The Anambra North People’s Assembly has endorsed Governor Willie Obiano for the Anambra governorship election, slated for November 18.

The group made the endorsement at the end of its meeting in Aguleri, near Awka on Monday.

The assembly said that Obiano was adopted as its sole candidate because of his achievements in the past three and half years.

The endorsement followed a motion moved by a political stalwart, Chief Mike Areh, and seconded by the member representing Anambra East Constituency in the state’s house of assembly, Mr Obinna Emenaka.

The group had constituted a committee, headed by a former Minister of Health, Dr Tim Menakaya.

They were given the mandate to select a suitable candidate from all the political parties.

Menakaya told newsmen that Obiano was found eligible to pilot the affairs of the state for the next four years.

Collaborating Menakaya’s statement, a Federal lawmaker, Mr Gabriel Onyenwife (APGA-Oyi), said that Obiano had done well and deserved a second term.

He said, “I have been in the Anambra State House of Assembly since 2007 to 2015 and headed various sensitive committees.

“I can give an account of financial transactions in the state and can commend Obiano’s style of leadership, he is doing very well.

“The governor had done credibly well as a person. We should give him a second chance to finish his mission for the state.”

Some elected officers from Anambra North Senatorial District were present at the meeting, including members of the state assembly from the area as well as Sen. Emma Anosike.

Residents of Akwanga Local Government Area of Nasarawa State have called on the government to check the rampant cases of kidnapping and rape in the area.

Gunmen had recently kidnapped a popular traditional herbalist in the area, Dr Dennis Nakowa, who was later found dead in Gudi in Akwanga.

Some of the resident urged the government to provide a 24-hour security patrol in the entire state to curb criminal activities.

One of the residents, Mr Sunday Taka, described the level of insecurity in the area as worrisome.

Taka urged the police and other security agencies in the state to beef up their patrol to secure lives and property.

He said, “The incessant armed robbery attacks, kidnapping, rape across communities in the state is worrisome not only to the residents of Akwanga but to the people of the entire state.

“The activities of these criminals are adversely affecting our socio-economic development.

“Apart from stealing people’s property, farm products, harassment and killing of people, at times they even go to farms to rape women who are doing their farming activities.”

Taka said that gunmen had also kidnapped a herbalist popularly known as Dr Nakowa, in Moroa, an area close to Akwanga.

He said, “They killed one of his aides who tried to resist them and the body of the herbalist was later found.

“The rate of kidnapping, rape and other crimes in the state is increasing daily.”

He called on the people of the area to be security conscious and to report any suspicious movement to the appropriate authorities for necessary action.

Another resident, Mrs Laraba Akaga, said the situation had created fear in the minds of people of the area, especially women.

The Commissioner of police in the state, Abubakar Sadiq-Bello, urged the people of the area to be providing the police with information that would assist them to effectively tackle the menace.

Sadiq-Bello also called for more logistic support to the police such as patrol vehicles, to enable them to achieve
the objective.

A frontline lawyer, Aare Afe Babalola (SAN), on Sunday threw his weight behind the tradition of appointing the most senior Justice of the Supreme Court as the Chief Justice of Nigeria.

Babalola, in a write-up titled, “Appointment of the Chief Justice of Nigeria: Matters arising,” argued that the tradition, which began in 1995, had brought stability to the judiciary and should not be tinkered with.

He spoke against the background of the delayed confirmation of Justice Walter Onnoghen, who is currently the most senior Supreme Court Justice, as the substantive CJN.

There had been a raging debate among lawyers on whether or not the tradition of appointing the most senior Supreme Court Justice as the CJN should stop or continue.

One of the leading voices calling for the suspension of the tradition is Prof. Itse Sagay (SAN), who argued that the practice had bred corruption and mediocrity.

However, Babalola warned against changing the practice.

He said, “The precedence of appointing the most senior jurist on the Supreme Court bench as the CJN should not be dispensed with as any departure from that time-tested practice is bound to rock the boat and we will all be worse for it.

“The appointment of the most senior Justice as the CJN, having become a norm and institutionalised, has continually fanned the embers of stability and autonomy of the Supreme Court. While the Court of Appeal has become an ever-flowing recruitment fountain for the Supreme Court, the office of the Chief Justice of Nigeria has become the entitlement of the most senior Justice.

“This should remain so. The case of Honorable Justice Walter Samuel Nkanu Onnoghen cannot be different. If this time-honoured practice since 1995 has been followed, the current acrimony about the appointment of the next CJN would have been avoided.

“Fortunately, the acting President, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo (SAN), has forwarded the name of Honourable Justice Onnoghen to the Senate for confirmation as the arrowhead of Nigeria’s judiciary. Hopefully, the Senate will do justice to the matter with dispatch and lay the matter to rest finally.”

I am a mature mind. I am a single guy. I don't associate as such and I so much detest affectionate relationship due to those negative things and report that come with it. Like infidelity.


In short, I am not in any relationship.

Loneliness and Boredom has eaten those good part of ME. Since I lost my MUM in 2011 things has become very worse because she was my best friend.

I met a Lady in 2013 when I resume as a student in the University. She has been very close to me. She is always by ME. At some point in time she will buy me gifts. A particular time I lost my phone she gave me one of her phones. She always come to my stay off campus. We are studying the same course the same level. She is a always happy seeing me. In fact, I am her only friend in the department and of course our level.
But I never for once go to her hostel. I also showers gifts on her without intentions or hidden agenda. I am just a free minded person who love to help anybody.

As time roll by, Pressure set in. People were disturbing me that I should talk to her. She too was expecting to ask about her life. As for Me I will rather be laughing. In short, I don't put my eye there. I only see her as a friend but very different.

To cut the story shut, I never for once asked about her personal life she will ask funny and childish questions but I don't give a damn. I cannot do without her but not on boy and gurlz affairs.

People know me as being very objective and technical. I don't do shit like that. I only see her as a God sent friend. The Lady set die. Very beautify with bumpy backside and light in complexion. Then I never had a gurlz friend in my life.. It was in the University I tasted one Ugly gurlz like that I thought she will be my wife. Because I believe my first Bleep will be my wife in life until the Lady Bleep up last year. E pain me ! I cried became she break my vow. Though I sent her away on infidelity and lie- lie ground.

This particular friend of pressured me to send her away which I did. She told me she was sent to replace my Mum .Though she knew I lost my Mum already. Anytime she comes to ME she is assuming the role of Mum and a girlfrenz. But as for ME I don't have time for her. She is a cynosure of all eye. She commands respect like my person. But I am still affected by my Mum's death years back.


Last year before my school fees was sent from home she has provided it. She is just angelic in her dealings with ME.


Truly I love her but she is not my type of gurlz. I am not perturbed by her religion because she is not the Almajiri type of Muslims.


She confronted ME and told me her flair and strong interest. But I told her to drop that kind of idea.

Now, I saw her in my dream she told me that she is my wife. I am not of afraid of this. But a lecturer in our department us eating from her honey pot. She told me that a Prophet told her such.

Pensioners from the 16 local governments in Kwara on Monday said they had begun a seven-day fasting and prayers for God’s intervention over unpaid N7 billion gratuities and pension by the councils. The Secretary of the Local Government Pensioners Association in Kwara, Alhaji Saidu Oladimeji, disclosed this to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in llorin. He said the over 6,000 pensioners had served the 16 councils diligently and were being owed N5 billion gratuity and over N2 billion pension arrears. The secretary said the essence of the seven days fasting and prayers was to seek God’s favour for the settlement of their entitlements. Oladimeji, who said the exercise was voluntary, added that majority of the pensioners were now septuagenarians. The secretary said since 2008, when the payments became epileptic, the association had lost 1,720 members across the areas. One of the members of the association and former Secretary of the state Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB) , Alhaji Zulu Umar, told NAN that several of his colleagues died without taking their gratuity. He attributed their death to various ailments and inability to buy drugs or access modern medical treatment following unpaid gratuities and pensions. Reacting to the fasting and prayers, the Chairman of the Association of Local Government of Nigeria (ALGON) , Alhaji lsiaka Danmairomu, described the exercise as the only solution. Danmairomu attributed the non payment of backlog of gratuities and pensions to current economic recession which brought about shortfall in monthly allocation to the councils. The ALGON chairman urged the fasting- pensioners to use the period to pray for the whole country, to overcome various challenges confronting it. The pensioners had, at a news conference on Feb. 16 in llorin, blamed the Kwara Government for allegedly being insensitive to their plight.
