Abeg if you have difficulties with understanding simple English language, appeal to us humbly and we may contribute cash towards remedial classes for you. Dolt!

I see you are one of those who have nothing better to do than trolling and flaming on forums. I can bet my salary (as meager as it may be) that you do not have a paying job, hence you spend all day in cybercafes cadging browsing tickets so you could do what you know best: trolling and flaming. If I had the time I could have expounded more on your kind, but unlike your kind I got a job and I cannot afford to waste one more second on a troll today. Anyway, happy trolling. wink

Well it won't make much sense porting the BBM service to IOS because in a couple of weeks, IOS5 will be out and it will be sporting Apple's proprietary IM service iMessenger which will be compatible on all I devices and the Mac OS. As for the Blackberry playbook having an android player which enables it run android apps, this was just a way to save face on the part of RIM. Not many developers where actually willing to create apps running on QNX which was Primary OS on which the Playbook was built upon. The only thing really saving the BBM service is that it is still being used by large number of enterprises. No Youth or Teen in the Western world wants a BB! shocked

Tell them here bro,  some folks in Naija, especially girls (blonds?) are seen sporting TWO blackberry devices!!! I never cease to laugh,

It isn't possible to port BBM to android, not without's RIM's blessing.

I wonder where some folks get their info and post it on here. Do they get this from correct sources or just thoughts in their heads? Blackberry, faced with near eclipse by iphone and android ARE contemplating porting BBM to ios and android. Only snag seems how they are going to assign pins to these device for compatibility on BBM. As a step forward for Blackberry, they have ported the Dalvik Virtual Machine (the android os container) to Blackberry OS; meaning newer Blackberry devices like the Playbook could run android apps. Granted that android is open source, this could not have happened without Google's blessing and something in return from Blackberry. Which makes the porting of BBM a question of when rather than if.

That will restructure the Motorola on the world of mobile marketing and operation. I am thinking the Operating System might likely be changed to Android.

It is a bold step for Google.

Most, if not all, Motorola phones are now running Android. Besides they were the company to really bring Android to the forefront with their range of Droid phones. It makes the mobile world exciting now. Google excels at most things they put their mind and cash to. I predict Motorola rising to the top of the chain again. Sorry for ipuke (phone?).
Technology Market / Re: Pre-order Tevci Droidpad by ezeuba(m): 7:14am On May 31, 2011
It would help to disseminate more info about these products not just "coming soon", like specs, features, etc. Those are the selling points. I wonder why some people still think we would jump at the mere mention of android tablets in Nigeria; most of us are already using them here and now. It's just that if I see a good alternative to the expensive ones bought off ebay I would surely recommend them. So please, specs, features, pricing and availability.

Health / Re: Alcohol Addiction by ezeuba(m): 11:30am On May 14, 2011
I used to drink. Any kind of alcoholic drink, but my preference was the black thing in a bottle. Sometimes after drinking I would be ashamed to go home drunk and I would sleep in a hotel, sometimes alone, sometimes not. Some years back I got ill and after about two clinics and several wrong diagnoses it was finally pinned down to hepatitis. I was hospitalised for about a month, then went home and recuperated indoors for another month. While in the hospital I reflected on my condition and did some calculations; a bottle of beer costs less than =N=200 back then, plus some sticks of cigarettes at about =N=10 each. All these have put me in a condition which was costing me about =N=4,000 daily for treatment. One night in my hospital room, I called GOD to a meeting. I begged HIM to come to my rescue and not let the illness kill me. I pledged that night to abstain from alcohol and smoke, but that HE should give me the strength to overcome. From that night till today I have never had the urge for alcohol or smoke and I live a better life now. My occasional illness these days does not go beyond what some analgesic can take care of. I have never bought another hospital card for myself since that day I made that promise to GOD in September 2006.

The bottom line here is that ALL alcoholics can be withdrawn from alcohol, only if they make a conscious effort on their own part and determine not to go back. I hang out with alcohol drinking friends, smokers even, but have never had the urge to drink. I only take malt drinks or bottled water and they respect my wish to do so. Although they taunted me initially but when they saw I was not budging the respect started coming. I have a friend who I wish would read this discussion. He knows about my victory over alcohol, but he still wallows in the stuff. To the extent that his salary does not last more than three days in his hands, that is after paying off debts at numerous drinking joints. He even once sold my household effects I left in his care when I was transferred to another city, to pay off his drinking debts. Instead of getting angry with him I sympathise with him. I wish he could read this now.
Programming / Re: Please Read by ezeuba(m): 11:19pm On May 08, 2011
I am no guru in any language, but I do know some php which comes in handy for me with my web design jobs. Sometimes I get into a snag and I go to forums and ask questions, I also post some of my code, with some editing anyway but basically outlining the issues I'm having with the code. Most times I get responses which are basically edited versions of the code I sent in, with highlights of the problem areas. Sometimes I get responses which just explain where and where I need to do some work on the code and why. Sometimes I have to re-edit the edited code again to suit my purposes, sometimes too I end up re-editing the code based on the hints given in the responses I get. Quite a few times as well, I've had to nearly bite myself for not seeing the obvious mistakes in my code after I get some hints. What this means to me on the whole is that any which way you get help with programming, one cardinal thing is to read the help code and study it to see where you went wrong and what you got wrong. That way you can churn out better code next time.
Cheers.

Until when Nigerians discard this culture of free booze, there will always be local mugus to be scammed. There is no way under heaven you can make free calls to any network, without any catch to it. Even staff lines of these networks ONLY CALL OTHER STAFF LINES FREE, never other numbers on the same network. I work with Visafone and I can only call other staff for free. Other Visafone lines and other networks I call with my monthly free credit sent to my official line every month. Let's be wise and not just jump when we hear FREE.

Good to hear you didn't brick your phone, it would have been a real disaster. embarassed. I would really like to know how you got your Incredible to work on Visaphone cos i have a CDMA/GSM Phone on my hands and would like to get the CDMA hooked up to a network. Any Pointers for me?
I used to be able to configure CDMA phones to Visafone network, but for some reason the company decided to stop accepting phones from other networks to be configure to Visafone; I guess maybe because of the SIM/RUIM registration thingy. However, I was able to get mine done because I work there and the guys at the NOC just did it for me once they saw it was a staff line. Anyway, you can try Multilinks if they can configure the phone to their network. If that works you can rest assured you will soon be on Visafone network, because Visafone has acquired Multilinks.
Cheers.

Phones / Re: Stark Benefits Of The Htc Droid Incredible Android Phone by ezeuba(m): 8:40pm On May 06, 2011
@tex this smacks heavily of either ignorance of mobile communication networks or you are somehow biased against CDMA networks, "touting a Verizon CDMA phone that most likely won't work in GSM dominated Nigeria". First, a CDMA phone WILL NEVER work on a GSM network, not "most likely". Furthermore, Visafone (a CDMA network here in Nigeria, in case you didn't know) has a subscriber base of more than 1 million, actually 5million subs and just below Etisalat in subs base. I would sure like to see those 5 million Visafone subs receiving individual slaps from the last poster, not counting the 2.5 million shared between Starcomms and Multilinks. My CDMA Droid Inc beats anything you tout as a phone.
Phones / Re: Stark Benefits Of The Htc Droid Incredible Android Phone by ezeuba(m): 8:29pm On May 06, 2011
Do I also get a slap for using the Droid Inc here in Nigeria? I didn't know CDMA networks are only good now for getting unsolicited slaps,
Phones / Re: Android, Anyone? by ezeuba(m): 7:30pm On May 06, 2011
I am a one of a kind android phone user, I use the Droid Incredible (CDMA, on Visafone precisely), and believe me guys this phone is really incredible. Since I got this phone in January my laptop has been green with envy; I hardly use it now except for movies. I nearly fell for the Droid Eris, another CDMA android but somehow I just tightened my lips and went for the Incredible. It's Android 2.2, but I've been experimenting with some Gingerbread ROMs lately and it is simply awesome. This is the first time I've seen a phone as responsive as this, and the phone still fully under my control. The only thing is the battery life, but somehow I got around to managing the situation well now and the battery rarely dies on me, I have a car charger, and I always carry my usb charging unit with me. Each time I wonder what people see in Iphone and maybe its because android is for geeks, sometimes its not for the faint-hearted. Like rooting with unrEVOked, upgrading clockworkmod, backing up ROMs and installing new ROMs. But its quite straightforward once you get the hang of it. I've only experienced one heart-stopping moment with my Droid Incredible. I once tried to unroot and I used a 2.1 RUU file and got stuck with a blank screen. Reason was that my Droid Inc is 2.2 and it does not have screen drivers for 2.1, but after some research online I got the 2.2 Stock RUU and got my Droid Inc working again. For some moments on that day I thought I was looking at a $400 brick.

I have so many ROMs and quite a bit of knowledge about android phones now. If anyone is in need I am here to help.
Cheers,

Phones / Re: Android, Anyone? by ezeuba(m): 8:56pm On Jan 29, 2011
I bought it off ebay. It depends actually. In my case, I needed a CDMA phone so I went searching for new one with BAD ESN. These are programmable CDMA phones (no sim), but have problems with their ESN electronic serial number) such that they cannot be activated on the original network they were meant for. Hence, if you know about phone programming you can buy such phones and program them for another CDMA network. These bad esn phones come a bit cheaper, and they are in most cases new. I got mine for $275 (but I had to pay someone who got it for me with his paypal account at the rate of =N=171 to $1, when the market rate was =N=157 to $1, this is because ebay primarily prefers paypal) Then I had to pay for shipping from the USA because most ebay sellers will never ship to Nigeria. Altogether it cost me a pretty penny but I am not regretting it at all. The phone's performance more than compensates for the trouble I went through to get it here.

Search through ebay, but know the kind of Droid you want; there are GSM as well as CDMA Droids. Mine is CDMA because I work for a CDMA network and my data plan suits the phone well, 5GB per month @ =N=4,000 only.

Let me know if you want more info. And did I tell you, Droids on Froyo play flash media too. Now let's hear that from Iphone fanboys, grin
Phones / Re: Android, Anyone? by ezeuba(m): 7:39pm On Jan 29, 2011
Glad to have stumbled upon this thread. I've used plenty of smart phones, from Motorola Q to some Nokia models. I just got into Android recently; bought a Droid Incredible (CDMA) on ebay, and this beats everything I've used before now. Sometimes I have to remind myself "it's still a phone". Every fantasy I've been having about smartphones is now reality. This phone is really INCREDIBLE (pardon the emphasis). Now I'm having a kind of addiction to Android phones; I just put up my BB Storm 2 for sale here on nairaland. I'm buying another HTC Android phone for my GSM line. Where will I start? Anyway, once you root your phone, it truly becomes yours; you can do anything you want on it. I took mine for a spin the first week. I installed and tried out practically every ROM out there (even tried Cyanogenmod 7 Nightlies - Gingerbread 2.3 via ROM Manager Premium) before finally settling with the Original HTC Sense ROM (Froyo) that came with the phone; I just removed the network related bloatware (the phone was on Verizon, brand new but had bad ESN, so I reprogrammed for the CDMA network where I work). Since then it has been bliss. I even sleep with the phone tight on my chest every night. It's just a pity phone dealers in Nigeria do not really follow trends, else they would have been stocking up on Android phones and eased off on the Nokias and other dying models. I don't think there is one HTC dealer in Nigeria; I stand to be corrected please. Let me know about how much you love your 'Droids. A snapshot of the phone is attached. pardon thegrainy pic, that was my BB Storm 2's camera.
Cheers,

I have a fairly used, but well cared for, Blackberry Storm 2 9550, touch screen, dual mode (cdma and gsm, it goes with gsm if you insert a SIM card, but can also be programmed for cdma without a SIM card). Just bought it in October 2010. Reason for selling is that I got an android phone and I cannot be carrying around three smart phones (already have another android phone on cdma network). Asking price is =N=45,000, but will consider good offers. Comes with only the charger and already has a screen protector. I can arrange pickup in Ikeja GRA area for successful buyer. Email me: ezeuba1@yahoo.com or call 08034680094.
