enyojo:Why wouldn't anyone not like this woman? She could be Nigeria's Iron Lady. And she is not afraid of anyone. Aunty Ngozi is our Ellen Johnson Sirleaf! |
Eziachi:I disagree with you Elder Eziachi. Ufomba did not win Abia. The only reason why Orji won Abia state, because he was able to get his kinsmen to vote for him in Umuahia. Aba was in disarray, because the ENTIRE Ngwa vote was divided. A divided Ngwa vote allows PDP to win time and time again. It is an age old problem for the Ngwa. They cannot speak with one voice even though they are the largest clan in Abia. How can someone from Umuahia defeat the entire Ngwa vote? |
ezeagu:Most Scots cannot even speak their Gaelic language. The same goes for the Welsh. Even the Northern Irish cannot speak Irish. All speak English. The comments are funny though. Someone mentioned that they should rebuild Hadrian's Wall. ![]() |
Wrong section. Should be moved to the Culture section. |
God bless this woman. This is the only good news I have heard from Jonathan in a while. This woman should be Nigeria's president! |
Okonjo-Iweala set to be named as economic czar By Terfa Tilley-Gyado June 24, 2011 06:34AM As the president puts finishing touches to his list of cabinet nominees Thursday evening, close aides say the president has decided to name Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala as finance minister and economic czar. In the position, not unlike the role she played as finance minister and chairman of the presidential economic team under Olusegun 0basanjo, Mrs Okonjo-Iweala is expected to be a kind of super-minister with wide swathes over the economy. Talks had recently stalled after Mrs Okonjo-Iweala, currently a managing director at World Bank, demanded greater executive powers and responsibility in the new administration. In an effort to secure her services, President Jonathan has designed a new State House organogram which fulfils her requirements. Her proposed designation satisfies one of the key conditions for the World Bank managing director, who is now poised to return to her old stomping grounds in Abuja. Mrs Okonjo-Iweala brings star power to President Jonathan’s cabinet, about the only real dramatic senior appointment he has so far proposed. But her anticipated role is believed to be causing anxiety in circles around Mr Jonathan, a larger than life outsider who is almost certain to overwhelm many of the lesser known aides around the president. “Many of the president’s close aides and some politicians are certainly quite worried about her,” said one source close to the president. However, President Jonathan has ignored the last minute opposition and, barring any last minute wrangles, he is expected to submit his list of cabinet nominees to the senate this afternoon, almost four weeks after his inauguration. Although the official list has not yet been released, several individuals, including a substantial chunk of former ministers, have undergone security screening in the past few weeks ahead of potential nomination. Old faces Mrs Okonjo-Iweala is one of many old faces returning to the new executive lineup. Bello Haliru Mohammed, the acting chairman of the PDP, is also in line for a role in Mr Jonathan’s cabinet. Mr Mohammed was so assured of his nomination that he prepared his exit notes yesterday for handover. His replacement as PDP chair is expected to be Bamanga Tukur and an announcement could be made as early as next week. Mr Mohammed, a former communications minister under Mr Obasanjo, was one of several high profile Nigerians that were implicated by a German court in the Siemens scandal in 2007. The court accused Mr Mohammed of accepting two instalments of €70,000 in bribes, a charge that he later denied. Mrs Okonjo-Iweala is set to be joined by other returning ministers like: Diezani Alison-Madueke, Godsday Orubebe, Odein Ajumogobia, Bala Mohammed, Chukwemeka Wogu, Labaran Maku, Ruqqayatu Rufai and Caleb Olubolade. Yusuf Suleiman, former transport minister, is also in contention for a ministerial return. After the president writes the Senate, it is expected that ministerial screening will move to the top of the agenda when the upper chamber resumes next week Tuesday. http://234next.com/csp/cms/sites/Next/Home/5721053-146/story.csp |

Chukwudiebere Maduabum Got Drafted From The NBA Chukwudiebere Maduabum, better known as Chu Chu to the few people familiar with him before Adam Silver read his name on the ESPN broadcast of the 2011 NBA Draft, was selected by the Los Angeles Lakers with the 56th overall pick. Maduabum will be sent to the Denver Nuggets in a trade, which makes sense as general manager Masai Ujiri originally discovered him. Maduabum, a 6-foot-9 power forward out of Nigeria, was completely off the radar before being acquired by the Bakersfield Jam of the NBA Development League late in the season. He remained off the radar once joining the D-League, too, appearing in just three games for a total of 20 minutes after joining the team on March 19. Maduabum scored two points on four shot attempts and blocked three shots while in the D-League. In the two plays of his archived on Synergy, I can confirm that he has a jump hook that doesn't look terrible and finished on a nice pass with a lay-up while being fouled. That's it. That's all I know about him. That's all anybody knows about him aside from Brian Levy, Director of Player Personnel for the Jam. Levy, a great basketball mind, went to Twitter with his thoughts on Wednesday night after I mentioned his former player. If Biyombo is a poor man's Ibaka, is Chu a homeless man's Ibaka? This is what I think about at night. Chu is a great kid by the way. Hard worker. Thru Jam trainer Tim Difrancesco, discovered the weight room & protein. Gonna be a specimen A lot to be said about a kid who just now has facilities to workout and a steady diet. Plus he just turned 20 years old. I think @ScottSchroeder would define that as at least the potential for #ridiculousupside. Thanks for sparking these last 4-5 tweets. Maduabum is the third player drafted straight from the D-League, following in the footsteps of fellow second round picks Mike Taylor and Latavious Williams. Jamine Peterson was also eligible to be drafted this season, but he apparently impressed NBA general managers as much as he impressed your's truly. Tonight we're all Chu Chu! http://www.ridiculousupside.com/2011/6/24/2241064/chukwudiebere-maduabum-nba-draft-nuggets-lakers-scouting-report |
