The way I have come to see this is like Jews for instance.

Isreal was one tribe made up of many clans within it. Even the bible account show that Israel assimilated a lot of the groups they met in the promised land, meaning that they are NOT biologically all children of Jacob.

But guess what, the most influential TILL DATE of the Israeli group is the clan of JUDA.
Hence even some countries refer to Israelites are JUDEN or JUDE.

Like I said before, folks can believe whatever they like, but please remember that when tomorrow you start fighting Yorubas and other groups on this forum.

I blame Europeans for this nonsense we're experiencing. They came to Igbo area through Niger, landed by Onitsha, and saw that the word "Igbo" was so generously used by the Northern/Western Igbo cultural areas. They then witnessed Nri's influence and authority in the area, and so naturally, they equated Nri hegemony with "Igbo"-land. Now these northerners can't get enough of this erroneous perpetuation of Nri hegemony in areas where Nri had no authority. [/b]They think that because certain groups are now "Igbo", that Nri hegemony also incorporated them, when in fact the groups/communities developed [b]separately from Nri hegemony.

Eze Nri is the head of Igbo religion and culture on earth, anything else including politics is irrelevant.

More like Northern Igbo Overstatement of Hegemony. Western Igbo (Onicha, Anioma) don't concern themselves with the south and east like that.

Well, I know nothing of Nri/Eri mythology, and I can't say that I am versed in Arochukwu history, but one thing I do know is that there was no "Chukwu" in Ngwa until Aro showed up. The Ngwa credit Arochukwu people with the introduction of the name "Chukwu" in ala Ngwa, in reference to their god at Ibini Ukpabi. Whether Ibini Ukpabi is the deity or just the 'oracle', I don't know and I'm really not all that concerned about.

Now, all these people talking about Nri and all Igbo just need to stop. Nri has no business in the south. In Ngwa, the closest we got to Nri were some Oka traders who had made their way to Ngwa around the 19th century. There are no traditions in Ngwa regarding Nri or any which recognize an Nri hegemony.

All the roads leading to Ekiti State are not good enough and the state government cannot afford to embark on dualisation of any of them now.
