Sambo urged to shelve visit to Ekiti

EKITI State Action Congress of Nigeria (AC N) has asked Vice-President Namadi Sambo to shelve his proposed visit to Moba Local Government Area in preparations for the House of Assembly bye-elections.

Its Chairman, Chief Jide Awe, described the proposed visit as a strange venture that must be viewed with suspicion and reservation.

He said in a statement that, though the Vice-President could visit any part of the country, "this is not an auspicious time for such a visit".

Awe frowned on Sambo’s decision to visit the state on campaign when there is no evidence that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Federal Government has inaugurated any project there in the last 11 years.

The party leader said the Vice President’s maiden visit to the state should be beneficial and purposeful, adding: "It should engender development and good tidings to the people who are just recovering from the pangs of previous maladministration of PDP in Ekiti State".

"Part of the statement reads: "We wish to remind Mr. Vice-President that Ekiti State under the administration of his party was a laughing stock in the comity of decent men and women as the state writhed in political pains and socio-economic trauma.

"Vice President Namadi Sambo needs to be reminded that his PDP Federal Government has never commissioned any project in Ekiti since its creation.
