Can you share examples of big and not big profiles?
Below are big profiles.

Not so big profiles are what you see almost everyday in property section.

Thanks sir.
0.45 gauge from Tower or First Aluminium in Lagos.
0.45mm for long span is between 1,050-1,200 naira

0.45mm Metcoppo is 1400-1500 naira.

Big Profile is my thing. Some people are just too ordinary. And if we talk too much it is "packaging"

Why must all houses do "anko" "egbejoda". The same design everywhere.
I hate to have what others have. I go extra miles to have my things different from others. All the people who know me can testify to this.

Mr Brabus, talking about Aluminium windows, there are different Aluminium profile which has different prices, we have imported Aluminium, tower Eco and tower standard which is expensive than others, you can have your windows either sliding or swing, since imported profiles now comes in good and quality product ,people now opt for it as well. Its just that swing windows allows a lot of ventilation than the sliding windows as ventilation comes from one side leaving the other side shut..
For me, I don't like swing windows a bit. I prefer sliding windows. I like sliding windows that can be opened on both the left and right sides.

About aluminium profile, I hardly see big profiles used in Nigeria. By the way, which imported aluminium profile is the best in the market?

When I visited the site a month after I left the project and observed some things, I informed the client in the chat message attached.
Going by the answers you provided, it is fair to say you failed to discharge your duties as expected. You have to humble yourself and admit that you failed in your supervision job to have had cement paper loaded in the lintel and having some pillars not adequately filled to the maximum level.

From the pictures you have provided, I won't say the job you did was all bad. I wouldn't say that. The pictures you countered with showed you did 80% of the work right if not more. How can you show good sides of the job you did and claim the bad ones were not done by you?

In this life, you don't have to claim you are right all the time. Sometimes, you have to humble yourself and admit your shortcomings so that things don't get out of hand. If you had done that all these while with Maverick, bringing this problem to the forum wouldn't have happened. Nobody is 100% perfect, try to admit culpability on this project and move on.

N.B
The BB conversation made no reference to the problems maverick brought to the forum.

At foundation stage, it was a contract prepared by the owner based on NextHome estimate. The contract stopped at the Sandfilling of the house. All materials after Sandfilling were supplied by the owner. I only took up the role of supervision afterwards up to slab level.

I got disengaged completely from the project at the completion of the slab. There are records.
Let me and the forum get this straight because your submission wasn't cleared.

Please, answer the following questions:

1. Did you just tell me your contract and work ended at the foundation level?

2. Who did the German floor?

3. Who did the block setting and pillars/columns after German floor level?

4. Who did the lintel work?

5. Who did the block settings after lintel work?

6. Who did the decking?

Please, answer these six questions and let everyone make their judgments.

@brabus,

Who built the house from foundation level to deking stage? At what stage your service was engaged and at what stage your service was no more needed?

Question for Oga Spyder or any other person that may care to share.

One of the ways that I've been able to accomplish so much with so little is that I'm serving as the General Contracor on my build and saving the third party expense.

I'm approaching the German floor phase of my build. The most expensive single line item is granite.

Being that I'm physically available, have the time and opportunity, what is the best way to go about reducing the cost?

Can I go to the quarry myself of do I need to be a registered member of some specific association?

Can I rent a truck with a driver? How much is this?

Will my ploy of after being armed with the bill of lading (I'm assuming it will be date/time stamped) and driving behind the truck from quarry to site remove any chance of nefarious activity?

Thanks.

PS: I can see a quarry that is about 10 miles from my site on Google map.
grin grin grin grin grin

Oga me sir, how much savings are we looking at if you go through all these stress? 10k, 15k?

Do you really think these people in this business line make a lot of money? By the time you know the full length of stress they go through and end up with profit of 5k-8k, you won't even bother to go through the stress.

Let the people in this line give you what you want. They have the license to lift granite from quarry while you don't.

Do you deliver to Elebu or know who does? I need a quote for 60 tons of 3/4 down delivered.
The guy (Xzevian) is the best in this business that I know. He has delivered me 120 tons of granite and stone dust combined in the last one year. I know for a fact that someone delivered me 20 tons before in place of 30 tons. It is very difficult to see granite dealers who tells the truth but Xzevian is trustworthy. This guy won't cheat you.

I recommend him 100%.

The driveway came as desired. The picture posted is not a finished work. It's still a work in progress. Im already speaking with some guys who are very good in epoxy floors to see what I'm trying to achieve and what needs to be done. I never wanted to have a finished floor using sand and cement. The picture idea I took off the net was not finished with sand and cement (concrete). They added some additives.

Also I didn't use sand, stone dust and cement mix. It was pure stone dust for the driveway and I used sand in other areas.
Why doing it over and over again if you already got the desired outcome?

Well, I know from the picture you took off the internet was made with concrete, stone dust and cement. No other materials added. The tools and ways they go here to get to fine finish is not the same way we also use in Nigeria.

Fine finish? Will it be better than using sand? What are the pros and cons of using both?

I've used both on my driveway and I can tell you if I have to do it over again in an area where there's heavy traffic, I'll use sand again and again.

Reasons:

* Stability and Workability
* Sand did not move under excessive rain or when the area is subjected to flooding.
* Dust did excellently well on my DPC but not on my driveway.
In your own case, your driveway didn't come out as you desired because of the ratio of sand to granite and the amount of water used. By looking at your driveway, the concrete had too much water in it. It should be damp while the mixture for yours was too wet.

The picture idea you took off the internet for your driveway was different from what you had for your own driveway because of few factors. Like in the U.S, I always see that the ratio of stone dust to granite is different from ratio we use in Nigeria. Here, they use same amount of sand to granite for a bag of cement with a lot less water. That ratio gives you fine finish because it is easy to cast on the floor. In Nigeria, we use more granite than sand which makes good finish impossible. Also, you did not use concrete tools that that were used for the picture you took off the internet. Here, we have professionals who deal in concrete ONLY. They are not the same bricklayers we use in Nigeria who deal in block settings, plastering, concrete and others.

make sure its 3/4 not 3/4 down most buoilders don't like 3/4 as this is larger but suppliers like this as cheaper.
Why not 3/4 down? Why 3/4? The outcome of 3/4 down is always more refined than 3/4.

I prefer 3/4 down to 3/4 anytime any day for flooring, pillars/columns and lots of other usage. In the U.S, engineers make use of the 3/4 down a lot more than 3/4 granite. I am a witness to this because I have them working less than 200 meter from my house at the moment that I see on daily basis.

. Nigerians are quick to condemn their citizens whether old or young, look at the frontrunners in the US polls: Ben Carson64, Donald Trump69 & Hillary Clinton67. Have you heard the Americans base their campaigns on age but what each candidate has to offer. Politics is not by compulsion and if the 40s & 50s cannot rival the 60s then no one should be blamed. Imagine all the governors we had in their 40s in 1999 what were their landmarks that could propel them to higher offices NONE
God bless you.

Why don't you buy a nomination form for a 34-40 year old of your choice and fund his campaign to become president? Nobody can force any young man to contest. If you want to serve, go ahead and contest and not all this rubbish talk of "not giving younger ones a chance".

Ronald Reagan was 69 when he was elected.
Clinton is in her 60s running for office
Bernie Sanders is 75
Trump is in his 60s too

It is not about the age.
Don't mind them. They want a 30 year old to be installed as President in Nigeria; not voted for. Bunch of know nothing kids.

Between, Trump is turning 70 in few months.

I'm looking forward to seeing the architecture over there. I heard that theres lot of traditional european buildings.
European architecture is a lot common in Savannah part of Georgia. One of the most beautiful cities in the U.S. I am not too in tune with the set up in Atlanta area except for few suburbs close to Atlanta (Lawrenceville, Cummings, Dacula, Peach Tree, Suwanee, Alpharetta).

I promise, you won't be too impressed with Atlanta.
