Ghana fuel price N481

Ghana minimum wage: N25000

Nigeria fuel price N165

Nigeria minimum wage : 30000 naira.
481 is the price of Premium fuel in Ghana ..Ghana sells two grades of fuel in their petrol station

it was there under GEJ, which is why we went from paying N400BILLION in the first year of his regime to 1 trillion the last year.(as one poster pointed out to you).

It always has been there.

There are reasons why governments past and present have wanted to get rid of subsidy completely.
Remember GEJ left daily fuel consumption was 26 million litres a day plus smuggling and open border so how did it increase to 90 million litres a day under Buhari close border ?

Do you get my point ? Buhari should fort reduce daily consumption back to 26 million litres before even talking of his 3rd subsidy removal which he won't still get right ..... See we know Buhari and his cronies are the one padding up this whole fuel consumption thing.

Besides there is no subsidy in any budget so what subsidy is Buhari removing ? We should be Talking of impeaching Buhari for spending unappropriated monies to the tune of almost 2 trillion naira without approval and budgetary provision .

@ emboldened, has Nigeria as a country fixed the epileptic power supply across the country that would make the demand for petrol to reduce?

So fixing the power sector is not even existing in your solution to Nigeria's problems?

The main reason why we have inflated figures of petrol is simple

Smuggling across the border.

Fuel costs N165 here, and over N300 in the rest of West Africa. As a result, people smuggle fuel to other African countries and have been doing so for years. Customs is trying, Buhari even tried the iron treatment of total border closures (and it worked for a while...consumption levels went down)..but the truth is, once people know you can make a profit selling fuel across the border, you can only stop them if you stop subsidizing it.

Again, if you want to stop smuggling, you have to totally remove subsides.

The same thing is happening in Venezuela. Fuel costs the equivalent of N40 per liter...and meanwhile it costs far more in all their neighbours. As a result, Venezuela loses $18 billion yearly due to smuggling.
So you are saying smuggling quadrupled suddenly under Buhari govt at the same time he is saying he has closed the borders to prevent smuggling? You guys don't know what you are saying

Well I live in the west. Thesame fuel you call dirty (not premium) is sold for $1.6(I.e abt N700) in my city and it was $0.76 exactly 2yrs ago. No salary increase, no new palliative. Everybody just adjusts their lifestyle.
In 2012, I was in Ghana on an assignment and listened to their energy minister announcing petrol price and how it was arrived at. At the time the price was like 3 times naija price and my Ghanaian colleague only said I'll rather contact my guys to bring subsidized fuel from naija and sell here than pay that price. Since then I've been sold to removal of subsidy on fuel. Now naija subsidizes gas and electricity.
Whether Buhari, Jonathan or Atiku. Fuel subsidy must go. Jonathan paid about 400b at the start of his tenure when leaving it rose to 1.6T. No be juju be that!and it will continue.
The don't sell dirty fuel in the west , they would never allow that lead infested knocker be sold ..see this dirty petrol is not the 87 you buy for 700 naira ... Besides do you mind sharing the minimum wage of where u stay ?

They imported the dirty petrol for the poor people like yourself that cannot afford premium gasoline? You that can’t even refine your own oil & pay for the cheap imported fuel, you still want Government to subsidize it for you?

A beggar has no choice, least you forget Nigeria’s Bonny light sweet crude is amongst the best in the world, low sulfur, very easy to refine, premium gasoline in the United States. Just a pity it is for export for the benefit of the Oyibo man, cos the Blackman cannot afford what he produces.
Buhari govt is not subsidizing petrol for any Nigerian , all they have done is criminally created over 60 million false litres of daily consumption which is being stolen and used to fund a certain war being waged against Nigerians .. every country including Ghana sell different grades of petrol at the pump for you to chose according to your vehicle engine spec or pocket but I. Buharis god forsaken Nigeria he imports dirty petrol and now wants to sell it at the price mid range petrol . All of you still supporting Buhari are just weak men who can't survive without licking ass ...Rex have you ever made money on your own ?

Building refinery is not supposed to be the priority of government, they should give more private investors licences to build refineries, private investors would run a more effective modular refinery, those old refineries should be dismantled or turned to petrochemical universities, they are obviously moribund, there is no need wasting tax payers money on understand working refineries
Lastly what do you even again supporting such a horridly horrible govt
PoliticsRe: Removal Of Petrol Subsidy Could Be Buhari's Greatest Achievement If He Succeeds by FarahAideed: 11:58pm On Nov 28, 2021
AlexBells:
So you understand that some people are padding the subsidy so you expect Buhari to go fighting these people, just calculate 90 million minus 26 million litres then multiply it by at least 1$ and see how much money bag you really expect Buhari to fight noting that if you fight them they would fight back, the best approach is to scrap the whole thing.

Do you really think Buhari can fight those guys in the real sense of it, people like Arthur Eze, Tinubu, Adenuga, Dangote etc are not people Buhari can fight, Besides,is Nigeria a gasoline producing country? What we mine is crude oil and no car runs on unrefined crude so Nigeria is in same level with Madagascar, we are both technically not a petrol producing country
We have four refineries the govt has spent almost 30 billion dollars maintaining and yet they are not still working ...We have deliberately refuse to produce petrol so we can keep importing Grade F Petrol
PoliticsRe: Removal Of Petrol Subsidy Could Be Buhari's Greatest Achievement If He Succeeds by FarahAideed: 11:45pm On Nov 28, 2021

The minimum wage in America can not be the same with Nigeria if the people keeps wanting to reap the country unripe, even if we take Madagascar for instance a litre of gasoline over there is about 1.025 dollars, there is similar price in Tanzania, in fact Nigeria is among the top 10 countries where gasoline is the cheapest in the world while we have very poor health sector, with good management it would be better if the money spent on subsidy is used to build world class hospital in Every local government in Nigeria
Madagascar is not a major oil producer in the first place and secondly I would rather you explain how local fuel consumption jumped from 26 million litres to 90 million litres a day under Buhari...if Buhari is serious is that not where he should put in his effort to stop the false over bloated daily fuel consumption that is being used to bleed the country badly ?

To save yourself all these headache, google the international price of petrol or better still check the price of Petrol/Gasoline in the United states, see if that's same price they sell in Nigeria, for every extra difference between Nigeria and US, the government Pays the rest, if they had completely removed subsidy, petrol could be a lot costlier, they reduced it but it was not completely scrapped
What grade of petrol should I google in America..America has many grade of petrol at different prices the have grade 87 , grade 89 and grade 92 ( premium) ...The dirty petrol Buhari imports for us can't even be sold in the US because it's considered harmful and yet you want us to buy it at American price ...Do you know what the minimum wage in America is ? When are you going to tell Buhari to copy American minimum wage

As many times as it takes to completely remove it, he had been reducing subsidy now is that time to go for the real deal and scrap the whole damn thing
How many times will he go for the real deal ? cheesy. Last time he said it was the real deal so much there has been no subsidy in our budget so what subsidy is Buhari removing ? Are you not tired of being decieved by Buhari?
