Politics / Gov. Suntai Accuses His Deputy Of Betrayal by EzeJustme(m): 5:40am On Sep 27, 2013
AILING Taraba State Governor Danbaba Suntai has accused his deputy, Alhaji Garba Umar, of betrayal. Suntai said he least expected the deputy governor to lust for his (Suntai’s) office given the confidence he reposed in him.

Suntai, who spoke through his Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Mr. Sylvanus Yakubu, said the governor was not the only one that felt betrayed but the entire people of the state.

Yakubu, who was reacting to Umar’s statement on Tuesday that he was 100 per cent loyal to Suntai and would not undermine his authority, said, “His (Umar’s) activities are a direct opposite of what he keeps saying.”.

Yakubu, in a statement made available to newsmen in Jalingo, the Taraba State capital, on Thursday, added that he had personally lost the respect for Umar, who has been the state acting governor since October last year when Suntain sustained injuries when the small aircraft he flown crashed in nearby Adamawa.

“The deputy governor keeps talking of 100 per cent loyalty, but the reverse is the case; his people are in court against Governor Suntai,” he said.

Besides the allegation that Umar bribed the state lawmakers to transmit power to him to continue to act, he also accused the deputy governor of being the sole financier in the suit Danbaba filed against some members of the House of Assembly.

Yakubu said, “What we want is to see him (Umar) showing concern for the governor’s health, and loyalty to his principal, by negotiating with him on how to resolve the political impasse.

“The governor had on August 28 announced the dissolution of the executive and new appointments but Umar disregarded the dissolution. A cabal was trying to hijack the machinery of government.”

Meanwhile, a former Speaker of the Taraba State House of Assembly, Alhaji Habu Isa, has said that Umar’s continued stay in office as acting governor was constitutional.

Isa said in a statement on Thursday that Umar’s tenure as acting governor was in order since the House had passed a resolution for him to continue in that capacity till Suntail would be fit to resume his office.

He said, “The lawmakers were convinced that the governor they met was not the source of the letter of resumption sent to the House. Their efforts to set up a médical panel was blokked when by proxy the state executive council was dissolved. Left with no other option in the interim.

“The State Assembly passed a resolution mandating Alhaji Umar to continue in acting capacity.”

Is true am a christian but i always find it very difficult to attaind church services due to coruption in church and i never believ the people that parade themselves as man of God (pastors) as a true man of God. I have noticed that these new generation churches are money oriented. I neither give offery or tite but i love giving it to people that need it direct and right now i have decide not to go church anylonger. So is their anything wrong with my decission.
NB; i believ in God, i pray to myself and i hate intimidating people.

Politics / British May Suspend Aid To Nigeria Due To Gay Bill by EzeJustme(m): 9:59am On Jun 15, 2013
British Prime Minister, David Cameron, on Friday said his government might consider cutting off aid to Nigeria over same sex marriage bill passed by the House
of Representatives on Thursday. The Senate had passed its own version in November 2011.
Cameron spoke on aBritish Broadcasting Corporationprogramme monitored in Lagos.
He said he would take up the issue with President Goodluck Jonathan soon.
The prime minister said he would restate his government’s strong objection to the passage of the bill.
The prime minister was reacting to a question by a Nigerian resident in London, Bisi.
“When we meet with Nigerian politicians and leaders, we will be clear about those things we agreed on. We have to be clear where we disagree. We will make clear where we stand on those issues,” he said.
When asked whether Britain would consider stopping a projected 50 percent increase in aid to Nigeria or cutting it outright, Cameron said, “Nothing is off the table. We need tohave these conversations. We also have some very important objectives with Nigerians, for instance on how to deal with the appalling rates of poverty in Northern Nigeria, which are part of the problems confronting the country.”
Britain and some Western Nation had previously expressed oppositionto the bill.
Cameron had in October 2011 threatened to cut off aid to countries which ban gay and lesbians.

The captain then announced that the plane had developed an electrical fault and they were going to have an emergency landing. The plane had to turn around and head back to South Africa.
2face was spotted talking and calming his crew down, telling them not to panic. Miraculously, the tires came out and the plane successfully landed and the passengers were evacuated.

Crime / Mother Burns Son's Face And Stab Him On Head For Stealing Soup by EzeJustme(m): 3:36pm On May 25, 2013
A
25 year old petty trader has been arrested by police in Ibeju Lekki for
allegedly burning her 6 year old son'sface for going into their
neighbour's home and licking their soup.
Not only did Sakirat Attah burn her son's face with hot iron after the
neighbour reported her son to her, she also used a broken bottle to stab
young Daniel in the head. You can see the photo above. How you can
dothis to your own child is beyond me.
Sakirat took her son into their one room apartment after finding out
what he did, locked the door, lit a stove, put an iron spoon on it to
get hot and used it to burn his face and hands as punishment. And when
thatwasn't enough, she broke a bottle and stabbed him in the head,
leaving a deep cut. Daniel later told police he stole the soup because
he was hungry.
Neighbours who heard the little boy screaming for help entered the room
and rescued him from the mother. They rushed him to the hospital and
called the police on the mum.
Shakirat Attah has been charged before an Igbosere Magistrate's Courtin
Lagos on a one count charge of assaulting a minor occasioning
bodilyharm. She's currently in Kirikiri Prison, pending when she
fulfills her bail conditions. I hope they take this childaway from her.

Politics / Wife Of Serving House Of Reps Totured Tow Women by EzeJustme(m): 3:26pm On May 25, 2013
Wife of a serving House of Representatives member was fingered yesterday in the torture, beating and alleged attempt to kidnap two ladies in Isale Eko area of Lagos.
Sources say that yesterday morning at about 7.15a.m, a Toyota Camry car which was used for the operation caused a stir in Bamgbose Street in Lagos Island at the heart of Lagos metropolis.
Like a bolt from the blue, six unidentified ladies, carrying canes came out of the unregistered grey coloured car and advanced towards No 101, Bamgbose Street.
The unmasked ladies met one Alhaja Basidat Ajadi Balogun, a business woman resident in the street and repeatedly flogged her as she wept. (The woman pictured above)
Balogun, who was shouting at the top of her voice while the beating was going on, tried without success to find out from the rampaging ladies why she was being beaten.
According to a resident of the street, who pleaded not to be mentioned, while the severe beating was going on, Alhaja Jolaade Batola, wife of an influencial legislator, a House of Representatives member, representing Mainland federal constituency, was seen seated, inside the unregistered Toyota Camry car and giving orders to the lady on what to do to their victim.
The Nigerian Compass on Saturday, further learnt that the rampaging ladies planned to take the business woman away but for her resistance. The boot of their Camry was thrown open, while the woman in the car ordered the ladies to drag the woman and throw her into the boot.
Independent checks at the Lion Building policecommand however showed that the matter has been reported there even as our correspondent on Friday traced the battered business woman to the General Hospital, who was receiving treatment.
Though she was initially reluctant to speak with The Nigerian Compass on Saturday, whenshe opened up, she said she was standing outside her resident, talking to a tenant, when the six ladies, unknown to her, accompanied, by Mrs Batola arrived the place and began to beat her up.
She however insisted that she does not know the reason why the ladies beat the hell out of her, insisting that she was not close to the wife of the House of Representatives member."Though Alhaja Batola owns a shop on the same Bamgbose Street, we are not really close. Though I do greet her," said the victim.
The woman whose body was full of scares from the beating put the cost of her medical treatment as well as some of jewelries she waswearing when she was attacked at N600,000, and confirmed that but for the residents, who mobilised and confronted the ladies, she couldhave been kidnapped.
Inquiries at the Lion Building police station, in Lagos Island revealed to our correspondent that the case have been filed. The woman was asked to get a police report on the incident, a police source disclosed.
Attempts made to see Alhaja Owolabi Batola for her comment on the incident proved abortive as her shop located on the same Bamgbose Street was not opened yesterday.

Politics / 1,497 Illegal Routes Into Nigeria- Interio Minister by EzeJustme(m): 6:12am On May 24, 2013
There are no fewer than 1,497 illegal routes that lead into Nigeria. The startling disclosure was made earlier today by Nigeria’s Interior Minister, Abba Moro.
Mr. Moro spoke in Abuja while briefing the National Working Committee (NWC) of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) at the party's national headquarters.

In order to curb the security crisis associated with porous borders, the minister said Nigeria needed more than $244 million. The fund would go into installation of electronic surveillance round the nation's borders.

The minister added that the crisis of insecurity in the country was being compounded by the operation of 30 illegal guard companies in the country. He announced that only the operator ofone of them had been arrested.

Mr.Moro also revealed that some scam artists “opened a website in the name of the ministry which they have been using to dupe unsuspecting members of the public.
” He added: “One of them even used my name to open such [a] website, but we have been able to arrest himsomewhere in Asokoro, Abuja, whenI asked one of his would-be victims to play along with him.”

The minister underscored the fact that Nigeria’s vast borders were porous, making it possible for the 1,497 illegal routes to exist.

"We are making efforts to procure appropriate modern technology to be installed along our borders and we are collaborating the USAt and a private Chinese company on this

"With the assistance of the US State Department, we realised that some components of the offer we got from the private firm was contained in what the State Department would be offering us.

"When we have done this, the temptation of illegal entry into Nigeria will be reduced"
Politics / GEJ Condems The Killing Of British Soldier by EzeJustme(m): 5:49am On May 24, 2013
President Goodluck Jonathan has expressed shock at the terrorist attack and killing of a British soldier, Drummer Lee Rigby of the 2nd Battalion the Royal Regiment of Fusiliers in the Woolwich area of London, United Kingdom; and strongly condemns this unfortunate incident.
He conveys his sincere condolences tothe British Prime Minister David Cameron and the British people over this senseless and barbaric act, and shares their grief at this moment.
President Jonathan notes that a terrorist attack anywhere is an attackon the way of life of all free nations and must be collectively condemned by all persons irrespective of race, ethnicity or religion.
It is in this spirit that the Nigerian government is partnering with the British Government, as well as all other stakeholder sovereigns to stand up to and fight terrorism and extremism in whatever guise or pretense it chooses to present itself.
President Jonathan recognizes that each environment presents its own unique challenges and peculiarities and actions taken by affected nationsmay differ, yet the resolve to confront and defeat this threat should never be in doubt.
President Jonathan says Nigerians arecollectively resolute about the need to protect the freedoms that define our existence and inter-relationships at home and overseas. Our recent past tells us that when we pull together, this common enemy and threat will eventually be defeated.

Politics / I Will Like To Have Boko Haram As Friend-; GEJ by EzeJustme(m): 2:26am On May 23, 2013
President Goodluck Jonathan has said he will “appreciate to have Boko Haram as my good friends.”
President Jonathan said this on Tuesday, when he delivered his address at the foundation-laying ceremony of Para-military Villages Housing Scheme Development project at Kyami District, along Airport Road, Abuja.
The president’s statement elicitedhysterical laughter from the audience on the occasion, as it exudes the confidence of someone winning the war against the sect.
He particularly commended the Minister of Interior, Comrade AbbaMoro, for the initiative, saying thehousing scheme would further provide a secure environment for the para-military personnel and their families.
“When you talk of para-military services, some people don’t even know that is the constituency I belong. I started work with government after my school certificate as a Preventive Officer with the then Department of Custom and Exercise. They were called Custom police then. That is where I started my career. So I’m one of them.”
Jonathan added, “that is why I’m quite pleased to participate in today’s event of foundation laying ceremony of the paramilitary village housing scheme being undertaken jointly by the Ministry of Interior and Byuan Resources Ltd.”
While also commending Comrade Moro for taking steps to actualise the first phase of the project, Jonathan said the initiative was a direct furtherance of the Federal Government’s determination to maximise the potential of the public private partnership in improving the well-being of Nigerians and addressing major national challenges.
He noted that shelter was recognised globally as one of the primary needs of every human being, adding that the provision of quality, accessible and affordable housing “is a core priority of this administration.”
Jonathan said both the national and urban housing policies were specifically developed and implemented to accomplish this important objective.
He stressed that his administration had identified clearly that the private sector remained key to the success of the development agenda of the administration and would encourage partnership with private investors.
President Jonathan also disclosed on the occasion the determination of the Federal Government to recapitalise the Federal Mortgage Bank of Nigeria (FMBN) and strengthen the Federal Ministry of Lands and Urban Development, Federal Housing Authority and all other institutions of the government in the building sector.
He added that considering the centrality of their roles towards actualisation of the overall objectives of the government, “these institutions will sustain with greater vigour the implementation of existing policies on housing and urban renewal.”
He said the Federal Government was more determined to bridge the existing gap between the housing needs and the availability.
According to him, “there is no doubt that on completion, this project will boost the morale, productivity, security and welfare of the beneficiaries.”
Minister of Interior, Comrade Moro, in his remark, disclosed thatMessrs Byuan Resources Ltd had already acquired parcels of land in24 state capitals of the federation, including FCT, for the execution ofthe housing project.
