We arrived on Wednesday, October the 23rd and we were 32 students in all.

Before I forget, it was only open for Final year students of Architecture in Federal Universities.

We ate and we were all happy and glad.. After eating, we proceeded to the training center where we were welcomed my the Marketing Manager, an Indian man who I couldn’t pick his name. He addressed us and welcomed us officially.

He added that we would tour the industry ASAP and then write an aptitude test the next day (Thursday) based on what we learnt. After all the lecture, we proceeded to the buses where we began the tour of the company.

The company is fully into the production of Wall Tiles, Floor Tiles and Roofing Tiles.. Vitrified and Porcelain Tiles, Marble Series, Granite Series Etc. Honestly, I had lost hope for this country, but after this you, my brain reset to loving this country with full hopes that things will become better. I won’t go into details as to how the tiles were made, but I can say they are of high quality.

One thing I must not fail to mention is that 97% of the materials used in the production process are locally sourced. I specifically learnt that they get Red Clay from Abia state because of its elasticity to produce red tiles and Kaolin from Bauchi state.

After about an hour of touring the industry, taking notes and asking questions we got back to the training center where we proceeded to the bus that will convey us all the hotel in Lokoja, the state capital; which about an Hour and 15 minutes from Ajaokuta. (Note these were all free!)

After we arrived the hotel, we were paired two two (Definitely of the same sex) after refreshing we ate and retired for the day, with many of us reading the jottings we did during the tour in preparation for the aptitude test to be written the next day.

We were received by the staff of the company including Mr Yahaya Ibrahim Lasiu the Health Safety Expert and Mr Mohammed the Personnel Manager and surprisingly staff of the Nigerian Television Authority (NTA) were on ground to record it all.

The benefits the company assured my school UNN, are of mutual benefit and are all signed in a memorandum of understanding. With inclusions to the fact that the scholarship applies to the school.. (So you continue your Masters program with the school) The benefits of the scholarship include full funding for Tuition and Accommodation.

Hence, our journey to Ajaokuta began, as we needed to take the aptitude test that will qualify us for the scholarship.

We left Enugu around 8.00 am and arrived West African Ceramics LTD (Royal Tiles) Ajaokuta, Kogi State by some minutes past 1.

When we alighted I couldn’t help but notice how heavily industrialized the place is. I was impressed when I saw hundreds of workers working in good conditions and meeting Sustainable goals in universal environmental standards.. I immediately started to see that Nigeria will definitely be great one day.

We were accompanied by Dr. Okey Nduka. one of our senior lecturers.

The West African Cermaics LTD (Royal Tiles) organize scholarships for Architecture students in 7 Federal universities, with full focus solely on the Masters of Architecture level. So the scholarship only applies for Masters in Architecture.

My visit to Ajaokuta coincided concurrently with my quest to travel; and when the chance came, I ensured I utilised it fully. I am a final year Architecture student of the University of Nigeria Enugu Campus and visiting the West African Ceramics LTD (Royal Tiles) proved to be a brilliant delight to me. It all started this way…

Science/Technology › Two Women Make History By Doing The First Ever All Female Space Walk by FactBoyz(op): 8:51am On Oct 22, 2019
()
On the 18th of October 2019, two female American Astronauts Jessica Meir and Christina Koch made history in the NASA and Space Exploration World.

The two ladies were scheduled to do the spacewalk at 7:50 a.m. E.T. on October 18th, 2019 with the sole aim  of replacing a faulty battery charge/discharge unit that failed to activate after a spacewalk on the 11the of October.

The faulty unit preventing a set of recently installed batteries from providing increased power, so it must have been replaced before continuing a series of spacewalks to install new batteries.

Christina Koch's childhood dream was to become an astronaut, she began her academic career at North Carolina State University where she earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering and Physics and a Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering.

She also graduated from the NASA Academy program at Goddard Space Flight Center in 2001.

Factboyz gathered that she has done most of her work in space science instrument development and remote scientific engineering fields, she also spent 3.5 years traveling the Arctic and Antarctic regions which she described as mentally and physically challenging.

Christina Meir on her own part is a Swedish American Israeli NASA Astronaut.

Jessica Meir recalls that it could have been the Space Shuttle missions on television she watched as a child that inspired her to become an Astronaut.

She also adds that, “It might have had something to do with the fact that the stars shone so brightly in rural Maine”.

She also holds a Master of Space Studies degree and a Ph.D. in marine biology. She’s a Brown University alum and has done some work at the Harvard Medical School as well.

Meir has been on board the ISS since September 25, 2019, and due to holding a double American and Swedish citizenship, she is also the first Swedish woman in space.

Travel › Top 10 Best States To Hustle In Nigeria by FactBoyz(op): 6:56pm On Oct 19, 2019
()
The average Nigerian youth is conscious about hustling to make it big in the country.

With poverty rate in Nigeria increasing; ideas and innovation are abounding as people seek to solve daily problems and challenges in exchange for cash.

The business market in Nigeria is actually attractive; however inconsistent power supply has been the major challenge; with most companies running with standby generators which use expensive fuel.

However, with many Nigerians wanting to start a business with aim of making massive profits; below, is a list of best Nigerian states to hustle and make it big.

1. Lagos:

The former capital of Nigeria is no doubt coming as the number 1; this is because it is the economic nerve and epicenter of Nigeria.

The opportunities in Lagos are diverse with their tentacles spread across entertainment, information and communication technology, trade, commerce, the academia, and even the religious.

Lagos is the place where you can come in as a poor, unemployed man and still be able to make millions after some years; if you really work hard in Lagos, the chances to make it big are high.

However, for one to really hustle in Lagos, noticed that one has to be very smart and proactive with the reserved ability to solve problems and get paid for services rendered.

Lagos is not a place for a quiet, reserved hustler. You must show you have the vibe and the spirit to work really hard.

2. Kano:

The northern city of Kano prides itself as the economic hub of northern Nigeria.

Every northern city links up to Kano with regards to trade and commerce. With impressive infrastructure and roads, the city is filled with business opportunities to be tapped into.

The population of Kano alone creates an impressive labour market and target market for startups and growing brands or businesses.

3. Anambra:

Anambra is undoubtedly the most visited city in the south eastern part of the country with regards to trade and commerce.

The distinct difference Anambra has with almost all the states mentioned here is that up to 65-70% of goods imported into Nigeria end up in Anambra state.

The cities of Nnewi and Onitsha are the major cities where trade is carried out.

If you visit Anambra there is this tense atmosphere you will experience that speaks a lot about the hustling nature of most Anambra residents.

4. Rivers:Rivers is a state that can be likened to Lagos in a various number of ways; firstly it is the economic epicenter of far south part of the country.

Secondly, it is the most populous state in the South Eastern and South Southern part of the country.
Finally, the job opportunities are as numerous as it is in Lagos.

The population and location of Rivers state gives it an edge over all other Southern state with the exception of Lagos.Rivers with Port Harcourt as the capital is a developed state; at least going by Nigerian standards with many companies of international origin and indigenous origins sited there.

You must have a resilient, stubborn spirit with regards to approach to business to thrive there.

5. Delta:

Delta state is a state blessed with crude oil and it doesn’t come as a surprise in this list; Delta state is home to cities such as Warri and Asaba.Asaba is the capital of the city with a very close proximity range to the River Niger bridge which links Onitsha Anambra state and Asaba Delta state.

This linkup alone creates a very attractive business atmosphere as goods that make their way to Onitsha end up in Asaba.Warri itself a different city in the state is home to various oil companies and large firms.

6. Oyo:

Historically, Oyo state has been a major point for trading point in the South Western part of Nigeria. That characteristic character has remained intact over the years.

The capital, Ibadan is loaded with several business opportunities and the target market for business is highly attractive.

It’s relative close proximity to Lagos also plays a role.

7. Abia:

Abia state is home to the commercial city Aba.

With regards to business in South Eastern part of Nigeria, Aba and Onitsha are the two major cities with the best business opportunities with a very attractive target market.

Abia state deals majorly in production and manufacturing with interests in shoe productions, textile making, soap production, palm oil production; etc.

8. Kaduna:Kaduna state is a state with diverse opportunities especially with focus on the commercial city of Zaria.

Zaria city has been a major city even dating back to the 16th century.Zaria city services a good number of states in the Northern part of Nigeria.

9. Plateau:

Plateau state with capital as Jos; is second to none when it comes to business opportunity in the North Central part of Nigeria.Food in the city of Jos is relatively cheap; hence Igbo traders from Onitsha do make it a point of duty to import foodstuff from this city.

Jos plays the same role with Benue state citing foodstuff.

10. Ogun:

Ogun state is home to most industries in Nigeria.Ogun state is very close to Lagos the commercial city of the country; hence its inclusion is timely.Industries that deal on beverages, soap making and plastics are located in Ogun state.

The best private university in Nigeria; Covenant University is also located in Ogun state. Land in Ogun state is relatively cheap compared to Lagos, hence investors opt to buy land in Ogun state for production and later transport to Lagos for sale.

This doesn’t remove the fact that it’s a good state to work hard and make it.

If that 1.5b was shared amongst 1000 Nigerian Enterpreneurs who are started, they will get 1.5 million naira each and use it to create jobs..

If that 1.5b was invested in high quality shoe manufacturing business, it will employ thousands..

1.5 billion is enough to build standard houses for income earners..

However, our leaders are just plainly clueless and without ideas..

If you can leave the country, please do.. you will definitely weep for your country when you visit Europe or North America.
