Thanks Boss, I will reconsider a wattage around 450 watts because even the person selling used the exact mismatch statement you used. Thank you so much. NiyiOmoIyunade: I am struggling a bit with this panel VmP specs for a 600w panel.
If indeed the specs are what you say they are then they appear a mismatch for your system.
For a high voltage inverter, you are likely to have the optimal PV voltage around 400v. 6 panels of 600w each in series will put you on the poor end of the PV range and 12 panels of 600w each in series will over power 1 single MPPT.
The above segues into your comments about max PV amps.
You may want to consider lower wattage panels that you can stack in series and get a PV operating voltage around 400v and these will also produce amps within your inverter safe limits.
For the technical minded - it does not matter that your panels can make higher amps (rated) than the MPPT can handle, simply because actual field conditions will ensure that the panels are not operating at their max rated power for any length of time.

Hello guys, My inverter spec is as follows: VOC 500, max current on PV1 input 18 amps, pv2 input is also 18 amps. max panel input power 8000kw I want to use 12 pieces of 600w panel and connect it 6 in series. Now the STC specification for the panel is Pmax 600w,VOC 41.3v, short circut current 18.47, operating current is 17.2 amps, operating voltage is 34.9v. The panel efficiency at STC is 21.2%. Do you advice me to go ahead with this panel since stc short circuit current is already above 18 amps? |

Good evening guys. Please has anyone bought anything from this site https://www.u-buy.com.ngAre they reliable like Jumia or Amazon? Or are they fake? |

FEGEITOK: Based on some of the statements above quoted, I conducted further directed research and found this https://blog.se.com/power-management-metering-monitoring-power-quality/2013/03/19/how-to-choose-the-right-surge-protector/
Expertt, hope this helps you some more.
Basically you need at least 2 SPDs and 1 MCB
SPDs 1. Mains in aka grid power coming into your premises, think of it like a bridge between your entire house wiring and grid power 2. PV in aka your solar power supply, think of it like a bridge between your entire house wiring and your solar panels
MCB
1. Inverter out aka the power your inverter is supplying before your equipment received it, think of it like the bridge between your equipment and your inverter
However, SPDs work with earthing, which I believe is best left to an electrical contractor to install, because the excess current needs a safe return path
Little wonder then that @Niyi rightly makes the point that complete protection will be expensive!
That is why there was a poster that said this is not a DIY thing, but even if it isn't, if you don't gather some knowledge, you will be lost communicating what you want to your electrical installer or even determining if he is doing a good job for you.
The risk assessment part might be best reserved for professionals, but like the adage goes no knowledge is worthless Thanks FEGEITOK and Niyi for answering my questions. I appreciate your time and valuable information |

Oshomo12: How do you buy what you don't know anything about? Abrg, call someone who knows this thing and get it done. I understand your concern bro. That is why I am asking here. How do I know if the person is going to do a good job if I don't have an idea of what the person is doing. Besides I do not know anyone doing it currently. And am simply buying things for installation so I don't think it's wrong buying lpd and spd also so that the installer will fix everything once |

dejidotun2000: Is the inverter connected to a solar pv array and to NEPA ? If yes, for the AC lines, you will need a Type 1 surge protective device at your NEPA distribution board where the cables from your poles are terminated and a type 2 SPD very close to the inverter AC terminals.
For the solar PV input cable, you will also need a Type 1 SPD upstream and a type 2 SPD close to the solar input of your inverter and the earth terminals of all the SPDs must be connected to a ground electrode with no lower than 10 ohms resistance.
A lot of what I said will likely not make sense to you because lightning protection isn't really a DIY thing Thanks for this information. Please give me insight in terms of rating, and available brands. My intention is to to buy an affordable protective devices and call a good installer to do the job |

Please how can you protect a decoder from lightening and surge is there a device one can use? adubam: Remember you ask for a low budget decoder then you can try csat8 Pro Extra. Please try as much as you can to protect it from lightening and power surge. |

I appreciate everyone for your nice contributions, I was actually thinking of paralleling some of these hybrid Inverters that has battery less mod, like once advertised by MPPSolar whether it could require less number of batteries since load will only be used during the day when sun is up. So I think I should continue on Gen for now maybe in future I will have what it takes to go completely solar. Thank you very much guys. |

I already have 25kva diseal Gen, am planning for 20kva Inverter but I need to know the number of 200ah batteries and 300w mono solar panels that will be able to run 12kw load for at least 12hrs |

Good day all, please how many batteries and solar panels can power a 15kw Inverter for 12 hours assuming the total load on the Inverter is 12kw continuously for 12 hours . Note: the load consists of mainly pumps, electric motors and 1kw electric heater. Thanks |

Hello Gurus in the house.what is the advantage of 48v inverter system over a 180v inverter system. I saw an advert of a sukam 10kva/180v inverter that is cheaper than prag 5kva/48v. Please your professional advice is important. Thanks. |

bigrovar: Solar inverters was one of the things I considered when planning my project. In fact it was what first draw me to starting the project. I wanted something simple easy and off the shelve. I considered Su-kam Brainy, MPP And Voltronic. The latter two are Chinese brand and bear a close resemblance to the must power posted. In the end I decided to go with the traditional offgrid setup. The most impressive of the hybrid inverters was the su-kam brainy 1100 which is not available in the Nigerian market. That shit had some smart features like ability to run your house completely off solar if you are producing enough energy and other smart priority settings. But my issue with them all is they all come with PWM CC which limits the type of panels you can use with them. For a simple setup they are very ideal. Although u have to be careful.. Most of this Chinese brand are known to fail after 6 month. The only product which seem to be very popular is Voltronic and their Axpert series which is hugely popular in south africa. And also sold in Nigeria as Ipowerplus by zinox computers. Thanks. The solar inverter is actually MPPT, but the failure rate is what I really need to know before investing on it. |

Happy new year Gurus in the house. I stumbled upon this solar inverter (MUST PV18-4K/5K) and I would like to know if any body has used it. and according to the manufacturer Mustpower http://www.mustpower.com/pv1800-5kva-off-grid-solar-inverter-application/ you can parallel up to 4 units. I want to power a load of up to 3kilowatts 24/7 so that's why I am considering this unit. Money is actually a constraint so I am thinking of expanding by adding additional units over time. Is there any disadvantage in parallel inverter?. What is the estimate of batteries and panels that will power this 3kilowatt load, note the load includes heaters, water pumps, freezers. lights etc. |
