OfficeGirl link=topic=241401.msg3573666#msg3573666:
what amazes me the most about this guy is that he is a born again Christian; according to him o! and he is an usher in his church, that is one of the reasons i even got into the relationship in the first place. so, I'm still really confused about his behaviour, i still cant phantom his reasons behind his behavior, each time i ask him and confront him, he tells me he has been very busy with work and stuffs! I think i just have to end it all!
Born again indeed! Sorry dearie but he's just not that into you and you can do so much better wink

To those who are saying it's a trivial matter, why isn't it also trivial for the guy? Why is it so important that he wants her to change her name? I'm not saying he cannot want this, all I'm asking is that isn't there a better argument for his case? Because saying it's a trivial matter doesn't make sense to me since it seems it should be a trivial matter to both sides. No? Please enlighten me.
I personally think it's trivial because being in a relationship means you have to make sacrifices. It's a give and take situation. Both partners have different idealogies but if they each stick to their various ways of thinking without making some form of compromise then i see no reason they should be marriage in the first place. Besides, what's in a name-change if it's a guy the girl really wants to spend the rest of her life with. There will definitely be other situations where the guy also has to compromise for the girl he loves, wink
PoliticsRe: Marwa Berates Nigerians For Spying For S'african Police by EyenEfik(f): 3:48pm On Mar 10, 2009
I am ashamed of the crimes some of our naija people commit but there is always a dilemma when it comes to doing the right thing and reporting.

@ Kobojunkie,

I agree with you on some aspects of your reasoning concerning aiding and abetting these naija criminals that spoil our image. But i have to ask you, would you report to the police if your friend is using someone's else paper (with the person's permission) to work in order to make ends meet.

I ask this because i know someone whose parents are no longer able to pay her tuition and for this she had to drop out of school because of outstanding fees owed to the university. All her papers (study permit, work permit) need to be renewed and the only way to renew them is by being a registered full-time student in the university. The only way she is surviving now is by using another person's paper to work (the person is nigerian canadian). She hasn't been in school for more than a year now because she is trying to make enough money to pay up the fees and other expenses,

Now the ethical question: As an upright Nigerian, do i rat my friend out because she is breaking a Canadian law and what right do i have to do so when the person whose papers she is using is aware and not averse to the idea.

Now i understand the importance of individual contributions to building our image but what do you do when it's people that are close to you. This girl in question was offered yahoo ways to get money but she chose to work even though its with someone's identity.

These questions are also meant for you nairalanders,

Yeah, it didn't work for me, my sis and my mum. So i'll still call it rubbish.
I can't remember the names of the products because it was a long time ago. Still won't forget the experience.
Very understandable, I stopped using Mkay for a while because i wanted to try other products that were supposedly meant for black skin but they messed up my skin a bit so i had to go back. And it has improved my skin a LOT, But people's skin aint the same,

@ Poster

I sometimes wonder about that too but thankfully I have a very understanding man who isn't bugged down by all this traditional societal norms.

However, this isn't a big deal. Whether you take up his name or you keep your dad's name, its being with the man you love that matters. I'll love to keep ma daddy's name but my relationship with my boo takes precedence over such trivial matters.  smiley
FashionRe: Mary Kay Products by EyenEfik(f): 3:54pm On Mar 09, 2009
Marykay products are great. For those people complaining of acne, try the Blemish Control Toner and for those that have dark spots, try the Timewise Even Complexion Essence. As with other beauty products, Marykay might be good for one person and not for the other. It is great for me!

Marykay also offers a wide range of normal products other than anti-aging products like Timewise. I used to use thier Velocity. It is effective on younger skin. They have other classic basic skin care for all skin types as well. But women above 25 should really opt for the Timewise collection.

Pls people you have to try their mineral foundation. Liquid foundation can be a bit too much but the mineral foundation goes on smooth and looks really natural.
