Now first things first, I'll give accolades to whoever rewrote the series like shii is brilliant altho rushed but there were enjoyable moments. To fully grasp the series, u have to understand tha the series is based on two different  books, one a duology titled six of crows and the other a trilogy titled shadow and bone.

  The duology dealt with kaz brekker and his gang as dh were given an impossible heist but not like they were portrayed in the series tho while the trilogy dealt with the darkling and the sun summoner.

   The two books were combined as a whole for the series whereas in the books the characters from the two books never met, think of it as the old German Reich where there existed eastern and western German on the same land with the fold as the encapsulating border segregating em all.

  And I loved the fact that they televised nina and Mathias storyline instead of learning about it through convos and flashbacks. The whole synopsis is this "the fold needs to be destroyed, only someome who can summon light and manipulate it can, Noone has ever seen one, they are thought about as myths just like the stag and all

So I think watching it after this explanation should be straightforward
