Now, which is harder... I'd say Web Programming, as you really are in control of what you're doing, meaning you have to be really skilled in the art.

Most profitable, this will depend on how you see it. If saving time equals profitability for you, then do WordPress, but if complexity of projects define profitability, then web programming.

And yes, your desktop computer will do just good, but with time, you'd understand what you need based on your choices.

Find courses online. Coursera, Edx, even YouTube..... Just pick one that works for you.

If you're still schooling, it means you got time on hands. Now it's still left to you, cos it boils down to profitability. If you do one, it doesn't stop you from doing the other. So you can start with WordPress so you grasp what whole idea of user interface, then delve into proper backend development once you feel you can.
