Odenigbo Aroli: You go see Oba,today! The usual line when they wanna scare you. now i truly believe u once lived in benin. u be true benin boy. #gazzi |
Do you boys understand what "plausible" means?
lol, bye. |
This is a Youtube comment that seems to be a plausible explanation
if the youtube comment is what u choose to believe, good. but it does not seem like they were volunteers taking the clothes to the wounded, coz from the video you will see they were selecting what they "liked" and strolling away with it. and there was no urgency in taking it to someone in dire need of it. it was pure looting. eod. |
Actually, looking at the video, that's not looting. The cops/officials are there watching. Seems like they're giving items away due to the match's cancellation.
geez, why do u guys always make up silly excuses? they were clearly looting, or stealing, or kpake-ing the clothes. |
if u are genuinely interested in Nigerian cultures, u should try and have a tour guide in each city u intend to visit who will take u around, otherwise u will end up wasting ur time becos the average Nigerian is pretty much clueless about the culture and the places of historical significance to visit. so if u intend to visit a place like Benin, u should try and get in touch with someone like Osemwengie Ebohon coz i know he used to open his doors to tourists who are interested in the culture. not sure if he is still into it tho, but u can try i guess. side note: when u are in nigeria, avoid looking like a tourist and avoid sounding yankified as much as possible, coz that will make you an easy target for exploitation. goodluck. |
Ok!! Thanks for responding... I still think your Oba acted like a little biitchass Nigga!! The Queen will not even help him book a taxi in the U.K let alone come to the airport to pick him up.
kai, internet good sha coz e no get how that ur mouth for not at least chop slaps for dis ur idiotic comments. |
somalia9: ^ that somali guy has issues, why? becos hes a somali faggit? free ya mind. |
somalia9: Slavery has done people wrong.yup, that's why u need to free ur mind like ur brethen below. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PnpytOY3Lv0 |
pazienza: Every one knows that the efiks, ibibios and annangs are one and same people that doesn't just have a collective name. Ijaw tribes had long united under ijaw banner, the igbo groups of south south are still disjointed. So,there you have it. Bini is a minority amongst minorities and should have no temerity denigrating at the great igbo nation.lol, at least in the nigerian context of the words -- efiks, ibibios and annangs are tribes under whatever ethnic group they belong. oyo is a tribe and yoruba is the ethnic group. aro is a tribe and igbo is the ethnic group. bini is a tribe and edo is the ethnic group. so u did not only bring the whole of igbo, u also included the igboid group to come compete with bini, a tribe in edo? how is that not ojoro? and even with all the ojoro, the biniman can never be outshined. and bini is not a minority amongst nigerian tribes coz just take a look at nairaland alone, the most mentioned tribe is bini, no doubt. why, u might ask? runda, aigbedo! figuratively and otherwise. |
in the sense that even in the minority zone of south south, the bini's are still a minority,as the ibibio/annang/efik group, ijaw and igbo/igboid groups hold the ace there.and guy u sabi maths o. u just merged three and two groups to compete with one. ojoro master |
pazienza: The western igbo branch alone can even out compete bini in that aspect,i had once witnessed ogbuefi give physics a run for his money on that. *hehe*..dont mean to cut in the convo but i think it was the other way round. |
EASTSIDAZ: It is called remoderniztion. He should break the damn jungle called benin 'city' for a more healthy development. fvuck edo mentality sef svcksshoprite is a franchise that will eventually open in all major cities of nigeria. and benin has had better stores than the damn shoprite that has been in nigeria for a while and it wasnt such a big deal but now that it has ventured into igboland...hey, heaven don come be that. so what does that make the igbo mentality? bushmen |
asog: @exotic, pls go back to ur park where u drive oshiomole bus and stop ranting.callin me broke is really funny cosi can emplloy a thousand of ur kind to work as my gardener n I ll still be very comfortable. With d likes of u in benin, d town can neva progress. If u don't lk 21st century things den go bak to ur village and even stop using internet. Jezzzzz, I jst hate benin mentality, u ppl need to undstnd dt being acient and primitive can neva fetch u anythn.don't take it personal it was ur comments gave u away as a broke azz and someone of no importance wey shoprite still dey shark. can u compare shoprite to leventis of those days? my guy u don't know the meaning of primitive. |
lol i can't believe people are celebrating shoprite. shoprite? and until shoprite comes to ur city it is nothing? nigerians are funny people. |
asog: @ezotick, u hav pure benin mentality-very acient, ur too protective of ur local n acient history. Yes benin was a city in d olden days, rt nw, we r in 21st century, u need to wake up. If truly u call benin developed, den u really need to visit sm oda states. D town is tooooo old and raz 4 my lkin. Pls hlp us beg ur oshiomole to destroy all those mud houses and acient zincs dat filled d city including d so called obas palace cos its an eye-saw. He should embrace developement, gud site seeings cos dats wt attracts quality ppl into a place. Shoprite has already started their building in small warri, pls beg oshiomole to open his eyes and stop being too local. Sometimes I jst wonder what would hav become of d town if NNPC subsidiaries lik NPDC and IDSL were'nt in benin, d town wld hav jst bn filled wt touts.wtf? protective of "local and ancient history"? and that is supposed to be an insult? u are clearly lost. so what does benin lack compared to other nigerian cities? at least a slowpoke like u can post idiotic comments on the internet from benin. so it is now shoprite and no longer cinema? so without 'shoprite' you dont have other places in benin to buy food stuff? when the hell did shoprite even come to nigeria? it started off in lagos 2006 if im not mistaken, and until shoprite came to lagos, lagos was nothing? as if a broke azz u can afford to go to such places when they decide to come. and is it oshomiole duty to destroy people's houses and do what with a land? build new houses for them with fancy roof because benin is too old and raz for liking? lol. so why dont u move ur azz out? or do u need a passport and visa to relocate to ur so-called choice area of nigeria? fool. u prolly cant move because like i said, u are a broke azz that is contributing nothing but nuisance to the city. |
bestview: Don't cry yet boy lolnope. i agree to the notion that u find mud houses in benin because it is not a new city. all old cities in nigeria and west africa have mud buildings coz mud was the material used for buildings then, duh! but that does not make them a rural village but adds to the rich heritage of the city. and how come it is only ur area of nigeria that do not have mud buildings? it proves u have been living on trees, huh? |
^^^Can we see a short youtube video of Benin (kinda like we have for Enugu, Owerri and Umuahia) so peeps can form their own opinion of the place.
and a short video will not be a selected area that people claim the pics represent? if u are really interested in any nigeria city, take a trip to the city. nigerian cities are not too far from each other. owerri to benin will not take u more than 7 hours on the road. so move ur azz instead waiting for a short video to base ur opinion on. |
bestview: You are pathetic. Lollol, u are foaming in the mouth i see. yes benin has mud buildings because it is not a new city. the history of the city is over a 1000 years. those mud buildings have been there while u were still swinging from tree to tree like tarzan where ever u are from. u recently just got off the tree and started living in buildings and now u think a three storey building is a highrise. bushman. btw, who ever made that post will probably be ur brother not mine. |
tonychristopher: will their diabolism and witchcraft couple with their prostitution and armed robbery allow that old glorified village called city develope.i live in ogida and that city sucks i must confess... look at owerri, calabar, enugu, asaba, awka even ph then imagine benin city with all their fabled civilization what they offerand the irony of it all is that out of all the cities u mentioned, u still chose live in benin? that speaks volume. |
bestview: My friend don't misunderstand me. The pics you posted are roofs of commercial setup in the city, its not a living area. Look at the far or extreme right of same pics that is a glimpse of Fegge. Awada and Nkpor areas has even greater of such breathtaking edificeslol, commercial setup? thats ur excuse? why did u use the roof at all? and all i see in the far extreme are buildings cramped together. a bird's eye view of an area ought to reveal the network of roads and all i see in the entire pic is a congested environment. go and change the ancient roofs in onitsha and fix roads before coming here to cosign nonsense. |
bestview: This is best post that really depicted Benin as it is.take a cue from the same ancient zinc that was used in the 17th cent in Benin? lol, at least Benin used it in the 17th cent but it seem some people just caught on to it. www.nairaland.com/attachments/675048_Onitsha_aerialview_jpg94a71239e43f59b52a79a21667e987d4 and a three storey building is not a highrise my dear, so pls come again. |
Solozzo: I wonder if you live in Benin currently? If u do you would not say this.so how are we sure u currently live in Benin? becos u made negative comments? |
kidnapping is the only thing i will not give Benin a pass for. every other thing dey kamkpe. at least, in Nigerian terms. |
oh, and even if there are old houses in old areas of Benin, I do not subscribe to destroying the houses because they are part of the history of the city. If the roof is what is bothering you, change it. Look at what West Idahosa did to his father’s house at Mission Rd, he changed the roof to modern ones but kept the structure of the house and the house is there looking beautiful. Take a cue from him. and there used to the Cinemas in Benin when the ecomony of Nigeria was good. Saidi Centre was there at MM Way and Ebony Cinemas was there at Ikpoba slope but they died when the economy of Nigeria died, and as Nigeria’s economy revives, those things will gradually come back. Hell, it was Ben Bruce that recently revived Cinemas in Nigeria with SilverBird in Lagos and there are talks of SilverBird Cinema coming soon to Benin btw, most of the pics are old and ive seen them like 2 years ago |
anybody that says GRA is the only livable place in Benin is clueless. most of what you call GRA today are not part of the original GRA but areas that expanded into GRA. Ugbor was not part of GRA in those days but expanded and became part of GRA. Parts of Sapele Road and environs are very okay and fast becoming the new GRA. Ikpoba Hill is very okay. Ekewan and environs with Ugbowo and environs are very okay because of the university - UNIBEN. Mission Road, Akpakpava, Sakponba, MM WAY, 1st and 2nd east circular are all livable and the roads are good. And Nepa is way better in Benin compared to other parts of Nigeria that I have lived in, plus the mosquitoes in Bengazzi are not ferocious. |
nigerians turning to god part of the documentary was hilarious. |
ok good. and i noticed these words are not on that website. brain - erere wisdom - ewaen heart - udu |
@starflux, i thought about this airport thingy again while looking at 'okeho' and if we try to translate airport in its literal meaning to edo, it would be ‘ekeho’ with an accented ‘o’ since there is a subtle stress on the ‘o’ while pronouncing. i think that would sound better than ‘eke okeho’. plus, it is short and easy to pronounce. so my suggestion for now is: airplane – okeho airport - ekeho anyone can improve on it. |
pazienza: Yea,they are,but i don't know about the complaining part, most people from there have no difficulty identifying as igbos, like their neighbouring aniocha towns. I get that their elders are a bit worried about being totally assimilated, but at this point, there is really nothing they can do about it. Go to their facebook group page and see for yourself. They are good people.well, it seems like they are on to something, and the yoruba in them is calling... In protecting their language which is gradually being threatened, a revival process has been started. Part of this is that some of them now choose to give their children Oluku mi names and to sing and say prayers in Oluku mi. In some cases, some radical reformers and revivalists changed the names given to them by their parents from Igbo to Olukumi. The climax of the restoration process of their linguistic ethos and identity was the christening of the incumbent Oloza with an Olukumi name, Ayo.but hey, goodluck with ur "peaceful assimilation". |
