BY Dayo Johnson
Akure—AN Assistant Superintendent of Police, ASP, Amisu Arogunrerin was yesterday shot dead when a gang of armed robbers ambushed a police patrol team along Ekoro Road at Emure-Ile junction in the Owo local government area of Ondo state.

The deceased and others in the patrol vehicle were moving towrads a scene of robbery incident following a distress call by members of the public in Owo town.

But volleys of bullets were rained on them by the robbers who were infuriated that they were “disturbed from carrying out their mission in the area”

It was gathered that the gangsters sensing that information had reached the police thereafter laid ambush for the team of policemen from the ‘B’ division of the Nigeria Police force in Owo Area Command.

The deceased who was the leader of the police team allegedly ran into the hoodlums who opened fire on them at a close range.

Arogunrerin was said to have been shot on his neck and reportedly died on the spot before help could come.

Others were said to have sustained injures and are on admission at an undisclosed hospital in Akure, the state capital.

It was gathered that the deceased who until his untimely death was attached to the Emure Ile police station was popularly called ‘Abioye e’.

When contacted, the Image Maker of the state Police Command, Adeniran Aremu confirmed the incident which he described as sad.

Aremu told Vanguard that investigation has commenced on the matter.

It was gathered from the deceased family that Arogunrerin has been buried in his home town, Auga Akoko.

These people are still going on with their fictitious 'big brother' nonsense. There has never been any such thing as 'big brother' in the east. EVERYONE should knows that.

You are already ruling him in his land because your people own huge quantities of oilfields in his land. Even the oil companies are controlled by your people and their headquarters are in Lagos, not Abonema.

The louder they shout, the more you smile to the bank.

Gotta join you though.
Why didn't we do this? Is it because we were playing big brother?

Why do Yorubas think they built Lagos, abeg in what way? Before fashola, has there been any developmental effort on any scale embarked upon by anybody ?
yet Lagos did boom. thousand were trooping in.

Fashola is successful not becos he has the best brains but becos the trader opened up their wallets to pay taxes (they never did before now)(the corporations has always paid taxes), And hello, most of the trader taxed are Igbos. the yoruba markets in ketu  and mushin are not subjected to the same tax alaba and tradfair pays.

Now, lagos revenue has jumped from a miserable 4 bn to 26.8 billion every damn month.  that is like 7 times their previous revenue.

Ask ursef, why do people, esp easterner troop to Lagos,

- becos yorubas has made the place an eldorado?
-becos yorubas has made the place  secured ?
- becos yorubas have a lot of spending power ?
- becos yoruba . .  .

For christ sake, the number one thing that brings people to lagos is the seaport !
the seaport accounts for over 70% of non-corporate business activities in that lagos. And, hello , it was built by the Federal Government!

There is a seaport in portharcourt , calabar, and warri

The federal govt strictly designated the portharcourt seaport as an oil export terminal.

Calabar seaport is merely 30 feet of which has clogged up with sand, hence needs dredging - donald duke begged the OBJ govt fervently to dredge it all to no heed.
the cost of dredging it came up to be 34 billion.
the states annual budget before their only oil wells were ceded to Akwa Ibom were a meagre  36billion naira. so its clear. without the federal help, the state can not dredge the calabar seaport.

Tinapa is lying in a state all becos the seaport is comatose - not yet dredged.

WARRI seaport, the federal government also did designate the warri port for the Nigerian Navy.

do u get the picture ?
This post deserves a thread of its own.

Yorubas act like they won the Biafran war. You all were not eve represented in the military, which was dominated by Northerners and Igbos. Even when Biafra invaded, you all did not fight us, it was the Northern military that resided in your land. undecided

I think the Igbos are unto something here! Brilliant!! Head or tail, they'll win this one.  cheesy

An Igbo controlled enclave within Yoruba region is not going to materialise. However, the following scenarios are possible:

1. Igbos shout loud enough for the Festac state and provoke an attack from their Yoruba hosts. Lagos gets burned by ensuing violence and Igbo gets one of their desired outcome of seeing Lagos (competitor) destroyed. Igbo wins.  grin

2. Other Nigerian ethnic groups gets cut up in the ensuing conflagration and this result in wider Nigerian conflict and disintegration. Igbo wins.   grin

Ife-Modakeke war (between two Yoruba groups) started in a similar fashion. From the ensuing violence and friends, inlaws, neigbours killing each other, Ife has never been the same again since that war. I wonder how this agitation for for Festac state by Igbos based on assumed ethnic advantages will pan out. I'll watch this space.
Hush now! grin angry grin
