Sure students are allowed to drive but not with a Nigerian drivers license, but having a Nigerian drivers license makes it easy for u to acquire the US drivers license.

You will still need to write the DMV online test and if you pass u'd then proceed to doing the road test then I think if u scale through that u'd get ur drivers permit card or drivers license.
