Congratulations!!!! how old are your kids and did they put on school uniform ?

I had my interview this morning at the Lagos embassy.
My hub and I with 2 kids.
Scheduled time was 7.30am but we were interviewed around 8.45am.
Vo : Hello. May i have your passports
Us: Good morning and hub passed our passports
Vo: Where are you going?
Hub: Florida
Vo: Where in Florida?
Hub: Orlando.
Vo: Why are you going to the U.S?
Hub: For tourism and vacation.
Vo: How long are you staying?
Hub: 14 days
Vo: Madam what do you do?
Me: I work as Customer Relationship officer for ****
V.o: How long have you been working there?
Me: 8 years. Will be 9years in a few months.
 Vo: What do you do sir?
Hub: I'm a bla..bla... in bla bla.... organisation.
Vo: How long have you been there?
Hub: 10years.
V.o: Tell me about your job roles
Hub:  He thoroughly explained his job roles
Vo: Have you travelled before?
Hub: Yes Ghana for our honeymoon and my wife travelled to Dubai for vacation after that...though we were supposed to go together but Work schedule was tight.
Vo: How long have you been married?
Us: Told him
Vo: Do you have any other children apart from these?
Hub: No....my wife will kill me (we had joked about that...Was surprised he replied the VO)
Me: I can't kill you nah
V.o: Picking the white paper and circling our pick up location. Pick up in 3 working days...
Me: It dawned on me what was happening...I  said thank you. Have a nice day.
No single document was checked! Not even our old passports containing the little travel history.
Started following this thread as a silent reader in October. Saw the need to read up Part 1 & 2 in December (though I must say it wasn't easy...but it was worth it)
I could say I had grasped everything needed to get my visa...but erm...na God. I thank everyone that keeps this thread going for people like me

The interview was a while ago and I really couldn't figure out why:
- I had ties : decent pay, good company, family etc
- I had travel experience : I travel once every year or twice depending on the travel bug bite
- I was confident not cocky, not shy!

Frankly, I wasn't sure. But after talking over with a friend, he encouraged me to reapply.

I did after 8 weeks and I remember being asked only 4 questions before my visa was approved: where are you going and why, what do you do and where?

I understand the VOs are trained in psychology etc but they are also humans and sometimes make mistakes. If you are legit genuine with a purpose and funds and an overall good profile, apply again.

In the case I shared, the applicant may also have been frightened - person's a tad shy and always nervous.

But I see your point!

Sometimes, it's hard to figure out what went wrong and just try again as long as you tick every box - think ties.

In my case, I reapplied after a spell and got the visa. I didn't change a thing from the first DS160 form [b](except to explain why I was denied initially ).[/b]

I'd just advise you work on ties and reapply.

I will suggest you reapply let's see how the other VO will treat your case, we got ours without no travelling history.

If you are denied this month of November, how soon can someone reapply ??

Have read through some information in previous part, and not so
clear on some issue about filling out the forms. Which one should come first out of Appointment or DS-160, since am planing to fill the forms my self.

You are to fill out your DS-160 form correctly before scheduling an appointment. You will only be allowed to attend your interview with the passport bearing the number entered in your DS-160 confirmation form, if your name exactly matches the name in your passport, and with a DS160 confirmation printout that matches the DS160 application (CEAC) receipt number you used when scheduling the appointment.

Good morning gurus in the house, me age 31, my wife age 26 and my only girl age 5 and i am the manager of my company for 4 yrs now and my wife is also working. i earn 650k per month and our leave have been approved for xmas period and we will be spending 14 days. and our appointment have been schedule for the end of this moth. I have also traveled to Ghana for my training/seminar, which my wife have also traveled to 3 diff Africa country due to work related. I had my interview with my wife and child last Friday and visa was denied...........here is our transcript:

Me: I gave him the 3 pp (but still have my wife old pp with me that have her traveling history)
VO: why are you traveling to the US?
Me and Wife: we are going for family vacation
VO: Have you traveled out of Nigeria before?
Me: Yes (was flipping tru my pp to check )
Vo: Madam and you
wife : Yes, and mention the 4 African country she have traveled too ( but was flipping tru my wife pp to see if she have really traveled but did not see it.
VO: what do you do?
Wife: I am a bla bla with blaa blaa
VO: u say you work for bla bla and you said you have traveled ( and was still flipping tru my wife pp to confirm)
Wife yes
vo: sir what do you do?
Me: I am the blaaa for blaa bla company

me: and i xplain
vo: you say u are going to Georgia and you say u dont know any body, frnds or family ?
I and Wife : No, we dont know anyone, i now said that but we will be staying in a hotel which we have made a hotel reservation already.
VO: type for 2 mins and say I am sory you are not qualify to travel at this time. you can try and reapply any time
I and Wife : thank you...........

pls i need to know what is wrong here......though me and wifey have decided to travel to kenya or SA for our vacation this December since we were denied for the 1st time and plan to reapply for by February......

Me; Yes ,South Africa in 2012(Vacation) and Ghana in 2013 (training)
Vo: Madam, what do u do
Wifey: She mentioned it
Vo: Have you travelled before
Wifey: Dubai in 2013 and Ghana in 2014
Vo: Did you went to work in Dubai
Wifey: No , vacation for 2 weeks
Vo: What is the name of the hotel you will be staying
Me: Mentioned it
Vo: How did you book the hotel

Vo; What is the address of the hotel

She types for like 45 secs and she said the magic statement.Your visa has been approved. Pick it up at this address in 3 working days.

it's very simple... they will ask for your work email not your personal email during the interview session. So the email in ds160 is different from your work email and it's not advisable to use your work email to apply for U.S visa.

If you are working in a renowned firm, you will be given an email.. Usually with the name of the company

Where skyfirm is companies name

You mean when asked I should say my company email instead of my persinal one I filled on my ds 160 ?

please i want to know...............when the Vo ask for your official email, which email are they talking about.....cus the only email i haveis my personal email and it was the email i sue to fill my ds 160 form

I flopped at my interview....pls how can I correct all the lies my agent put up?
And how soon can I reapply....?

2. Be bold, confident, look at the eye of the VO when answering. Give detailed answers, give answers till you are asked the next question or if you are done answering.

4. Is your wife pregnant?
5. From what you have written, your ties are okay.

Don't put yourself in a spot, just be confident when answering your questions & maintain eye contact with the interviewer, you should be fine.
