaining now, which should not be so.

So if you want to make money from this business. Knowing the rudimentary is paramount!

Sorry to be blunt, madam, but if you don't know this basic fact about domains, I suggest you stay away from domaining.

Stay far away, it is mother freaking hard. You're better off trying Fiverr, that's easier and you will receive tons of help everywhere.

There's even an FB group for Naija Fiverr newbies.

Compared to this solo, sweat-inducing, near gambling, scam-filling, information misleading, high-risk business known as domain names business.

At least, in Fiverr, there's no chance you go enter court case.

Just my two cents.

Why are you in domaining biz.if it is impossible to make money in it. You have said, the biz is full of missleading. You are now missleadding somebody.

Domaining only need you to be serious and hard working. You first of all need to understand what makes good domains. You can have the knowledge by reading from blogs to forums and after knowing good domains. You can start buying from drop market, good domains are very rear available, though, you can still get very few for hand regs but they are very rear. If you have good money, you can buy cheap one from namepros.com when the owners needs money, they usually bring them to auction.

Domain biz is like every other business that requires training, you can not just jump and become millionare whithout learning the real rudimentry of the biz.
Just start learning and forget about buying any domain and give your self time to read and read.

Nigerians likes quick money and that is why we are facing challenges with domain biz. Do not waste your money to buy whithout proper learning and put exact what you learn in practice and you can.make money. It is not a biz to make you millions overnight, but I am saying it categorically that you can make good money from domaining.
