Some people laid coins along the tracks that wound through small town Texas so a 420,000-pound locomotive pulling the nation's first funeral train in nearly half a century could crunch them into souvenirs. Steven Lowry, 7, picks through the rocks underneath the train tracks moments after the memorial train for President George H.W. Bush had passed through Pinehurst, Texas, on Thursday, Dec. 6, 2018. Many people who watched the train pass by took rocks or coins that were flattened by the train as keepsakes.

The U.S. flag above the White House flew at half-staff in Bush's honor on Monday, along with flags at all other federal buildings. As Monday's motorcade procession took up the southbound lanes of Interstate 45, drivers on the northbound lanes pulled over in a miles-long show of respect. The locomotive chosen for his final journey was customized in Bush's honor in 2005 and painted with the number '4141' in his honor. He marveled at its unveiling that year and asked to take it for a ride. On Thursday his casket will be in a train car with Plexiglas windows to allow people to see it during the trip. The 41st president died at his Houston home on Friday night, seven months after his wife Barbara passed away. Bush will be laid to rest alongside his wife of 73 years and Robin Bush, their daughter who died of leukemia in 1953 at age 3.

Nigerian President Muhammadu Buhari on Sunday quashed a rumour stemming from his ill health that he had died and been replaced by a lookalike impostor from Sudan, his spokesman said. Buhari tweeted on Sunday that he addressed the reports while at a meeting in Poland. 'One of the questions that came up today in my meeting with Nigerians in Poland was on the issue of whether I've been cloned or not,' Buhari said. 'The ignorant rumors are not surprising, when I was away on medical vacation last year a lot of people hoped I was dead.' 'It's real me, I assure you. I will soon celebrate my 76th birthday and I will still go strong,' Buhari said as he met with the Nigerian diaspora in Poland, where he is attending the UN COP24 climate summit in Katowice. He was answering a question from the audience about repeated claims spread via tweets, Facebook posts and YouTube videos that the leader of Africa's most populous nation was an imposter called 'Jubril'. 'A lot of people hoped that I died during my ill health. Some even reached out to the Vice President to consider them to be his deputy because they assumed I was dead,' Buhari said, according to a statement signed by his spokesman Garba Shehu. He referred to those who started the rumour as 'ignorant' and 'irreligious'. 'It's real me, I assure you. Meanwhile, Air Force One arrived in Texas on Sunday to transport Bush's body to Washington for a state funeral. Bush spokesman Jim McGrath tweeted a photo of the presidential plane on a tarmac Sunday afternoon. The aircraft will be temporarily renamed and redesignated as 'Special Air Mission 41' as it is only referred to as Air Force One whenever the sitting President is on board. Trump will send his presidential plane to pick up the remains of George H.W. Bush in Texas. Air Force technicians will rip out a cabin full of seats to make room for the former president's casket. Flags are flying at half-staff at all federal buildings, and Trump has declared Wednesday a day of mourning.

A heartbreaking image shows George H.W. Bush’s service dog lying next to the 41st President’s coffin in Houston on Sunday. The image shows ‘Sully,’ a specially trained golden lab, mournfully lying down as Bush’s flag-draped coffin is seen a few feet from him. Baker said Bush had been fading over the last week spending most of his time sleeping and not eating. He refused to be taken to the hospital as friends and family members flocked to the house to say goodbye. Bush's final words were 'I love you' on a speakerphone call with his son, George W. Bush. https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-6451343/George-H-W-Bushs-service-dog-Sully-lying-former-presidents-coffin.html?_e_pi_=7%2CPAGE_ID10%2C6951080960 Lalasticlala, Mynd44

The Nigerian Army has challenged its Special Forces to prove that they have better training and tactics than terrorists by making the difference and positive impact in the ongoing counter-terrorism operations. The Chief of Army of Staff, Lt.-Gen. Tukur Buratai, gave the charge in Maiduguri on Sunday, while addressing the Armed Forces Special Forces and Army Strike Group deployed in the North-East. “You are selected specially and deployed here in the North East. You are given special training and that is why you are called Special Forces. “I am here to tell you that you have a great job to do and you must do it properly. “You are deployed in the North-East to make a difference because of your special training. If there will be any challenge in terms of capacity, I believe you will fill that gap and you have all it takes to do that. “If you apply the training that you are given, we all have cause to be proud to belong the armed forces of our great country,’’ Buratai said. He warned them against exhibiting cowardice, saying “we do not have time for the chicken-hearted, the cowards. “You all must brace up and be brave. We have done the greatest job so far in the North-East; the greatest in terms of degrading the terrorists. “We are better trained, better equipped. We know tactics better than them and what is remaining for us is to dominate everywhere and dominate our areas of responsibilities. “We must dominate the whole of the North-East.’’ He added that “the terrorists must no longer be allowed the freedom to move about and commit heinous crime and escape. “They must be dealt with squarely. We must say no to their vain and invalid threats. “Henceforth, there should be no dull moment in our operations. There should be no gap, but make a difference.’’ https://punchng.com/prove-you-are-better-than-boko-haram-fighters-buratai-tells-special-forces/

Photos of husbands and boyfriends shopping with their significant others and the all-consuming agony they endure. Men spending hours waiting, sitting on a bench. I can relate well, so annoying. Only God knows what they're looking for, from one store to another, or checking 10 stores without buying anything. But i prefer moving around with them than staying in the car in the sun. After going for about 3hours, she will come back to the car with stuffs, you thinking she's done, then 'Oh God i forgot something something, please give me a minute to get it'. Thats another 1hour. https://www.boredpanda.com/funny-miserable-men-shopping-photos/?_e_pi_=7%2CPAGE_ID10%2C8406870994 Lalasticlala, Mynd44

Earlier this month, November, 2018, we shared with you about Allyn Pierce, a brave nurse who risked his life, limb, and truck to save his patients and colleagues form the deadly California wildfires. After Pierce posted photos of his burnt Toyota Tundra on social media, Toyota applauded his heroic actions and offered to replace his truck. Toyota has made good on its promise and delivered a new 2018 Toyota Tundra TRD Pro to Pierce. Pierce's last Tundra was lightly customized to meet his needs. But Rockstar had offered to build Pierce's new Tundra in any configuration that he would want. The nurse's old truck had been burnt into its crispy marshmallow-like color after Pierce drove it through the California wildfires (not once, but twice) to shuttle patients from his hospital's ICU to safety. In fact, the entire hospital staff worked diligently to set up a triage in the parking lot of the facility as it became engulphed in flames, protecting the patients until emergency crews could carve out a safe a venue away through the blaze for the workers to whisk away the remaining patients in a convoy of their own personal vehicles. A Warlord Declared Ron Haviv Wanted For Exposing War Crimes. Photographer Ron Haviv almost lost his life for taking pictures that implicated fighters in the Serbian Tigers unit of war crimes during the 1992 Bosnian War. The most iconic was the picture of a fighter kicking the body of a woman whom his colleagues had just killed. Haviv was with the paramilitary members at the time of the killings. He watched the fighters drag a man out of his house before shooting him on the street. They later shot his wife and her sister. Haviv secretly took photographs of the shootings, although the Serbian paramilitary members were not captured in the frames. One Serbian fighter soon walked up to the dead family and kicked their bodies. Haviv took this picture, too. However, the fighters heard his camera click and looked at him. Their commander, Zeljko Raznjatovic (aka Arkan), later collected the film from Haviv and promised to return the processed photographs. Arkan did not realize that Haviv had swapped the roll of film and hidden the one containing evidence of the war crimes. Later, Haviv published the pictures. This angered Arkan, who vowed to kill Haviv. Some of his fighters later arrest other photographers after mistaking them for Haviv.

James Akena Was Beaten By Ugandan Soldiers For Taking Pictures During An Anti-Government Protest. On August 20, 2018, photojournalist James Akena was attacked by Ugandan soldiers as he took pictures during an anti-government protest. A chilling video shot by another person shows one soldier approach Akena and start whipping him with a cane. The soldier is joined by two others, one of whom also has a cane. As the three men beat Akena, the soldier without a cane spots the person shooting the video. He barely pulls away from Akena and his colleagues when he aims his rifleat the individual making the video and fires a shot. The video stops at this point, although it does not seem like the person was killed. Akena was taken away after the assault. Later, the Ugandan army stated that the soldiers involved would be disciplined. However, this was probably a save-face gesture as they were only responding because the video went viral. Human Rights Watch observed that Ugandan police and military officers had often beaten journalists who took photographs during anti-government protests and those officers had faced no consequences.

Tracey Shelton Was Almost Killed After An Armored Tank Fired At Her Position. In 2012, Tracey Shelton was covering theSyrian Civil Warwhen she was almost killed by a shell fired by a Syrian Arab Army (SAA) tank. The SAA is the official army of the Syrian government. Their primary opponent is the Free Syrian Army (FSA), a group of rebel factions that want Bashar al-Assad to step down as president of Syria. The rebels involved here were from the Noor Den al-Zenke battalion. Shelton was with them before the tank arrived and had been taking their photographs as they cleaned their position. The pictures showed them joking and laughing. The rebels soon received information that there was an SAA tank in their area. They rushed to their weapons and tried engaging the tank when the combat vehicle fired. Shelton took the photograph the moment the shell hit the rebels. The picture shows three rebels in front with a fourth behind them. Shelton was behind the fourth rebel. The rebels could not take cover before the shell exploded. All three in front were killed. The rebel behind them survived with injuries. Shelton was unhurt, though she was covered in dust and smoke. The bodies of the three dead rebels were recovered and taken away while new fighters were drafted to replace them.

Mark Laita Took A Picture Of Himself As He Was Bitten By A Deadly Black Mamba. The black mamba is one of the world’s most deadly venomous snakes. A bite will kill a human in a few hours. Not many people have lived after a bite from this type of snake. Photographer Mark Laita became one of those few when he survived a bite in 2012. Interestingly, Laita took a picture of the snake the moment it bit him. At the time, Laita was working on a book about snakes. He had traveled to Central America where hetook pictures of some snakes held by a collector. The collector had removed the venom glands of most of the snakes but not the mamba. The mamba continued moving closer to Laita during the photo shoot. Then it attacked when the collector hit Laita’s camera cable while trying to capture the snake. The mamba got scared and lunged at Laita, biting him in the leg.
