The President-elect, Muhammadu Buhari, is said to be considering the reduction of the number of ministers as part of his strategies for reducing cost of governance. The PUNCH learnt that this formed part of the cost-saving proposals which Buhari presented during the All Progressives Congress’s National Working Committee meeting in Abuja on Wednesday. Those to be done away with are ministers of state. The NWC which is yet to conclude its deliberations on proposals, according a high-ranking member of the APC NWC, include streamlining the ministries and parastatals. The NWC member said, “No concrete decision has been reached on any of the issues yet. We are still meeting tomorrow.” The meeting, which was chaired by the party’s National Chairman, John Odigie-Oyegun, also reviewed the just-concluded general elections, the deadlock in the Taraba State governorship poll as well as the alleged electoral fraud in Rivers and Akwa Ibom states. The National Publicity Secretary of the party, Lai Mohammed, who spoke to journalists during a short break by the committee, confirmed that the NWC reviewed the governorship election. He also said that with the “election behind us, we have to prepare the ground for the transition committee and for the business of the governance.” When asked to comment on the proposals made by Buhari on streamlining the ministries and parastatals, he dismissed the question. Mohammed said, “I think you have been listening to a lot of gossip; nothing like that was discussed. All we discussed was to make recommendations into the transition committee; how the government should hit the ground running and what should be the immediate, mid-term and long term policies of the incoming government. So, all these issues of ministers and MDAs, are your own imagination. Source:http://www.punchng.com/news/buhari-may-scrap-ministers-of-state/ 3 Likes |

By Femi Aribisala If anybody would like to be a serial loser of the presidential election in Nigeria, here is a list of what he needs to do; according to the blueprint of Muhammadu Buhari. If one were to decode the guiding principle of Muhammadu Buhari’s presidential ambitions, it would be this: “If at first you don’t succeed, don’t give up until you have failed three more times on the trot.” Nigerians don’t want Muhammadu Buhari to be our president. We have said this repeatedly since 1999. But Buhari simply refuses to take “No” for an answer. When is he finally going to get the message that an overwhelming majority of Nigerians don’t want him? Buhari is the last of yesterday’s men who insist that a country of 170 million people must continue to rely on the leadership of the same old and failed generation. Nigerians have already put paid to the presumptions of Olusegun Obasanjo; who wanted a fourth term; Ibrahim Babangida; who stepped aside and wanted to step back in; and Atiku Abubakar, who runs a marathon for the presidency. Buhari is the last of these recalcitrant dinosaurs. The one good thing about the coming presidential election is that it is likely to provide Nigerians with a final definitive opportunity to send him permanently into retirement. Buhari’s repeated failure to secure a national mandate provides a textbook case of how not to run for the presidency in a plural country like Nigeria. This is a compendium of some of the reasons why the Nigerian presidency will forever elude men like Buhari, inspire of all the song and dance that attends their candidacies. If anybody would like to be a serial loser of the presidential election in Nigeria, here is a list of what he needs to do; according to the blueprint of Muhammadu Buhari. For more:http://www.vanguardngr.com/2014/12/lose-presidential-election-four-times-1/ |

I want him to come and tell us he was used by the flesh while he's assassinating the character of Gen Buhari. Dear General, Since we are lagging decades behind and must start planing like yesterday, here is my shopping list for you to consider as you plan your government. I want regionalism; I want state police; I want capital punishment for stealing and/or with/without, of not of corruption; I want a nation founding conference; I want strong pro-African posture; I want organic farming and prohibition of dangerous and experimental GMO agriculture (Adesiyan’s dangerous legacy); I want Primary and preventive health over expensive western machines and systems; I want water; I want the promotion of ecologically friendly research via centers and contests and support among all youth; I want the aggressive support of farming; I want the combating of deforestation and desertification; I want decentralization of government; I want restoration of the Parliamentary system; I want shorter terms for elected officials; I want electronic voting if we will still have voting; I want direct democracy (refer to Gadaffi’s Green Book) with market women, professors as Jega used, and all other social groups being part of a local and central government via information technology conferencing; I want an end to colonialist style democracy and return to African methods of selecting Philosophical kings as leaders and not ‘dirty’ politicians; I want an absolute cut on campaign spending with jail as repudiation; I want all campaigns to be completely equally sponsored by the government and only sponsored a fixed amount by the government; I want equal media slots for all contestants; No more impunity for politicians unless there is impunity for common thieves and armed robbers; I want collective and public participatory governance and regular thrash-all conferences, easy thanks to modern IT tools; Regular constituency re-evaluation of representatives with possibility of abrupt mid-term tenure truncation; I want Nigeria to be involved in not only national matters but to play a lead role in regional and global issues. To be involved say, in sending troops and aid to combat ISIS, or rescue hurricane victims, etc; I want investment in eco-friendly natural energy, like the natural pyramids were built to provide by our African brothers in ancient Egypt; Vernacular spoken in school must no longer be an offence as this is our natural tongue; I wan investment in research into all ancient African natural medicine remedies. I do not limited like MRI and CT scan stuff that cost millions and will only be used by a handful, I prefer naturopathic holistic medicine that can quickly help all. We can be world pioneers; Manufacturing does not have to be priority; especially if we do so by crippling the masses and patronizing the cabal as with the current car import ban crap, we must look at what pays us most as a nation, our natural endowment. It may be tourism, it may be so many things. Not all nations must manufacture, we must see what is economically and competitively advantageous for us; I want advantage and consideration for small businesses over the cabal; I want to continue… should I? God bless you http://dailypost.ng/2015/04/02/peregrino-brimah-dear-general-buhari-here-is-my-shopping-list/ Are they feasible ![]() God bless Nigeria 1 Like |

No Civilian President would have done lesser than what Jonathan does. All the other presidents who stuck to power in the past have military background, so Jona hasn't done anything spectacular and I don't think he has made any history contrary to the songs many people here are singing. Now here are my reasons for saying he hasn't made any history: 1. There are international observers everywhere and any nonsense will get him Gbagboed into International prison because they have declared the election as FREE AND FAIR. Remember Charles Taylor, Laurent Gbagbo and Gaddafi. They are all soldiers who are not scared a bit of prison or death, that's why they never stopped fighting. But for GEJ, he is not strong; a civillian like you and I, not ready to languish in prison. Obama himself made allusion to Nigeria election a day before it held, so that is enough to send some sensation of fear into the spine of any African president who has no military background. Jona himself has been made to sign peace treaty twice and also interviewed internationally and made to vow that their would be a credible election. 2. The earlier he agrees with Buhari, the better for him because no matter what he does, BUHARI is ready to suck him dry of the national wealth he has amassed for himself over the years and possibly dump him in prison. You will remember his wife shouting that she wasn't ready to feed her husband in prison. Jonathan is not a strong person at heart, so you should expect him to be scared of prison, unlike the likes of Buhari, Obj and other military converts. So, calling Buhari on phone isn't a big deal at all, since that would be the last appeal he could do so that his punishment could be lessened. With this, by the time Buhari start crying out loud that Jonathan has done this and that, we the gullible Nigerians will start calling Buhari a wicked man and saying "upon how Jona called this man on phone, yet he is still exposing him that way." That is what we call APPEAL TO PITY(Fallacy) 3. With JEGA's intellectually calm and astute response to Mr Odubebe's bei bei bei, the whole world has already judged the man as a very shrewd and unbiased man, so I don't see any court case or rejection of the election result standing at all. Surely, Jega will defend himself and win in all cases. Also, everyone knows that Jona would have made many advances to Jega in attempts to bribe him; surely JEGA will reveal those advances in court and the story would be 'no story at all.' 4. Jona had to act this way(you all know he is a Nollywood actor) just to buy the apathy of many gullible Nigerians (especially the 'prophet says' and the 'Jona is a gentleman' type). He hasn't done anything well for the past six years, so by gently walking away, he wants to use that to gain last-minute popularity. Well, good luck to him but I ain't buying his ideas. 19 Likes 3 Shares |

The Ekiti State Governor, Ayodele Fayose, has urged Nigerians to accept the outcome of Saturday’s presidential election in good faith, saying; “the election result is the will of God and Nigerians, and all lovers of peace, progress and development of Nigeria must accept it”. Mr. Fayose, in a statement by his Special Assistant on Public Communications and New Media, Lere Olayinka, hailed the resilience and commitment of President Goodluck Jonathan and Mohammadu Buhari. The governor said the election results should not been seen as victory or loss for any political party, adding that, “To me, Nigerians and democracy won.” He praised Nigerians for believing in the democratic process, adding that “by this election, Nigerians have shown that Democracy has come to stay in the country”. The governor said, “I salute Nigerians, especially the great people of Ekiti State. “I salute President Jonathan for laying the most solid foundation for democracy in Nigeria. And I salute Major General Buhari for being a resilience and dogged fighter. “I urge Nigerians, irrespective of their ethic, religious and political affiliation to respect the outcome of the election in the interest of peace, progress and development of the country. “Nigeria as a country is greater than any individual or group and it is my plea that no one should do anything to rock the boat of peace in the country.http://www.premiumtimesng.com/news/top-news/180357-nigeriadecides-fayose-praises-buhari-urges-nigerians-to-accept-election-results.html |

INEC's team probes alleged irregularities in Rivers polls The Independent National Electoral Commission has set up a three-man committee to investigate alleged irregularities in the polls conducted in Rivers State on Saturday. The committee has as its Head, Mrs. Thelma Iremirem, who is the Supervisory National Commissioner for Rivers; and Col. M.K Hammanga along with Prof. Lai Olurode, as members. A statement by the Secretary to the commission, Augusta Ogakwu, at the National Collation Centre for the Presidential Election in Abuja on Monday, was necessitated by the call for the cancellation of the elections in the state by the All Progressives Congress. Ogakwu said members of the committee had left for a fact-finding mission to the state and were expected to submit their report before the end of collation of results of other states and the Federal Capital Territory. She said the commission would subsequently make its decision known after receiving the report of the fact-finding committee.
