Imo to tackle infrastructural decay in schools

THE Deputy Governor of Imo State, Chief Jude Agbaso has assured the determination of the present administration to tackle all infrastructural decay in both primary and secondary schools.

Agbaso gave the assurance yesterday when he paid visit to Emekuku High School in Owerri North local government area of the state.

He regretted that educational infrastructures in the schools in the state have gone bad; adding that noting has being done in the time past to remedy the situation.

He stated that Emekuku High School is so dilapidated to the extent that one cannot recognize the school again that used to have conducive facilities for effective teaching and learning in the past.

Meanwhile, in its quest to rescue the health sector and save the lives of citizens, the Imo State government yesterday concluded the training of doctors, paramedics and security personnel in emergency response mechanism towards accidents and other disasters.

No fever than 1,000 participants drawn from the public and private sectors benefited from the exercise which saw about 15 specialists delivering incisive lectures on how to save lives during health emergencies.

Special Adviser to the Governor on Health, Dr Sylvanus Amaechi whose office coordinated the two day seminar along with INFAX Nigeria Ltd, described the exercise as “a huge scientific and academic programme geared towards taking health care to the door steps of Imo citizens.

Who is "you guys?" Your Bini people's influence did not reach the Aro Confederacy.

Stop making generalizations and say it is "SOME" Igbos. Mostly from the Northern/Western Igbo clans who think being associated with the Benin Empire means that they are important.

Not all Igbo clans such as my own felt the Benin Empire's influence.

exotik I feel the Bini live in past glory. Their history was truly great, but now they are easily forgotten in this polity.

Many Bini still enjoy living in this past glory, but it is time they move on, because the Yoruba and Igbo have already surpassed them in all aspects.

It is similar to the Greeks and now Western Europeans who the Greeks once considered barbarians, but now their descendants need them to bail them out.

That is YOUR history. It is not the history of the Aro people and those who made up the confederacy.

It is interesting that the Northern Igbo clans are using the Eze Nri to claim cultural hegemony over the other groups. You cannot use your military history, because only the Southern and Eastern Igbo clans have a proud history of military domination.

I only understand that there are elements amongst our Northern Igbo brethren who wish to have cultural hegemony over all Igbos.

Let us not forget that many of these Northern Igbo clans do not consider other Igbo clans as true "Igbos." It angers me that they are trying to force the Eze Nri on us.

I never heard of Nri until some Igbos on NL started to speak about the "greatness" of Nri.

I knew these Northern Igbo clans were trying to have cultural hegemony over the other Igbo clans.

This thread continues to make me angry. I will only recognize the Eze Aro. Not some eze whose authority is only found amongst the Northern Igbo clans.
