@Poster I quite agree with you but only partially, I don't agree with the fact that people have to turn the light bulbs off as i guess they only use a reasonable amount of energy but as a couple of people have pointed out as regards energy efficiency, if you don't need it why have it on anyway, As you appear to be ill advised that 'common sense' requires the lights to stay on but thats very incorrect and i wouldn't blame you for being ignorant as most nigerians in nigeria are not well enlightened about the importance of energy efficiency for your pocket and most importantly the environment As regards average cost of bills, at my previous apartment my average bills usually came up to about £125-£140 partly because i didnt have gas central heating taking into account not minimal but very reasonable use regardless of not using any energy during the day as i was usually at work, atleast this gives you an idea of why people do what they do because at the end of the day you'ld rather spend money on things you enjoy rather than wasting it on bills |
Yes you can extend the old MRP, I didnt realise until i went there last week for an E-passport interview. My advice is make sure you arrive there early in order to get a ticket otherwise you may end up waiting a good few hours but asides that it appeared fairly organized as i wasn't expecting any better than that and i was adviced to return in 10 days time to collect my passport |

Busy_body:@busy_body, its a positive prayer, so i'll say Amen Very well said, but everyone seems to be laying emphasis in relation to the source of income, I only cited that obviously to let people know that dreams are achieveable, , So it's not about the job or where income currently comes from, after all what do you do when you become jobless? Find another job! what i was trying to say was if you've got everything well planned out with a level of discpline in this country, there is a very high chance of getting there and i repeat myself 'high chance' of getting there, So don't worry about me people, just leave it to me and Baba God. When he don did it, he don't stop, |
Busy_body:I take it you are here too, Anglia Ruskin university have regional colleges in cambridge, peterborough, chelmsford and london , I currently study Full-time BA(Hons)International Business Management which is round about £4000 in the london regional college, I can conviniently pay that after working full-time during the long breaks thank you. Unfortunately their are no wuru-wuru's involved which doesn't lead me to discuss the terms of my earnings, but as it works with every other sales/retention departments in every other company, you paid wages + commision which may even be sometimes alot more than your basic earnings with regards to level of effort, very well pay taxes but still convinient and able to meet all neccessary requirements. It doesn't matter how long you spend living here, what matters most is what you do with the little time, I know you might still be wondering how possible it is, but i didnt wake up one day knowing what to do, I had to do alota research. |
It's true what the poster has said, but i would say it all comes to down to you as an individual, I came into the uk in 2007, yes i dropped out of university in nigeria literally in my final year, but now i have no regrets because so far i've been very disciplined with my master plan. Im currently at the Anglia Ruskin Uni in cambridge and currently work part-time as a T-mobile retention agent, which is my only source of income and caters well for my rent, my fees and what not, So it all boils down to what you to chose to do and how convinient it is for you, and if you want it you'll get it , the conditions of living in england are way far better than back in Nigeria and theres a wider spread of oppurtunities to inhabitants whether educated or not here than it is in nigeria, It obviously has its downside as it works out to be very expensive to live in , but if u do the right thing here, you will go on to cherrish it for the rest of your life regardless of what country you chose to relocate too, this is my stand |
The best thing about christmas for me is sharing with the ones you love, I bought my dad a Hp pavillion dv9000 Laptop, got my mum a SE T303 which was quite good looking, got my younger brother sum designer headgears and sum designer perfume for my sister, made me feel good but still didnt leave myself out, went on sum mad ass cloth shopping since prices were badly slashed, spent some quality time with my gf, plus i got a special christmas gift off her as well, all in all it was worthwhile |
@ Backslider , And what is the big picture? have no genarators in nigeria, maite! You forget that thre are generators out ther for even poor people, you can still get generators for between 8 and 10grand in naija, I c a point in what you saying but people aint gon use generators when they've got light or would you have your generator working when you've got constant power from nepa, NO! period!! Quit the idea man, It just doesn't make sense , coz i know that there are loadsa of poor people out ther, . who find solace with their running mini-generators, stopping mosquitoes atacking these poor people in huge numbers atleast with their energetically spinning ceiling fans, atlst for now, When the power issue gets sorted out then we can think of banning generator, which might sound right if we are trying to curb noise pollution, banning it now, because we think only the rich can afford it wouldn't not help matters, |
Guys, it's what we all wish for that the electricity sector stabilizes and power supply becomes constant, thats what we all want, if you get steady electricity supply, you not gona wana turn on the generators when you'v got LIGHT!! that would be in insane my brothers Seriously, the whole idea of banning the use of generators shouldn't even arise in the first place, it's just completely pointless, it's not like we even manufacture them enough in nigeria to reach out to even the poor villages were there ain't even electric poles, Don't forget, the industrial sector would still require the services of generators whether electricity is constant or not, to prevent there production processes from been disrupted atall, realistically, naija just needs to sort out the whole power sector first and when it becomes reliable, then we can start talking bout ways to tackle noise pollution and all, it's step by step , but banning the use of generators or importation, please just stop it man, |
why don't our leaders think of something more creative than banning generators or even coming up wit the idea, ?? |
yea very much settled, i would have shared this a while back but i'm not frequent on here you see, but tanx again a million, it does sound funny, you not wrong but i actually did it. coz i remember getting all the emails of every cabinet member and that was how it escalated and led to the case been re-visited, I been here for bout a year now . .tnx to your advice, . .i fowarded a well structured letter containg all the facts and figures . .and the results just came out of the blues, I guess my case was a one-off. . but tnx again |
@funkybaby - remember your post to me in 2006 People make mistakes, Its amazing what we can learn in life from other people's experiences. Well, its too late to start crying over spilt milk and the earlier we think of a solution the better. I think there should be some regulatory body based in UK where you can LODGE A COMPLAINT about what BHC has done to you. I guess you still have a copy of the email you sent to them and a copy of the reply they sent back to you asking you to WAIT. I advice you write to AIT, write to Home Office @ UK, infact,if its possible write to Tony Blair. State everything that has transpired between BHC and you. They should be able to do something that will allow the appeal decision to be valid for September 2007. What BHC has done is simply not fair, Why wait till 2days after the expiration of the letter to call you It is so annoying! Browse the internet and search for the e-mail of the home office (BHC's 'oga patapata') and state your case. I just came across this post today, its funny how i did what you asked me to do then and it worked, i mean it really worked - I WROTE TO THE CABINET BACK IN 2006,copied all their emails and sent them copies of my complain in writing and i tell you , it escalated the whole case and thats why im in the united kingdom today, with a 4years valid visa. I wana say thanks, |
Can you all just post what u think is quite reasonable in terms of monthly earnings that one can say ,i'm comfortable with escpecially at the start of a graduate career, just something thats more 'less a starting point for a fresh graduate In the above countries, |
step back for a second, this is not for kids ask seun who approached him with the masterpiece it's yo boi six , fresh to death from 06 & still iz, just up the west for mor biz, for the sake of the game i'm ill, i normally, wouldn't waste no time atall to 'kill bill' i'm a grown man, shoot the shoot & don't talk i rap to address the truth & make bucks nat spiting like a griffin, sharing thots with the cielin i don't concur to all this shit that you spitin On point, spitin less metaphors in what i say i'm straight with the words because i'm not gay talk less bout guns & drugs & all sorts i'm been real, was raise no where near the onslaught it's wise being simple with the basic needs, what these people wanna hear are the ABC's, simple things that you spit,so that they could relate i advice you, refrain from all these 'junior debates' In the spate of 'revolving issues, 'round the world spend time touching 'lives of people, wit your every word i'm out, just tot i'd let the message leave a buzz up in the west end, pple keep your fingaz crossed i'm deal, gat naffin to prove to all them rap talibans i dare you, not to crown me the king of nairaland |
@rosquare, i wasn't talking about the nigerian banking scene,, i presume you live in the U.K. I live with a mate whose only gone to college but with 8months working experience in face-to-face customer service, previously worked The Cobra Group, he's just 19 & currently works for RBS(royal bank of scotland), of course!!! without a degree, even in naija, most banks still use OND holders at the counters, , so what are you talking about? |
@redsun, you can testify to this .but we don't accord them the title of 'bankers' here, ,i just see them as cashiers man, besides u don't even need a university degree to work in a bank, all you need is experience in which ever role you apply for and thats all, the banking halls are not even that extravagant , more or less like shops, these banks here are not meant for all forms of transactions hence ther loadsa cash machines every where, i reckon i havn't seen anywer pple blagg so much about working in a bank except in naija, well it's the enviroment that allows it because of the huge diffrenc in income, whereas alot of the menial jobs still eventually pay a lot more here, |
Merry xrismas to evryy one in 9ja,especially my beautiful family, ol dem great friends, missin ol'yal very badly, some hw thers no place like home,, anwayz mery xrismas to evryone else & evry other beautiful person i would be meeting in the new year, luv yall MERRY XRISMAS AGAIN |
@ poster, u'v gota sort yourself out first, besides as a student all the other rights follow, as long as you are genuinely studying in the U.K & u can show evidence of financial support for yur partner, screw me if i'm wrong, but with your student visa you have the right to invite anyone else, it's some right every student in the U.K has.i'm in the U.K as well, so u gota sort yourself out then ypour partner afterwards |

@ funkybaby thanks for the advice, i really hope i'd be a bit lucky about the whole thing, I have lodged complains to the AIT & the HOME OFFICE, & they'v moved me from desk to desk, finally i'v been asked to lodge a complain to the UK VISA POLICY SECTION whom they claim are in charge of such matters. But of course if i had waited all this while i'd probably hav been stigmatized by the "No School, go re-take jamb syndrome", so if it works out hopefully, it's use wudn't be too relevant again, because i immediately decided to further my studies, it wud then be basically for hols, I cud do wit I.T ther too, which ever way, |
@ funkybaby Thanks for the advice, I agree i made a big mistake chillin & not bombarding them, I did mail them doe, but i was asked to wait for a while, which sounded like, 'take it easy, u'll get it", u know & in the end , Anyway, i got bac to the AIT & the Home Office & i was asked to write to the UK VISA POLICY SECTION, i'v done that too, & asper the admission,it was originally for sept 05, but due to the refusal, i immediately applied to the school for another offer, which i got again for sept 06 & the BDHC knew and decided to call me 19 OCT 06, 2 days after my extension of arrival from the school had expired(17 Oct)to be precise, & u know the 2 sad things here, the school doesn't do defferment, which means i have to keep re-applying & the school only has sept. resumption for undergrads, |
YO! it's your bOI F6, fRoM the BBC NEXT BIG THING, wassup seun(administrator), Thanks for ol dat publicity, I just joined the naira land train, |
@funkybaby i think i could get sum help here, I applied for students visa in 2005 for a 4-year programme at the university of wales, & was refused entry on the grounds that i did not show "origin of funds" but was given a right of appeal. I sent my filled appeal form within the stipulated 28 days period around september 2005, but my appeal dint get to the AIT untill april, after series of pressure from me & the AIT to the BDHC, all on paper. My judgement came out in August 2006 & the judgement stated "appeal must be allowed", I waited for a call-up from the BDHC 7 it did not come untill October 19,2006, to come pick up my visa I got there and presented a current offer of admission which had lapsed by 2days, even after the 3 weeks grace given by the school, I was refused on this ground for an "allowed appeal", although no extra stamp was placed on my passport, but we came to no reasonable conclusion, except that i was asked to come bac whenevr i had a valid offer letter, which means sept,2007 plus no defferment of offer which is peculiar to that school meaning i'd have to re-apply again. Now, i'm aware that appeals are only valid for one year, dun't know how true, but what do u advice i do so that i don't lose the present judgement ? |
I WAS A STRONG CONTENDER AT SETDASTAGE - I GOT INTO THE FINALS & SINCE LAST YEAR, nuttin has been heard of the widely publicized SETDASTAGE, O>K WHERE DID ALL THAT MONEY GO? |

F6 say Amen
Not trying to call you out, but you have only been in the Country for a year, so how are you able to afford the foreign students fees which is going to be around an average of £7,000 on your Tmobilr retention, except you have done some wuru wuru or mago mago
It is so annoying! Browse the internet and search for the e-mail of the home office (BHC's 'oga patapata') and state your case.
