In overturning her conviction, the ruling said the evidence against Bibi was insufficient. Bibi did not appear in the courtroom and her whereabouts were a closely held secret for fear of attacks on her and her family. Supporters of Islamist political party Tehreek-e-Labaik (TLP) immediately condemned Wednesday’s ruling and blocked roads in major cities, pelting police with stones in the eastern city of Lahore. Street protests and blockades of major roads were spreading by mid-afternoon, paralyzing parts of Islamabad, Lahore and other cities. One of the TLP’s top leaders called for the death of Nisar, the chief justice, and the two other judges on the panel. “They all three deserve to be killed. Either their security should kill them, their driver kill them, or their cook kill them,” TLP co-founder Muhammad Afzal Qadri told a protest in Lahore. “Whoever, who has got any access to them, kill them before the evening.”

Pakistan’s Supreme Court on Wednesday freed a Christian woman from a death sentence for blasphemy against Islam and overturned her conviction, sparking angry protests and death threats from an ultra-Islamist party and cheers from human rights advocates. Asia Bibi, a mother of four, had been living on death row since 2010, when she became the first woman to be sentenced to death by hanging under Pakistan’s draconian blasphemy laws, which critics say are too harsh and often misused. She was condemned for allegedly making derogatory remarks about Islam after neighbors objected to her drinking water from their glass because she was not Muslim. Bibi has always denied committing blasphemy. The case has outraged Christians worldwide, Pope Francis said he personally prayed for Bibi and has been a source of division within Pakistan, where two politicians who sought to help Bibi were assassinated. https://www.reuters.com/article/us-pakistan-blasphemy/protests-after-pakistan-frees-christian-woman-sentenced-to-death-over-blasphemy-idUSKCN1N42YK

Canada is prioritizing the deportation of asylum seekers who walked across the border from the United States illegally. More than 36,000 people have walked into Canada from the United States to file refugee claims since January 2017, many saying they feared U.S. President Donald Trump’s election promise and policy to crack down on illegal immigration. The influx has thrown the Canadian asylum system into turmoil and caused a political uproar in a country accustomed to picking and choosing its newcomers. https://www.reuters.com/article/us-canada-immigration-deportation-exclus/exclusive-canada-rushes-to-deport-asylum-seekers-who-walked-from-u-s-data-idUSKCN1N52V6

Indonesian President Joko Widodo (right) greets Saudi Foreign Minister Adel Al-Jubeir in his Bogor presidential palace on October 22, 2018, only a week before Tuti Tursilawati was executed. The execution was the fourth of an Indonesian worker in three years where the Saudis failed to give prior notice to Jakarta. There are currently 18 Indonesian migrant workers on death row in Saudi Arabia. An Indonesian migrant worker, Muhammad Zaini Misrin, was executed in March this year for killing his employer, and two Indonesian female domestic workers, Siti Zaenab and Karni, were beheaded in April 2015.

* Mother-of-one Tuti Tursilawati said she was acting in self-defence. * Riyadh hasn't given Jakarta prior notice of an execution three times in four years. Indonesian maid Tuti Tursilawati was executed by Saudi Arabia after she killed her boss who was raping her. Jakarata has demanded to know why Saudi Arabia didn't give prior notice of the execution. Ms Tursilawati, who was working in the city of Ta'if, was found guilty of killing her employer in June 2011. Indonesian President President Joko Widodo called Saudi Arabia's foreign minister, Adel al-Jubeir, demanding to know why Jakarta had not been informed about Monday's execution of mother-of one Tuti Tursilawati. It was the fourth time in three years that Saudi Arabia had failed to notify Jakarta before executing an Indonesian migrant worker. 'We have called Saudi Arabia's foreign minister and conveyed our protest,' Mr Widodo was quoted as saying by the office of his cabinet secretary. Indonesian advocacy group Migrant Care said in September that Ms Tuti Tursilawati had been defending herself from being raped. The Saudi ambassador to Indonesia had been summoned to discuss the matter, the president said, but the Saudi embassy in Jakarta did not answer calls seeking comment. 'The kingdom of Saudi Arabia has ignored principles of human rights, including a right for everyone to live,' said Abidin Fikri, a member of Indonesia's parliament. https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-6338277/Execution-Indonesian-maid-killed-employer-raped-sparks-outrage.html?_e_pi_=7%2CPAGE_ID10%2C2762937118

A plane passenger is lucky to be alive after traffic made him late for the doomed Lion Air flight that crashed in to the sea off Indonesia. Sony Setiawan, an official in Indonesia's finance ministry was due to be among the 189 people on board flight JT 610 when it took off early from the capital Jakarta on Monday morning. But he was held up on his commute to Soekarno-Hatta International Airport because of the city's notorious road congestion and never boarded the Boeing-737. Minutes after takeoff, the plane disappeared from radar before plunging 5,000ft in to the Java Sea. Officials do not expect to find any survivors. Setiawan took a later flight to Pangkal Pinang on another airline. Picture show him surrounded by journalists after arriving safely today. https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-6328681/The-luckiest-man-alive-Passenger-missed-doomed-Lion-Air-flight-stuck-traffic.html

MissJoy29:In Nigeria, every corner of a street, town, city there will be motor parks. But a state will have only one airport serving how many people. Use Lagos alone as an example, number of passengers, drivers in private cars, commercial buses, BRTs everyday and number of plane flying. Most people cannot afford to fly. |

It avoided busy roads and the last of the 31,000 fans who were still in the area along with dozens of police officers. The doomed Leicester City helicopter pilot may have been become stuck in a ‘dead man’s curve’ after the aircraft’s tail rotor failed, experts suggested last night The scene of the crash has been sealed off by police officers with a sheet covering one end of the helicopter in the stadium's car park. A graphic shows the locations around the King Power Stadium which the crashed helicopter could have threatened.
