conductor20000:
Boko Haram taqiya is too much on this people's head. Instead of proscribing Fulani bandits that are spreading jihad and killing people, they went and proscribed Hausa volunteer forces that are fighting against this Fulani banditry terrorists.

They have been doing this in state level since. They now stepped it in Federal level and stylishly announced it low key (without groundbreaking PR) to avoid raising dust leading to any suspicion or screening.

See for yourself.

Edit: This is how they "proscribed" IPOB and ESN and called them "terrorist" for fighting against real Fulani terrorists in Igboland and seized the opportunity to send police and military to crackdown on a harmless group that are protecting their lands from Fulani herdsmen terrorists and bandits.

It is a thing of pride and prestige to have.

It is responsibility.
It encompasses the history of your family, root and place in the contemporary Igbo society.

I don't know what will make a man sell a land his father and grandfathers built their Obis on.
It should be a sin to do so.

I want to know and understand why Igbos place so much value on Ancestral land than the one bought with money in this recent time/age ..

Take for example...A rich Igbo man would rather fight over a plot of land he believes that's from his ancestors and build house there to live, than buying plots of land to build a house of his choice inside the same community...

Is there any special thing about ancestral land than made people to attach so much importance to it ?

Again, Do people of olden days use to sell land to each other like this generation do ?

PoliticsRe: Soldiers Of The Nigerian Army Are Presently Raiding Oyo Town In Oyo State In A by Ezeama400: 7:41am On Oct 24, 2021
Emergingnation:
Soldiers of the Nigerian Army are presently raiding Oyo town in Oyo State in a mass arrest of youths and residents in the aftermath of the attack on the Nigerian Correctional Service facility in Abolongo, SaharaReporters has learnt.

Some residents on Saturday stated that the military personnel were harassing innocent residents when the Fulani terrorists who carried out the attacks had fled the town.

“Now the Nigerian soldiers are in Oyo town are patrolling and arresting young boys at random and taking them away. This is very unsettling to the Oyo natives,” a source said.

“If these random arrests continue, the Oyo natives will start to prepare how they will defend themselves through diabolical means from the armed government personnel,” another resident stated.

SaharaReporters had earlier reported that top prison officials said that the gunmen who carried out the attack did so to free the detained notorious Fulani warlord, Iskilu Wakili and other criminal Fulani herdsmen in the facility.

Sources had told SaharaReporters that the gunmen three days before the Friday invasion struck in Ogbomoso, a neighbouring town to Oyo, and the security operatives were also fully aware of their presence in the area.

“The attack in Oyo last night from the Ogbomosho axis was a well-coordinated Fulani attack aimed at securing the release of Wakili, the terrorist whom (Sunday Adeyemo) Igboho drove away from Ibarapa. I am informed by my staff and very reliable people that he was the object of that attack last night at about 10pm,” one of the top sources had said.

“The rest was just drama. My security staff told me the gunmen struck three days ago on the Oyo-Ogbomosho Road and around that time, their strange faces were also seen around an area the boys described to me. This was a well-coordinated attack with the objective to free Wakili and other Fulani inmates,” he added.

SaharaReporters had earlier reported that the entrance to the prison was blown with an explosive device while security officials at the prison fled for their safety.

Speaking with SaharaReporters on phone, the spokesman of the NCS, Olanrewaju Anjorin, had said; “Yes. It has been confirmed that the attack actually happened. And right now, the Comptroller of Nigerian Correctional Service (NCS) and other top officers are assessing the situation. But I can confirm to you that the incident actually happened."

On March 7, a joint team of Ibarapa security operatives, including the Oodua Peoples Congress, Vigilante, and other groups had arrested the notorious Fulani warlord terrorising Oyo communities, Wakili.

Wakili had been arrested after several attempts resulting in a gun battle.

There had been reports that Wakili and his gang were involved in the killings and kidnapping of several people in Ibarapa, Oke Ogun, Oyo State.

Wakili was nabbed barely seven days after his second-in-command, Isiaka Muhammadu, was arrested alongside four others.

The Aare Ona Kakanfo of Yorubaland, Gani Adams, had confirmed Wakili’s arrest in a statement.

Meanwhile, on June 7, no fewer than 17 persons were reportedly shot dead by gunmen suspected to be herdsmen at Igangan, in the Ibarapa North LGA.

Residents had said the hoodlums invaded the town on motorcycles around 11pm in an attack which continued until around 3am on Sunday.

They had fingered Wakili’s men on a revenge mission to be behind the attack.

17-Year-Old Who Got Highest 2019 UTME Score, Others Offered $4.35 Million Scholarships To Study In United States

Thirty Opportunity Funds Program scholars of the U.S. Consulate General in Lagos have received fully-funded scholarships totaling $4.35 million to attend American universities and colleges for the 2021/2022 academic session.

Following a competitive selection process, the 30 high-achieving, low-income students received financial aid from the U.S. Consulate General that covered expenses involved in the college application process such as payment for standardized tests, application fees, and visa fees in addition to air travel to the United States.

Ezeunala Ekene Franklin
One of the beneficiaries is a 17-year-old boy Ekene Ezeunala who scored the highest score at the 2019 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME).

Ezeunala, who got 347, attended Meiran Community Senior High School, Lagos and received full funding to study Computer Science and Mathematics at Columbia University in the City of New York.

The lucky US-bound students are selected for six undergraduates, three masters and twenty-one doctoral academic programs including Neuroscience, Biomedical Engineering, Bioinformatics, Computer Science and Engineering for the 2021/2022 academic session

According to a statement by Temitayo Famutimi, Information Specialist, Public Affairs Section of the United States Consular General in Victoria Island Lagos, on Thursday, the scholarship programs cover expenses for standardized tests, application fee and visa fees.

The statement reads, “Speaking on Thursday in Lagos during a reception in honor of the U.S. bound students, Consul General Claire Pierangelo urged the scholars to make the most of their opportunity to get a top-notch education while gaining the first-hand experience of American life and culture.

“I congratulate each one of you on your tremendous success. Your success is evidence of your leadership, academic performance, and the great potential young Nigerians hold for the future of this country.

“This is a very important step in your life. I strongly encourage you to maximize this opportunity. This is not just about your education as you have proven yourselves to be academically outstanding students.

"I am also referring to your chance to broaden your horizons and embrace the diversity of people around you and learn, not just about America, but also about other cultures,” Pierangelo told the departing students.

“Ekene Ezeunala, one of the 2021 Opportunity Fund Program scholars, achieved the highest score in Nigeria at the 2019 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination. The 17-year-old alumnus of Meiran Community Senior High School Lagos received full funding to study Computer Science and Mathematics at Columbia University in the City of New York,” Pierangelo said.

While speaking, Ezeunala said the Education USA Opportunity Funds Program is “a truly life-changing experience. EducationUSA opened up a whole new world of opportunities and resources I never knew were available to me.”

Another 2021 OFP scholar, Urinrin Otite, was the first student to earn a first-class degree in the Department of Civil Engineering at the University of Port Harcourt.

Otite will be attending Lehigh University in Pennsylvania where she received a fully-funded offer to pursue a doctoral degree in Civil Engineering with a research focus on the resilience and sustainability of structures and infrastructure systems.

“Looking back, the EducationUSA Opportunity Funds Program was the bridge I needed to reach my dream of studying in the U.S., and I would recommend reaching out to EducationUSA as the perfect first step to anyone hoping to study in the US,” Otite said.

Their impressive list of acceptances includes Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), Columbia University, Princeton University, Purdue University, University of Pennsylvania, among others.

According to the latest Institute of International Education Open Doors Report, Nigeria retained its top ranking as the number one source of African students studying in the United States. About 13,762 Nigerians study at more than 1,000 U.S. colleges and universities.

PoliticsThere Will Be No Peace - GAFDAN, Fulani Group Warns Southern Governors by Ezeama400(op): 9:42am On Jul 12, 2021
Open Grazing Ban: There’ll be no peace – Fulani group warns Southern govs

A Fulani group, Gan Allah Fulani Development Association, GAFDAN, has warned against the resolution of Southern governors to ban open grazing.

GAFDAN said a ban on open grazing would lead to a breakdown of peace between Northerners and Southerners.

The group insisted that the decision of the governors would groom hatred between Southerners and Northerners.

Southern governors under the umbrella of the Southern Governors’ Forum, SGF, had agreed to ban open grazing in their region.

During their meeting in Lagos State, the governors agreed that the ban would take effect from September 1.

However, GAFDAN’s National Secretary, Ibrahim Abdullahi, described the resolution as unfortunate and capable of affecting Nigeria’s unity.

Abdullahi said the resolution was impossible because they have not made an alternative plan for herders.

According to Abdullahi: “If you stop open grazing in the South, you are simply saying that those people should move to the North or they should move to other parts of the country. What happens if those in the North also ask the Southerners to leave?

“Are we promoting unity or hatred? What the governors are saying is practically impossible and it does not promote the unity of this country.

“You don’t stop people’s means of living and expect peace to reign. So, the implication is that the unity of Nigeria is going to be in question.

“You don’t expect those that will be affected to return to the North and live in peace with people from the South living in the North”.

If Southern Governors want to blackmail the North, they may lose the presidency – Miyetti Allah.
