HELLO MEN & WOMEN, will any of you support the Federal Government of Nigeria (Military) using these arms on the people of the Niger Delta?, if your answer is YES!, then the militant did well to depopulate some of them.

And do not be surprise that this war has become a war of conscience.
The federal govt had to use that on the people who resorted to violence after all entrities failed.

Do not forget that those people who claim to be fighting for Niger Delta are doing that not for personal reasons. If not all the money they get from hostage taking is would have been given to the poor in the region. no the use it biulf mansions like Ateke and so on and live in luxury in the midst of penury.

Most of those who turned war Lord were made by politicians to fight oppositions and when the politicians did not meet up their expectations, they became virulent and cancerous.

Please look at it both ways. These people keep killing the same Niger Delta people they claim to fight for? who is deceiving who? They are hiding under the cloak of genuine fighters like Ken Sarowiwa to answer freedom fighters but the gulf between them is like that between hell and heaven.
Do not be deceived

Those questionsprobably have answers already. Otherwise how can you explain the balance of N200M in the bank acount of an army of officer whose annual take home is less than a 600K and various other sums in the accounts of those who guard the amoury?

Furthermore, what did that guy come to do with N250m and why did he run when he knew his cover has been blown?
You and I know the truth so why should we not talk.

They are courtmashalled, they are not charged to court.
This is military law not democracy so rule of in the army is a mirage cos there is supposed to be zero tolerance to indiscipline.

I am not sure they even have a lawyer. Do they? lol

What I'm saying is that everyone one should have the right to be innocent until proved guilty. That is the law and it should apply to everyone. We are talking about equity and human rights, yet we want to crucify those accused without knowing the outcome of the court martial.

If you believe all that the media says then you can believe anything. I'm not denying the fact that there are elements of truth in the news report, but who to blame can not really be ascertained.

In the military there are scape goats, those who are made to pay the price for other peoples sins and they can do nothing about it. Most times the verdict for a court marital is already decided before the trial begins.

We forget so easily how people were accused of being coup plotters in previous regimes, how the were incacerated, tortured etc. The truth is that we may never know what really happened in this arms scandal.
The long and short of it is that someone or some people have been stealing from the national amoury, selling for personal gains to those who will sabotage and destablize the country.
Cannot be justified in anyway. The media does not blow an empty trumpet. Some arms and ammunition are missing. That is the problem here. Where are they? Who removed ? Did they grow wings?

So lets stop the rule of law sentiment.

1st task---secure my ass :p
2. get all the Nigerians who have ever in one way or the other ate from of the Nigerian resources at home or abroad in shackles. I mean all from 1960 when we got independence. they all need to clarify their position in the Nigerian economical history.
3. Get IBB, Abubakar and OBJ all other uneducatated morons who have find their way to various position of power in the Nigerian society + to books. [No one would be pardoned and that is why I will have to 1st secure my ass]
4. Get rid of all the old engines in the system. They are all worn out already and have nothing to offere other than stealing public funds + they are not well knowledgeable about the global field.
5. Bring the change in our people's lives. There is too much suffering in a nation that has it all. Ask Nigerians for their honesting in making a better life for each and every Nigerian.
6. Reform, Agriculture, Health, Education , Technology and Youth&Sports ministries
6. Bring back free education at all levels & subsidized health cover
7. Make sure that every institution publicly declare a credible inflow/outflow of FINANCES every year

(before or while all these is in progress, introduce a nationwide identification system for all Nigerians which will be effective since that would be the only way they will quality for free education or health)

---and the list goes on!
I wish that will be possible.

Each time I come across people discussing the Niger Delta issue, I have always been forced to look the other way because many of the opinions will always want to paint the picture of the "Criminal Niger Delta Militants" but, hey, wait a minute, the Federal Government and the Multinationals that have deprived the area of ALL basic good things of life are not often touched in the discussions. Whether the army officers provided the ammunitions or not, it is left for the army authority to apply their justice, but, what motivate these personnel to provide these arms, if it is out of the just cause to liberate the region from the age long oppressions, then let it be.
Recently, we are reading from the dailies how OBJ son has been seriously involved in contracts of the NDDC, ask me, how many of such contracts are properly executed and who cares to monitor them.

My own is LET THE NIGER DELTA BE DEVELOPED then there will be no room for militancy, and temptation of the army officials to sell arms, train or join the militant groups.
Who on earth is in support of the Niger Delta deprivation. I guess no one is.  More often than none, armed struggle does not lead liberation. And if you are trying to brand officers messiahs, why do they have to collect money to supply such arms? They should have supplied the arms free of charge. But no they had to steal from the country they are commissioned to protect and make money at the expense of the unity of the country.

@Echidime
You cannot exclude the Igbos cos no names has been mentioned as far as I know or am I missing something here?

My brother, we just dey exchange ideas. No big deal.

Your referrence link was about red beans, not our popular blackeye pea or 'beans'. I know there are at least 100 species of beans, both poisnous and edible.

Personally, I have never eaten red beans, but I know people who have. My grand-mother would tell us about some type of beans they were forced to eat as kids because of hunger, "we soaked it for 4 days, cooked it for 24 hours, and had the dog taste it before we did" My discussion is focused on blackeye pea, because some species of beans could kill you.

Another point with your ref. was that it was an experiment in mice- now, you know that man and mice don't share similar diet, colonic anatomy, or even social influence of excessive gas production-farting.

Naijaking thank you very much. Nothing de happen as you said.
I have never disputed the nutritional value of beans. have not also disputed that gas production from bacterial break down beans is not normal, in fact I did say it is not disputable.

If you take a closer look at the first link I posted, you will see that it said that red beans has the greatest amount of lecitin (phytoaglutinin) and even gave you the percentage of lecithin in white beans(black eyed pea) which you are talking about. They all contain this guy.

Although we all know that when we soak beans or boil it for a while and discard the water, the extent of diarrhoea reduces, look the link from FDA as was posted above
http://www.fns.usda.gov/fdd/facts/hhpfacts/FS-PeasBlack-eyedDry.pdf
In all the methods of preparation, they advised that you soak or boil for a while a remove the. I do not think it is the fiber that is meant to be removed with the water. I guess it is the chemical that causes the wahala. How you see ma point? cheesy

From a surgical point of view, any agent that induces colonic diarheae also activates the lymphocytes lining the colons, not just with beans.

Diarheae or not, the most important point is moderation. There are different types of fiber-soluble and insoluble, but they produce same effect- makes you go.

Have you ever wondered why beans is always on the menu of institutionalized settings- prisons, hospitals, boarding schools? Despite the bad name, it's the only cheaply available food that has been found to ward off malnutrition.

Many people don't know, I too didn't know when I was in boarding house at Nike Boys, we thought that Wednesday and Saturday beans was a punishment sent directly from hell.

Oligosacharide is a soluble fiber (also called fermentable) fiber. It is not a nondigestable. Though about 90% escape digestion in the small intestine, they are digested by becateria in the large intestine which is why they are used as probiotics.
Again vegetables also contain a lot of this oligosacharide yet they do not cause diarrhoea.
I stand to be corrected though.

Beans or black eye pea as they are called in the US is probably the best food anyone could eat.

Here is a USDA link to the nutritional contents of beans:

http://www.fns.usda.gov/fdd/facts/hhpfacts/FS-PeasBlack-eyedDry.pdf

It is definitely FALSE that excessive stooling after beans meal is secondary to some "phytoagglutinins that cause a translocation of bacteria into lymph nodes," or to improper drainage of the water, or because the gods were angry with you as you were consuming the meal.

If you look at the nutritutional contents, you would see that 1 serving, say 1 cup has as much as 11g of fiber. The fiber is what makes you stool, nothing else. Now the more you eat, because it tastes nice or because you're hungry, you may forget that you may be taking a little bit too much fiber than you need.

The next characteristics of legumes or beans is just too much 'fart, gas, or mess' Beans provides you with so many essential minerals than any food group out there that there is a saying that 'if you only have one opportunity to eat one meal in 48 hours, then beans is your food'

Legumes and especially beans contain purines; one of the essential building blocks of DNA, amino acids, and proteins. This high protein compound is what gets broken down by enzymes and bacteria into different types of gases- ammonia, sulfur, nitrogen, carbon dioxide, etc. ---- that you pass the gas as 'fart'.

Passing fart, or gas is also a good sign that the beans you've eaten is being successfully used to replace deficient amino acids and minerals in the body.

Without sounding like a beans salesman, I would like to recommend that you eat beans today, and at least once a week. Beans is one of the natural foods found to reduce your risk of heart attack(it contains 0 fat/cholesterol), reduce constipation, and replenishes lost essential minerlas.

I would like the opinion of registered nutritionists and other physicians in the forum on this topic.
Having said all that, you sound very constructive. The fart thing is not disputable.

But the diarrhoea aspect  . . . . 100 gram of yam has 20grams of fibre. It does not cause diarrhorea. Your vegetable contains a lot of fiber it does not cause diarrhoea but rather aids digestion.

Now take a look at this site. http://www.foodreference.com/html/artredkidneybeanpoisoning.html

Also look at this paper from pubmed
http://www.pubmedcentral.nih.gov/articlerender.fcgi?artid=1382449

There some fibre that is used to ease constipation  like methylcellulose fiber etc. They are used as mild laxative. They are not as aggressive as beans induced diarrhoea. But they are gentle. I am a victim and I know the difference.
Remember not everybody will suffer from the laxative effect.

I will take your explaination and jetison mine if you have a better fact.

Beans contains Phytoaglutinin which causes the translocation of enteric bacteria to into a mesenteric lymph node leading to stooling.
It is the content of beans nad possible overgrowth of bowel bacteria that is to  blame rather than quality of beans lol.
Some does of folic acid may help.
