You dont know the degradation and the risks we bear in our communities.

Look at Ogoni for instance, to clean up the mess by Shell requires billions if dollars..google Ogoni UNEP report.

You really dnt know the sufferings we go through.

And sincerely, some of us are super qualified.
i completely understand! But, you need to understand that the recruitment process would not be waived for every individual from these areas who wish to join Shell. These companies are not charity organisations; they're there to maximize profits. Besides, a portion of their profits also go to CSR...

I know of some SWesterners that were employed by Shell last week.i agree we are all Nigerians but those of us from oil bearing communities feel the brunt whenever their is fault with their pipelines or instruments and should be duly employed. This biased recruitment trend doesnt seem like it will abate soon..

Very pathetic.
so, in your sanctimonious mind, those individuals from the southwest were not qualified abi...?
Oga, unfortunately, no be your papa get the company; or better still, start your own coy and employ all your village people, their qualifications notwithstanding.
Nonsense!

opobo and bonny has ijaws but it also has some igbo elements in them.
exactly! Those are igbo settlements with ijaw elements. People from the riverine ijaw communities bordering these towns often ventured into these places to trade. Eventually, a significant number of them fell in love with the place and decided to stay behind.
Culture / Re: Some Old Pictures Of Nigerian Ethnic Groups And People by fastestfinger: 4:10pm On Nov 04, 2015
OP Nice work.
You need to effect this little correction in your writeup, lest you indvertently mis-inform readers:
Opobo was founded by king jaja(an igboman).however, ijaw IMMIGRANTS who were mainly porters and tradesmen were allowed to reside there owing to the kings' magnanimity.
Hence, from the foregoing, it would not be out of place to say Opobo and by extension Bonny are igbo settlements.

A HEARTFELT THANK YOU TO MY ABLE BROTHERS FOR PUTTING THESE PETTY THIEVES IN THEIR PLACE.we focused too much on the external aggressors for too long, taking for granted these criminals nipping away at our territories and deliberately distorting the history of our people.
Ijaws, our eyes are on you guys now.No more igboland for you to steal.we are gonna put a permanent stop to your expansionist tendencies.
I cringe any time i recall how easily we could've gone into alliance with these snake.Thank God it never happened.

I agree totally...the idea of me trusting someone, and then having that same individual stab me in the back is one i do not wish to entertain.
These minorities should be the ones reaching out to us, rather than the other way round...the earlier they convince themselves that they have a lot to gain by identifying with the greater igbo nation, the better for them.the era of endlessly appealing to them on the soundness and inherent benefit of identifying with our cause is over.
They need to come to that place of conviction by themselves.

Let me start by asserting my yorubaness, if there is any word like that, my username says a lot about who i am and if you prefer you can check my profile. Firstly i will like to point out that what dialogue has not achieved war can never never get it done. What Mr Kwankwaso suggested in his presentation is the best solution to the situation we have found ourselves today. I belong to a society (THE INNER CIRCLE) in my university days in ibadan and our creed is "by chance u are made brothers but by choice u make friends" we are here in this geographic entity Nigeria and it is our choice to make it work. Within a family there are several variations of the same genetic composition and hence no two individuals behave the same way. Can we then go ahead to do a forensic analysis of the peace or otherwise that exist within the family. The most apropriate answer is compromise. How this is then achieved can best be attributed to education. Let me take the issue of peace. The man has thru education both formal or otherwise realize that the other man is his other half and the best thing to do is to accept him with both flaws and otherwise. In the case of the other side of peace, thru education both formal or informal he has taken a stand that maybe detrimental to the society and that is his belief except something very concrete is done to correct this. Now going back to Mr Fani Kayodes fanning of war to correct the excess of the fulani cattle rearers, does 2 wrongs make a right, has war ever ever settle any dispute, please observe the recent uprising about Biafra. With war u only conquer people but you dont change thier passion and passion is like a festering wound it will be there for ever. Its quite easy to fan the embers of war on the pages of newspaper but the consequencies is more devastating than what one can ever thought of. Serving as a youth corper in old Imo state in 1990 the impact of 1966-1970 civil war was still very evident. Yoruba has a saying "eni ija oba lonperae lokurin" translated literarily means its you thst have not seen war that clamours for it. If i may ask where was Mr Fani Kayode during the civil war, i bet he was well tucked away safe inthe UK. What he is insinuating now, if paraventure happens, he has visas for family and most especially his beautiful girlfriend with wish he elopes to a safe haven. Who bears d brunt? We the defenseless citizen. Secondly, he made reference to chief Olu Falaes kidnap. I am so glad that the perpetrators have been arrested and they all attested to the greed that fanned thier criminal intentions. I want to ask are there no criminals worse than this from other part of the country? From tnier confession they never knew who thier abductee was. It was thier greed that propelled them to carry pitthier nefarious activity. Now let us critically asses the root cause of all this kidnapping, cultisim, armed robbrey etc. Is it not because of the unnessary flouting of wealth by people who are suppose to set good example. How can one explain the unsatiable splash of Range Rover sport by an elderly man who is above 50 on a girl that is less than 30. How do you expect her peers who has just graduated from schools to think. You can not ever ever sow maize qnd expect to reap cassave. What you have sown shall ye reap. Billions of naira pillfered away by our leaders Mr Kayode inclusive could so well have bought Nigerian youths education that can make us distinguish between right and wrong. Now coming to the fulani herdsmen problem, i will lay a substantial blame to thier leaders in the north who instead of giving them education has preferred to retain the almajiri culture, but can we the yorubas blame God for situating us in this entity called Nigeria. No, its not by our choice but what can we do? With education and understanding we can peacefully coexist. I watched a documentary about cattle rearing in kenya where the cattle are reared on barley planted on virtual soil. This may sound so difficult but is achieveable. I am so sure what mrkwankwso istalking about is education that will foster a peaceful coexistence of Nigerian
Guy,abeg save this your unnecessary epistle cos no one is going to read it.you just expended THE GRAMMAR THAT WOULD HAVE BEEN USED IN WRITING 2 PHILOSOPHY PAPERS on a very straightforward issue(kwankwaso insulting yorubas ontop yorubaland).

Thank you very much. But this is coming late as usual. The same approach should have been used in the last election. Where what Buhari needed from the SE was just an audience and a little bit of support. But the paid goons who called themselves Igbo leaders blew that opportunity to the wind. Even if there was a general consensus to vote GEJ, Ndigbo should have kept it to themselves rather than come out in the open to give useless endorsements.Ndigbo were foolish enough to carry Jonathan's presidencial ambition on their head, even when obvious he wasn't Igbo.

My verdict is that: Ndiigbo in Rivers should boycott this Rivers re run election, since neither Wike nor The APC is on the same page with us.

We play it cool, and congratulate the winner between Wike and APC, but giving Wike a bloc vote we must avoid, so that when he loses, we wouldn't be bearing the cross of someone who isn't actually with us to start with.
We must not be seen as enemies of APC in Rivers state, and we must not be seen as support base of Wike.

We play it neutral in Rivers state. No open endorsement of any candidate by any Igbo group. If you must vote, do so individually.
l just love this guy!

Some of my brother here have never contested for landed property before, obviously. haha.
How can you EVEN THINK of ceding what history says that you own?
If you cede what history says that you own, why would your opponent allow you to own anything?
Once you show that thoughtless concession, you lose respect and your opponent sees you as ready meat for taking.
Nna did anybody actually think this proposal through at all?
Nigeria is bad o, but I don't think it is bad enough for me to sell my father's lands including the "ime obi" land.
Concession on land is a slippery slope; concede one, you concede all!

Honestly I respect Yoruba on this type of thing.

Yoruba took effective charge of Lagos (whether Awori and Egun) claim Yoruba or not.
I sometimes don't understand Igbo kind of weak thinking.

Anyway, let me assume that the proposal will never see the light of day.
