Press: Oga Jonathan what can you say about corruption allegations being played against your administration? Jonathan: Em em em .... am still observing the situation, I will give answer later. |
More trouble has continued to come the way of the Director of Finance of former President Goodluck Jonathan’s Presidential Campaign Organisation, Senator Esther Nenadi Usman, over the role she played in the disbursement of huge public cash to state chapters of the Peoples Democratic Party in the Northeast ahead of the poll. Nenadi Usman The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, Wednesday, subjected Mrs. Usman to many hours of grilling, demanding to know from her, how the N23 billion, which the former Petroleum Minister, Mrs. Diezani Alison Madueke, made available to her to disburse to PDP faithful to influence the outcome of the 2015 presidential election in favour of its presidential candidate, was shared. The questioning of Usman, which took place at the Gombe Zonal Office of EFCC, was the first in relation to the sharing of the N23 billion from the former oil minister, was her first in the Northeast office but one of many to the EFCC in recent times. Usman, who is standing trial for receiving another N4.2 billion from the Office of the National Security Adviser and disbursing same to top PDP politicians, including Femi Fani-Kayode, reportedly told interrogators that she did not know that the money she was asked to share to PDP bigwigs, came from the National treasury. She told interrogators that the list and the formula for sharing the cash was given to her by Diezani and that there was no way she could have refused to do the job given the fact that she was a loyal party official. Usman admitted taking instructions from Diezani on how to share the cash meant for the six states in the Northeast states of Gombe, Borno, Taraba, Adamawa, Bauchi and Yobe. http://www.vanguardngr.com/2016/08/shared-n23-b-diezani-poll-cash-sen-nenadi-usman-tells-efcc/ |
United States government has listed 20 of Nigeria’s 36 states as unsafe and asked its citizens living in the country to stay away from them. Among the 20, it cited Borno, Adamawa and Yobe as a complete no-go area as “the ability of the US Mission to provide assistance to US citizens” in those states remains severely limited. Members of the Boko Haram Islamic sect recently renewed attackes in Borno State, while Fulani herdsmen have scaled up killing of villagers and farmers in Adamawa State. The travel warning, published on Wednesday, replaced an earlier one dated February 5, 2016. In addition to the three frontline states, the Department of State also “recommends against all but essential travel to the following states due to the risk of kidnappings, robberies, and other armed attacks: Bauchi, Bayelsa, Delta, Edo, Gombe, Imo, Jigawa, Kaduna, Kano, Katsina, Kebbi, Kogi, Niger, Plateau, Rivers, Sokoto, and Zamfara. “The Department also warns against travel in the Gulf of Guinea, because of the threat of piracy” the advisory published online added. It added that based on safety and security risk assessments, the embassy maintains restrictions for travel by U.S. officials to the states listed above; officials must receive advance clearance by the U.S. Mission for any travel to those states. The statement particularly urged vigilance around government security facilities; churches, mosques, and other places of worship; locations where large crowds may gather, such as hotels, clubs, bars, restaurants, markets, shopping malls; and other areas frequented by expatriates and foreign travelers. “Security measures in Nigeria remain heightened due to threats posed by extremist groups, and U.S. citizens may encounter police and military checkpoints, additional security, and possible road blocks throughout the country. “Hundreds of thousands of Nigerians have been displaced as a result of violence in the north.” The State Department noted that kidnappings remained a security concern throughout Nigeria, as criminal elements across the country orchestrated kidnappings for ransom; Islamic extremists, operating predominantly in the North, also have been known to conduct kidnappings. Criminals or militants have abducted foreign nationals, including U.S. citizens, from off-shore and land-based oil facilities, residential compounds, airports, and public roadways. “Separatist groups have staged demonstrations in Abia, Anambra, Bayelsa, Delta, Enugu, Imo, Lagos, and Rivers states, some of which have turned violent. “Militant groups have destroyed oil production infrastructure in Bayelsa and Delta states. “U.S citizens are advised to avoid the areas of these states where these incidents have occurred. “Attacks by pirates off the coast of Nigeria in the Gulf of Guinea have increased substantially in recent years. “Armed gangs have boarded both commercial and private vessels to rob travelers. “The Nigerian Navy has limited capacity to respond to criminal acts at sea,” it concluded. http://tribuneonlineng.com/us-declares-20-nigerian-states-unsafe/ |
Desciples of Ponmo cutting governor, How market? |
In a development with significant political implications, Nigeria’s First Lady Aisha Buhari on Wednesday evening arrived in Washington DC on a weeklong visit. She is billed to attend a number of events in the area. Sources at the Nigerian Embassy in Washington DC said Mrs. Buhari arrived on a British Airways flight from London. Her visit is of tremendous interest in Nigeria where Ekiti State governor Ayodele Fayose alleged in June that Mrs. Buhari was involved in the infamous Halliburton scandal, and is the “Aisha Buhari” mentioned in related court documents. Our investigations show that there is no “Aisha Buhari” mentioned in the Halliburton scandal. However, there is one mentioned in the case of former United States congressman William Jefferson, who was convicted on corruption charges in 2009, and to whom “Aisha Buhari” wired the sum of $170,000. It is to that matter the governor mistakenly appears to allude. On several occasions, Governor Fayose asserted that Mrs. Buhari could not enter the US, suggesting she would be arrested, a bluff she has now called. Investigations by SaharaReporters and the New York Times have categorically stated that the Aisha Buhari mentioned in the court document in reference is not President Buhari's wife. Nonetheless, Mrs. Buhari has sued Governor Fayose concerning his allegations. According to an official invitation letter to her, obtained by SaharaReporters, Mrs. Buhari was expected to have arrived in the United Stastes two days ago, but was held back by official delays in Nigeria. Among others, she is expected during her visit to attend meetings at the George Mason University in Fairfax, Virginia. She will also be hosted by the United States Institute of Peace, in collaboration with Voice of America, and attend the 25th Anniversary celebration of Zumunta Association USA Inc. |

To say the fact, the contestants have really tried to justify their stance with cogent points despite the difficultness of the side of argument they found themself, because ordinarily to convince we youth of today that social media should be censored is not easy. But, wait oo... where are these Akokites? Hope they would not come and cause e-riot on nairaland when they are awake from their sleep. |
Make I quickly make ma own contribution #Babawhileyouweregone, Dumbomaster (Jonah) said Chibok girls will be recovered (not rescued) and that there is no plan to kill the girls. #Babawhileyouweregone, Those PDP guys suffering from mouth diarrhea (FFK, Fayose, PIG (PEG)) did not take their drug so their conditions became critical but I'm sure that now that you are back they will start to take their drugs. #Babawhileyouweregone, Lagos became FCT and our popular Cheif Maga gave SW obas and Lagos guys dollars thinking they can still be deceived. #Neveragainshallwesupportcluelessness |
Descartes:Yes, I am proudly a muslim. |
Descartes:NO, nd why are you asking? |
Descartes:NO! |
Descartes:So, does that mean those that are killing one another and burning party secretariats in the south are muslims too. Pls, don't just attack other peoples' religion with your myopic thoughts. |
Descartes:Sometimes I wonder why there is no age restriction on the use of Nairaland. Because some peoples' comment usually shows how immature they are. What concern religion with political violence? or, Do all northerners belong to one religion?. Guy, my advice to you is that you should always think before you make comment on any topic of discussion. |
“We are going back to those good days when we had vision. We have plan for agriculture, we have plan for industry, we have plan for automobile and many other areas. “If you have a vision, any proposal that comes in, no matter how good they are, must fall into your vision for it to go through. With your prayers, surely as a nation, we will get to where our vision will take us to. “Having passed through school and being in government for quite some time, I have realised that for you to achieve anything, you must have a clear vision. - GEJ 2015 --------------------------- Its only today I agree with different names (clueless, vissionless, scenseless.....) you were being called. By the way, did I just hear you saying you are going back to the past when things were normal? Don't worry again, one of your aids has already said Buhari will take us back to 1985 when things were normal. So, dt vission of yours is no more needed or it may still be usefull in Otuoke. |
