Politics › Re: Obasanjo (Nigeria) Vs Jacob Zuma (South Africa) by EzeUche(m): 1:51am On Jul 20, 2010
We can go back and forth on this issue. Let us agree to disagree. I see nothing wrong with my comment. I said I am a fan of Jacob Zuma, the man, then I said that I admire the Zulus since I remembered that he was a Zulu, and finally I said South Africa as a whole knows what they are doing. It doesn't matter if the person is Zulu, Xhosa, Swazi, Bushmen, Boer or any other group that resides in South Africa. These people are doing Africa proud, especially after seeing that the World Cup was held in South Africa.

Well he may have a point though. Some groups like to vote for their own even though they may be the best.

But, the Fulani would still get votes from the Hausa populace if they run.

Even in this innocuous matter the first thought that came to your head is you are a "big fan of the zulus"huh Don't you see how infected you are with tribalism?

South Africa is like Japan and Nigeria is like China - what does that even mean, man? Why can't South Africa be like South Africa and Nigeria like Nigeria? If you must compare please use clear metrics e.g. GDP, population, etc. Otherwise, the merits of your comparison remains only in your mind.

By the way, the OP's arithmetic is based on conjecture - not real at all. I am more amazed by the angle from which you jumped on the train!
So me saying that I am a big fan of the Zulus make ma tribalist? Me giving praise to another tribe makes me a tribalist? ha ha ha Stop using a word so loosely. I respect the Fulani, I respect the Zulu, I respect the Asante, I respect the Mandinka, I even respect Yoruba history so shut up with your nonsense. I am biased to African warrior tribes though. If I am a tribalist in that sense, then you are right. But me giving praise to other groups that are not my own does not make me a tribalist. Jacob Zuma is a proud Zulu and a proud South African. Can't people respect that a person's ethnicity means a lot to people.

Daaammmn Nigerians use tribalism just as much as whites now use reverse racism in America. Too loosely.

And what is wrong with making a comparison of two nations with nations on another continent. It is call comparative politics which is actually taught in schools. South Africa can be likened to Japan with its advance technology on the continent just like Japan is advanced in Asia, while Nigeria can be likened to India or China due to our population, but our governance is questionable.

Jacob Zuma is the man! I am big fan of the zulus. Those South Africans no how to get work done.

South Africa is like Japan and Nigeria is like China.

Ezeuche

You don't even know what you are saying, where is the logic in asking a country to support a war on religious grounds, when the country is a secular state. The logic in the statement is flawed ( I am not saying Britain should have intervened or otherwise), but please if you want to give a reason for a country to take sides in a war or not give good reasons. We need good premises before drawing conclusions.  Obviously Dr. Ibianu has a jaundiced view of the world, where he divides it into xtian and Muslim states, please let's be factual this guy doesn't know what he is saying.

On a side note, please Britain did not colonize Israel, Palestine, Iraq, and  Afghanistan. Don't blame Britain for trouble spots in the world (at least furnish us with facts before screaming).
Are you saying that British colonialism did not impact Israel, Palestine, Iraq and Afghanistan? lol You must be kidding. Have you heard of the Palestine Mandate and the Balfour Declaration. After the fall of the Ottoman Empire when World War 1 ended, the British took control of many Ottoman provinces. Just watch Lawrence of Arabia and you will understand. The British interfered in the Palestine Mandate in which after World War II and the remaining Jews had were coming out of hiding since Nazi Germany was defeated, the British felt sorry for the Jews and gave them land in Palestine which would now become known as Israel. The Jewish settlers arrived in Israel under the auspices of the British and kicked the Palestinians out of their land and this is where you got the friction. Iraq and Afghanistan was also under the control of the British. Please know you history before you talk about things you do not understand.

Wherever the British were, they impacted the people in many profound ways. There is no reason why there should be an India and a Pakistan since Pakistan was once a part of India, until the British made the Muslims in India mad at the Hindus which forced them to create their own country. And do not get me started on British colonialism in Africa which created states that have no business being together. Who would have thought of putting the Igbo together with the Hausa who have more in common with Niger than the rest of Nigeria or the Yoruba who have more in common with Benin than the rest of Nigeria.

Who carries that amount of money on them? That is not smart nor safe. You are just asking from trouble, and that doesn't matter where you are in the world. You could be in New York and still get robbed if people found out you have that much money on you

Stick up kids as they call robbers in the states are everywhere so only a fool carries that amount of money on them.

Can u guys just listen 2 yrsefhuh What this guy (Dr Ibiam) is spewing makes no sense, so because Britain a secular country didn't support what would have been mass fratricide, he takes umbrage. He can go to hell, no one is losing sleep over him (The Queen is unaware that someone has stripped himself of his awards). Good riddance.
Great Britain is responsible for most of the problems in the world with their colonial practices. Let us go through the list

Israel-Palestine
Iraq
Afghanistan
Pakistan-India
Nigeria

Dr. Ibiam was right. Great Britain should have stayed out of the conflict. Thousands of Christian Igbos were being slaughtered and the British were helping these people kill us. Of course Dr. Biam had every right to do this. Would you support a nation that is helping to slaughter your people?

So shut the helll up!

I just love this man!

This wise philosopher king. People like him should be our leaders and given praise, not these thieving politicians who only know how to loot.

Great Chinua Achebe, lead your people to the promise land! cheesy

Thank you for accepting my apology. I really appreciate it.

You will get an apology and that is it my dear. Don't kick a man while he is down. It is not right.

Ok I am forgiven. And against my Igbo customs to "dobale" prostrate. Since every Igbo man and woman is a king and queen in their own right.
