Omo_Tier1:Was this all needed? These are simply Igbo STUDENTS who are not amused about the political sidelining of the Ndigbo by PDP. They are not beggars, they are not kidnappers, they are simply college educated Igbo youth. Maybe you are too stupidd to realize that. |
Could possibly be a PR stunt. Politics is a game of showmanship. |
Who wouldn't? ![]() The Cote D'ivoire polity is still very heated and can explode at any time. If people think the North/South dichotomy of Nigeria is bad, look no further to Cote D'ivoire. This is what happens when a powerful leader dies. Houphouët-Boigny really kept the nation one. |
This thread is crap. There is no One Nigeria. Now leave the Ndigbo out of this. ![]() |
We, the Igbo youth are not amused. ![]() |
Students demand reps speaker from S’East By Emmanuel Nzomiwu Correspondent, Enugu Confederation of Igbo Students (CIS) has demanded the position of Speaker of House of Representatives for South-East in the coming dispensation. While congratulating President Goodluck Jonathan on his resounding victory at the polls, the group stated that it would amount to injustice on his part and a case of continued Igbo marginalization on the part of ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), if the position of Speaker is not zoned to South-East. Igbo students in a statement signed by the National Coordinator, Mazi Chukwuemeka Eleweke, and National Secretary, Chukwudalu Anaekwe, warned that refusing to assent to South-East demand to produce the Speaker of House of Representatives in the forthcoming National Assembly, would not be the best way to reciprocate the overwhelming support given to him by Ndigbo against all odds. CIS recalled that Ndigbo lost over 120 lives and property worth billions of naira in the recent post-election violence in the Northern part of Nigeria, not minding the fact that the decision of Ohanaeze to support Jonathan almost tore Ndigbo apart if not for the political maturity of Igbo elite. The group stated: “The president’s lack of support for Ndigbo makes the loss more painful because the Igbo leaders who supported a Northern presidency in the just concluded 2011 presidential election, stated that the insecurity of Ndigbo in the aftermath of Jonathan’s possible victory as one of their reasons. “Also, it would be a setback to the renewed fraternity between Ndigbo and the minority in parts of Niger Delta. It was in the spirit of cementing the bonds of brotherhood between them and their Eastern minority brothers that Ndigbo opted to support President Goodluck Jonathan so massively,” CIS stated. It argued that it would amount to an aberration if the South-West, which voted massively for the Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) and which has only five PDP members in the incoming House of Representatives, is considered before the South-East where PDP won overwhelming majority in the House of Representatives. CIS therefore aligned totally with the House of Representatives that the South-East would accept nothing less than the Speakership of House of Representatives, adding that “as law abiding citizens of this country, we should avert this travesty of justice.” http://www.independentngonline.com/DailyIndependent/Article.aspx?id=33809 |
Igbo govs, political leaders meet Written by Jude Ossai, Enugu Monday, 16 May 2011 A one-day joint meeting of South-East governors and Igbo political leaders in the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) met in Enugu on Sunday with a view to charting a new course for Ndigbo in the next political dispensation. Although no communique was issued after the closed door meeting that was held at Lion Building,Government House, Enugu, a source revealed that the incessant bickerings and rancour especially among Igbo political elite, repositioning of Ndigbo to enable the people get a fair share of the national cake under President Goodluck Jonathan’s regime were among the issues that topped the agenda of the meeting. A former vice-president, Dr Alex Ekwueme and the zonal president of PDP, Olise Metu, were some of the prominent politicians who attended the meeting. The governors of Enugu, Anambra, Imo and Ebonyi state were also present while Governor Theodore Orji of Abia was conspicuously absent. Emerging from the meeting which lasted for about three hours, Governor Peter Obi of Anambra said they had no statement for the waiting newsmen and when asked about the position they had taken on the burning issue of allocation of top positions in the incoming Jonathan government, Obi parried the question. He said: “this is not strictly a South-East governors’ meeting because we have other statesmen like Alex Ekwueme in attendance. We deliberated on a number of issues but we don’t want to make comment on them. They are confidential. “We thank the people of South-East for their support for President Jonathan in the last elections and their support for other candidates.” It was further learnt that the leaders of the zone might have decided not to make public their position on the sharing of positions because the zone, allegedly, did not bargain with the president before the elections. “We are only interested in what will benefit the larger Igbo people for now,” a competent source informed the Nigerian Tribune. http://tribune.com.ng/index.php/news/21999-igbo-govs-political-leaders-meet |
Firmky's 1 and only post aimed directly at me. How do I know he is not a regular poster, who already has problems with me? We already know the disdain Abagworo has for me. ![]() He could possibly be him. |
Beaf:Remember the hand that helped you defy Ciroma. ![]() No Igbo = No support for Jonathan Tread carefully, because there is a North that would love to gain control of this nation again as well as an apathetic S/west. |
Beaf doesn't understand that we are demanding what should rightfully be ours. ![]() |
vicenzo:CHINEKE! My anger boils over. He will rue the day he ever crossed the Ndigbo! |
Beaf sometimes I wonder if you enjoy battling the major ethnic groups. You take that as a badge of honor even when you are on the losing side. We, the Ndigbo have the right to be upset with Jonathan's actions. You expect us, the SE, to trust a man who cannot give us one measly position, even though we gave him the bulk of his support? I am sorry, but he is not worthy of our respect. Jonathan walks on shaky ground. You think the Yoruba will support him in his time of need? No. . . Do you think the Hausa will support him in his time of need? Hell NO! We the Ndigbo disown this man and all the troubles he brings with himself. |
It seems like Nairaland is not the only forum on fire about this Igbo disrespect. If you go to newspaper websites and other Nigerian forums, the Ndigbo on those threads are mad as hell. Finally, the Igbo nation is waking up from their slumber. |
dem_people, ignore the fool before he gets you to derail your own thread. |
Just ignore zstranger, the paper lion is still hurting from the mortal wound I gave him in the other thread. He has been castrated. |
Beaf:Beaf do not start a "beef" over Jonathan. I would have hoped you would understand the anger that the Ndigbo are feeling due to Jonathan's utterances and actions. This man is not acting very neighborly to those who provided him the bulk of his support. A word of caution. Do not pisss off the Ndigbo. It is enough that we are being ridiculed by the Yoruba and Hausa, but for some groups in the Niger Delta to betray us YET AGAIN. That is the last straw. You have been warned. |
Dr. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala will not accept this position. Who does Jonathan think he is trying to give this position that is far below her pedigree. This woman should be the president, not this man who is a so called doctor in zoology. |
How dare this fisherman continue to insult the Ndigbo! ![]() |
Of course Beaf would find this thread silly, because he got what he wanted. Is this why the 'South-South' politicians are silent on this zoning controversy. Beaf will not find this thread silly, when it actually happens in GEJ loses all SE support. |
I miss home! And I just saw one of my father's property in on one of the pictures. |
