An Argentine submarine that went missing almost exactly one year ago has been found at the bottom of the Atlantic Ocean. The Argentine Navy and Defense Ministry confirmed late Friday evening that the remains of the ARA San Juan submarine had been located in the south Atlantic Ocean at a depth of about 800 meters (approximately a half mile), about 700 miles due east of the Argentine city of Puerto Madryn. The families of the 44 crew members who perished in the accident have been summoned to Mar del Plata Naval Base to be officially informed this weekend.Officials in the South American country lost radio contact with the San Juan on Nov. 15, 2017 and were unable to locate the missing sub in following days and months. The sub was discovered Friday by U.S. company Ocean Infinity, which was in charge of the search operation. The company sent out mini-submarines to the seabed and one returned with definitive photo evidence of the wreckage of the submarine. In the deal the Houston-based company made with the Argentine government, finding the wreckage of the submarine would trigger a payment of $7.5 million. The same company struck a similar deal with the Malaysian government to find Malaysia Airlines flight 370 earlier this year. The submarine had reported a problem with its batteries in its final communication of November 15. Nearly 10 days later, the navy confirmed there had been an explosion on board, which experts said was likely linked to the battery problem. An air and sea search involved units from 13 countries but the majority withdrew before the end of 2017. Saudi prosecutors on Thursday announced indictments against 11 people and said a total of 21 individuals were in custody in connection with the killing. Shalaan al-Shalaan, the kingdom’s deputy public prosecutor, requested the death penalty for five who ‘are charged with ordering and committing the crime and for the appropriate sentences for the other indicted individuals’. But he exonerated Saudi’s de-facto ruler Mohammed bin Salman by laying ultimate blame for Khashoggi’s killing at the feet of two lesser officials. Executions in Saudi Arabia are usually carried out publicly by beheading with a sword.

Turkey has also evidence that the team made international calls after the murder, he added. Hatice Cengiz, fiancee of murdered Washington Post journalist Jamal Khashoggi, reacts while watching a tribute video to her husband at the commemorative ceremony.

Khashoggi, 59, a mild critic of the crown prince, was killed and dismembered in the Saudi consulate in Istanbul on October 2 after making an appointment to collect papers for his upcoming wedding. It comes as hundreds of people gathered to perform funeral prayer in absentia for Khashoggi at the Fatih Mosque in Istanbul. Turkey has said the murder was carried out by a team of Saudis who travelled to the city for that purpose. President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has said the order came from ‘the highest levels’ of the Riyadh government, but stopped just short of pointing the finger of blame directly at the crown prince. The C.I.A. made the assessment based on the crown prince’s control of Saudi Arabia, which is such that the killing would not have taken place without his approval, and has buttressed its conclusion with two sets of crucial communications intercepts of the crown prince’s calls in the days before the killing, and calls by the kill team to a senior aide to the crown prince. The intercepts do show that Prince Mohammed was trying to find ways to lure Mr. Khashoggi back to Saudi Arabia, although the crown prince did not specifically say in the phone calls that he wanted to have Mr. Khashoggi killed, according to people briefed on the intelligence findings. One former official said intelligence agencies were also examining communications between Mr. Khashoggi and the Saudi ambassador to Washington, Prince Khalid bin Salman, the brother of the crown prince. Prince Khalid’s denial was unusually swift. In a Twitter post on Friday, he said that “the last contact” he had with Mr. Khashoggi was by text on Oct. 26, 2017, and that he never suggested that Mr. Khashoggi go to Turkey. https://www.google.com.ng/amp/s/www.nytimes.com/2018/11/16/us/politics/cia-saudi-crown-prince-khashoggi.amp.html |
The CIA has concluded that Saudi Arabia's Crown Prince ordered the killing of journalist Jamal Khashoggi. The agency says Mohammed bin Salman ordered the assassination in Istanbul, the Washington Post reported on Friday, a finding that contradicts Saudi government assertions that he was not involved. The Post said U.S. officials have expressed high confidence in the CIA assessment, which is the most definitive to date linking Saudi Arabia's de facto ruler to the killing and complicates President Donald Trump's efforts to preserve U.S. ties with one of the closest American allies in the region. https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-6399679/Murder-journalist-Jamal-Khashoggi-ordered-Saudi-Arabias-Crown-Prince-CIA-says.html?_e_pi_=7%2CPAGE_ID10%2C5995884658 Lalasticlala, Mynd44

Munich Airport, in the south-eastern German state of Bavaria, is the second-busiest airport in Germany and the seventh-busiest in Europe. The Airbus A380 is a double-deck, wide-body, four-engine jet airliner manufactured by Airbus. It is the world's largest passenger airliner, and the airports at which it operates have upgraded facilities to accommodate it. The doors which were built to accommodate the planes, measure 72 feet high and 36 feet wide. It took four weeks to build the 20 ton doors. There are five Airbus A380s which are part of the Lufthansa fleet and they have been based at the airport since March. The large hole means the tail fin is left sticking a full 6.6 feet outside the hangar during maintenance work. An airport spokesperson said the hole fits snugly around the plane and prevents chilly draughts. They added that leaving the tail fin outside would not pose any problems even in the coldest conditions, as the planes are used to flying at temperatures dipping to minus 60 degrees Celsius. One of Europe's major airports has installed these bizarre custom-made hangar doors to accommodate the world's largest passenger plane. The doors at Munich Airport have been made with a large hole in the middle so they can close around the Airbus A380 leaving the tail fin sticking outside of the hangar. Before the new rail-mounted gates were installed, the giant planes could only be maintained with the hangar doors left open, leaving mechanics and maintenance workers shivering on cold days. https://www.dailymail.co.uk/travel/travel_news/article-6396857/Airport-installs-custom-hangar-doors-accommodate-worlds-largest-passenger-planes.html

An additional 168 guestrooms and suites will be located in a seven-storey 'pool tower' that will flank the pool complex. It will bring the total number of guestrooms and suites at the Seminole Hard Rock to more than 1,300. Meanwhile, the casino will have 3,267 slot machines and 178 table games such as blackjack and baccarat, plus a new 18,000-square-foot poker room.

Photos show how Hard Rock's zany 450ft-high $1.5 billion guitar-shaped hotel is taking shape, with its body already in place. The 36-storey glass tower, which rises high above the Hollywood, Florida, skyline, is set to open next summer, 2019 and guests will be able to stay in rooms spanning the width of the instrument and running up along the fretboard. While some people say the eye-catching complex will boost tourism in the city, some have slammed the building for being a 'ugly' and so big that it's 'probably visible from outer space'. https://www.dailymail.co.uk/travel/travel_news/article-6341761/Hard-Rocks-1-5-billion-450ft-high-guitar-shaped-hotel-casino-takes-shape.html Lalasticlala, Mynd44
