ABUJA The Nigerian Army has said pictures and videos of alleged killings of military personnel by Boko Haram terrorists trending online were doctored propaganda materials by the terrorists. This was even as it threatens legal action against media platforms circulating the documents, saying it would henceforth not spare individuals or groups who deliberately spread fake news that aimed to undermine national security. The army, in an unsigned statement posted on its Facebook wall late yesterday, insisted that “the videos and images making rounds as the purported attack on Metele base are false and do not in any way portray the reality of the situation on the ground.” https://www.vanguardngr.com/2018/11/pictures-videos-of-alleged-killing-of-soldiers-in-metele-doctored-by-terrorists-army/?_e_pi_=7%2CPAGE_ID10%2C6380461821

Not only in Lagos, is everywhere, even my small Ondo town here. Oyinbo that manufactured the motorbikes attached mirrors for safety , but we Nigerians removed them. We also turn the head lamps up to the sky, you see the ray at night towards the sky. They reduce the lenght of the steering/handle so they can easily maneuver between cars in traffic(i asked one of them) . They also raise their seats high and anytime they apply brakes, you slide forward and you shift back again/ladies that carry will hit them from behind charging the riders. They also attach mp3 players with loud speaker, so embarrassing. They fix siren and annoying horns. These guys will never sit straight on their bikes, they bend, looking back at their exhaust as they fire on high speed. Some even sit on their fuel tanks despite carrying no one. Some wearing slippers will hold it with the tip of their toes, then press their pedal with nothing. They overtake from left, right, centre, anytime and anywhere. If they hit your car, they dont have money. They kneel/postrate begging if you're a man. If they hit a woman's car, 100 bikes will gather in 10seconds, attacking/blaming the woman. But some women are crazy. Okada....Hmmmmmm |
SenatorBudoma:That video is scary and shocking bro. Moving from one dead soldier to another and giving them another shot in the head just to make sure they're all dead. No secured base/camp perimeters, no radar in their bases to detect incoming attack from miles away, no communication system, no backup, expired weapons and equipments. In developed countries, if soldiers are setting up just temporary camp/base anywhere, it will be up to a life time standard and secured no matter how small the size. Perimeter will be like a mile away with air/ground defence system, communication gadgets, armory, generators and both ground and air support few miles away. If soldiers are travelling in danger zones like this, they deploy drones ahead their route first to detect ambush and to guide them with their motorcade full of armoured cars/humvees and a communication vehicle. (Ground/air support not far o in case) Serious people/Government that value lives of citizens, that's what they do. We can afford these things, but we wont just do the right thing here. Men at Nigeria/Chad border/Borno, you giving them hilux and staying in holes and under trees camp like animals The more the pain/agony/suffering/crying of the people, the richer they become.

The Nigerian Army has threatened to sue individuals and groups that disseminate fake videos, stories and photos of purported Boko Haram attacks against the military. In a statement on its social media pages, the army said it was dismayed at the indiscriminate publication of and distribution of videos purported of the attack on soldiers in Metele village, Borno State. It warned that such actions were capable of undermining national security and could not be allowed to continue unchecked. https://www.channelstv.com/2018/11/24/nigerian-army-threatens-legal-action-over-fake-videos-of-boko-haram-attacks/?utm_source=FB&utm_medium=ChannelsTv&utm_campaign=SNAP%2Bfrom%2BChannels+Television

The investigation began after police were contacted by the US consulate in the southern city of Chennai. Police surveyed the island by air Tuesday, and a team of police and forest department officials used a coast guard boat to travel there Wednesday. Another trip was planned for Thursday. P.C Joshi, an anthropology professor at Delhi University who has studied the islands said that Chau 'invited aggression' and 'it was 'a foolish adventure'. Joshi noted that the visit not only risked Chau's life, but also the lives of islanders who have little resistance to many diseases. 'They are not immune to anything. A simple thing like flu can kill them,' he said. With help from a friend, Chau hired fishermen for $325 to take him there on a boat, Pathak said. After the fishermen realized Chau had been killed, they left for Port Blair, the capital of the island chain, where they broke the news to Chau's friend, who in turn notified his family, Pathak said. 7 people have been detained now including his friend and owner of the boat.

Indian authorities have admitted that they will struggle to recover the body of an American Christian missionary who was killed after wading ashore on an island cut off from the modern world. John Allen Chau was killed last week by North Sentinel islanders who shot him with arrows and then dragged his body away. Dependera Pathak, director-general of police on India's Andaman and Nicobar Islands, where North Sentinel is located, said: 'It's a difficult proposition. We have to see what is possible, taking utmost care of the sensitivity of the group and the legal requirements.' He added that police are now consulting anthropologists, tribal welfare experts and scholars to figure out a way to recover the body. While visits to the island are heavily restricted, Chau paid fishermen last week to take him near North Sentinel, using a kayak to paddle to shore and bringing gifts including a football and fish.

'Please do not be angry at them': John Chau's letter to his parents You guys might think I'm crazy in all this but I think it's worth it to declare Jesus to these people. Please do not be angry at them or at God if I get killed. Rather please live you lives in obedience to whatever he has called you to and I'll see you again when you pass through the veil.

The Sentinelese tribe are an indigenous tribe who live on North Sentinal Island, lies around 450 miles from the coast of Thailand and more than 745 miles from mainland India. The Sentinelese tribe has attacked almost everyone who has entered their territory. Because of their rejection of the outside world, little is known about them including what they call themselves. What is known has been gleaned from viewing them from boats moored far enough away from the tribesmen, who carry spears, bows and arrows, or from the few times the tribe allowed authorities to come close enough to hand over coconuts. The Sentinelese attracted international attention in the wake of the 2004 Asian tsunami, when a member of the tribe was photographed on a beach, firing arrows at a helicopter that was checking on their welfare. Today, the island is out of bounds even to the Indian navy in a bid to protect its reclusive inhabitants who number only about 150.

He went ashore in his kayak on November 15 and sent the boat with the fishermen out to sea to avoid detection. Chau interacted with some of the tribespeople, offering gifts such as a football and fish but they became angry and shot an arrow at him, hitting a book he was carrying. After his kayak was damaged, Chau swam back to the fishermen's boat, which was waiting at a prearranged location. He spent the night writing about his experiences on journal pages that he then gave the fishermen. He set out again to meet the tribespeople on November 16 and never returned. Pathak said the following day the fishermen watched from a distance as the tribesmen dragged Chau's body away. Chau's journal entries dated between November 14 to 16 have shed some light on what occurred when he first arrived at the island, including how he initially panicked when he saw the tribe's bows. He detailed how he tried to offer fish to the tribesmen before 'two armed Sentinelese came rushing out yelling'. He said he came face to face with the islanders and at one point was 'just inches' away. Chau took a boat ride with the fishermen before venturing alone in a canoe to North Sentinel Island (pictured, a file photo shows tribesmen on the island)

An American missionary who was shot dead with arrows by a tribe he wanted to convert on a remote Indian island wrote a letter to his parents asking them not to be 'mad at them or at God' if he was killed. John Allen Chau, 26, was shot dead with arrows by tribesman when he arrived at North Sentinel Island one of the world's most isolated regions in India's Andaman islands that is off-limits to visitors. He had paid local fishermen to take him there before venturing alone in a kayak to the shore on November 15. Chau was shot by the Sentinelese tribe after arriving on the island, according to a fisherman who helped him get there. Chau was able to safely return to the boat but made his way back to the island the following day, which is when the fishermen said they later saw the tribe dragging his body away. https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-6415649/Christian-missionarys-letter-family-killed.html

A man who took a selfie before and after being involved in a bus crash has gone viral on social media. The photos seem to have been taken in Mozambique and appear to show a 65-passenger bus traveling between Quelimane to Beira. Some local reports also suggest that people were killed in the crash, including a mother and her two-year-old son. The man can be seen posing for a selfie before getting on the bus, with fellow passengers climbing on in the background, including families with children. The second selfie shows the man in a similar position but without his half-smile as police and passengers surround the overturned bus. It resulted in injuries to at least 37 people with some of them being serious. They are believed to have been rushed to Gorongosa health centre, where they are receiving medical treatment. According to district administrator Manuel Jamaica the accident may have been caused by speeding. However, the driver, Amisse Mussa, 48, blamed mechanical failure, which he said made it impossible for him to control the vehicle on the bridge. Some passengers are also thought to have reported the driver for driving too fast and claim that he ignored repeated requests to slow down. https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-6419025/Bus-passengers-crash-selfies-viral-coach-overturns-road-Mozambique.html?_e_pi_=7%2CPAGE_ID10%2C6503855289 Lalasticlala, Mynd44

The Yangsigang Bridge's span is 221 metres (725 feet) shorter than that of Japan's Akashi Kaiky¿ Bridge (pictured), the longest suspension bridge in the world. But the Japanese bridge, only has one deck.
|
Each of the bridge's 49 beams measures 36 meters (118 feet) long, 32.5 meters (107 feet) wide and 10 meters (33 feet) tall.
|
The enormous Yangsigang Bridge is expected to complete next October. The enormous bridge over the Yangtze River will be the world's longest double-deck suspension bridge when it's complete. It will have six lanes on the upper deck, six lanes on the lower deck as well as a cycle lane and a pedestrian footpath at either side, reported Xinhua News Agency.

China is building the world's longest double-deck suspension bridge. The Yangsigang Bridge boasts a single span of 1,700 metres (5,577 feet) over the Yangtze River and will cost a whopping eight billion yuan (£900 million) to construct. The bridge's span is 221 metres (725 feet) shorter than that of Japan's Akashi Kaikyō Bridge, the longest suspension bridge in the world. But the Japanese bridge, which crosses the busy Akashi Strait, only has one level. The news comes less than a month after China opened the world's longest sea-crossing bridge at 34 miles, linking Hong Kong, Macau and Zhuhai. A 1,000-tonne steel beam is lifted to be installed at the construction site of the Yangsigang Bridge in China last Thursday. https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-6398513/China-building-worlds-longest-double-deck-suspension-bridge-5-570ft-span.html?_e_pi_=7%2CPAGE_ID10%2C2945574507 Lalasticlala, Mynd44
