Try to make it secured. |

Please if you are well informed on this topic, can you suggest the answer here? I am in a fix between the two. |
On further thought, I realized that if awe all run from the 'bad' police force, who are the technocrats that will occupy it? Who will we blame if our security which is of utmost importance is left in jeopardy as it has been since independence? In the so-called 20 best economies, highly intelligent people seek to develop careers in the force. Something tells me its time for Nigerians to emulate that. Like I said, I can be the IGP or DIG. Is that too much? |
I got irritated yesterday when I realized that this year's police recruitment for graduates require buying scratch card for N1000. Dont get me wrong, the money is not too much. Personally speaking, I wont join the Nigerian Police for any reason except if I'm to be the IGP or DIG. However it is wrong for graduates or any other category of candidates to be made to pay before volunteering to serve their Nation. Last year, they made so much money from the sale of employment scratch cards that it generated severe public controversy. |
dafidixone:Dont ever suggest I do not know the meaning of marriage. Atleast I'm enjoying one. In my analogy, I stated how the lady was manipulated into AGGREEING to marry him (the manipulator). There was first an agreement and then a marriage. But she claimed some years later that she wasnt 'in herself' when she entered it. These are people known to me. |
It is on most newspapers this morning. The sudden U-Turn of Yaradua: Is it a sign of weakness ( Not being able to stand by what he believes and decides) Or sign of strength (Responding to the popular view)? COMMENT, |
Lady, I really like ur response. |
The ideas for most movies are gotten from real life issues and happenings. That is what makes them interesting and relevant. This particular incidence happened BEHIND my house then. |

Response please, I am delivering a speech on this topic. Your response would concretize my Speech. |
The Lady in that story packed her belongings and terminated the illicit marriage. So is that the right thing? Where is the place of forgiveness? Wasnt Jesus KILLED yet forgave them? Is this issue more than death. |
The viewpoint of the pastor was that he will place the blame at the doorpost of the Lady. He said she wasnt save and therefore not safe from the guy's or any other satanic manipulation. It sounds cool. Isnt it? |
I was a student of a Bible Institute when a Senior Pastor who was our Instructor stated that any marriage no matter how it started is recognized before God. I then asked about one that happened somewhere behind where I was living then that a young desperate man used strange powers to manipulate a very pretty (local champion) Lady into agreeing to marry him. After a few years, the Lady woke up one morning to recover her consciousness. She couldnt believe she had been living with him those years. What actually happened was that the guy forgot to perform a routine sacrifice to preserve and revive the charm. |
@ LAST POSTER, I work on Lagos Island. Maybe I can help correct any wrong view you have about Nigeria. GUD PEOPLE, GR8 NATION! |
Have you considered how unimaginably busy people like Adeboye are? These are people make direct influence on millions of people on a weekly basis. They impact more lives and are more popular than the presidents of their countries. Their presidents cruise in jets while they queue at international airports. Its not fair. These great men are booked in 3years and more. I.e If you check their dairies, they have booked almost every available time for programmes which entail lots of travels beyond the Nigerian shores. I am highly elated that Adeboye finally agreed to buy a real jet. Nobody talked when he repeatedly complained about the physical harassment repeatedly meted on him whenever he travelled, at a time, they had to search him to the privates, drilled him with questions and other dehumanizing acts. It was on the media. With a jet, you dont need to say too much. Can you imagine that the Ministry of Tourism recently released a report that the greater percentage of tourists to Nigeria are 'Religeous Tourists' that is, they come here to receive divine visitation-- to be blessed by men of God like Adeboye. In other words, Nigeria receives income on their influences. |
A private jet was made by humans for humans. There is a level an individual or organization will reach that a particular means of transportation will become inevitable. At a certain point in any endeavour, a car is a MUST, then, getting it wont be a luxury but a necessity. After that phase passes due to higher progress, owning and maintaining a jet wont be a luxury but a necessity. |
reality4us:This guy I quoted is more INTELLIGENT than the so-called Nigerian professor who critisized Adeboye for buying an ordinary jet. |
I am surprised that another website that looks exactly like Nairalist which happens to be called [nairalist+s] [exists]. Why on earth should some-one nest his own idea under the shadow of another person's idea? Why can't they form theirs using a totaly different name to create their unique brand? After browsing through that (counterfeit?) site, I came to terms with the fact that there are some feautures that it possesses that the real one doesnt have. 1. Nairalist seem to carry the philosophy of Nairaland. Its like a mordified and simplified Nairaland. Whereas [nairalist+s] carries the Nigerian spirit. It bears our National Flag. Can you imagine? 2. Another issue is that the real Nairalist covers the states of nigeria while the counterfeit site (Niralists) covers Africa. These are just 2 of my observations. I am placing them here so that the webmasters (whoever they are) can look into them and try to put them into consideration. |
SapeleGuy:MR POSTER, THE REASON NIGERIAN STUDENTS FAILED WAEC IS BECAUSE THEY DID NOT PREPARE PROPERLY. NOT BECAUSE PROF DORA WANTS TO REBRAND OR BECAUSE OF YARADUA'S FAULT. YES, WE AGREE THAT THE EDUCATION SECTOR SHOULD BE MADE ATTRACTIVE FOR HIGHLY QUALIFIED PEOPLE TO BECOME TEACHERS, YET EVERYONE KNOWS THAT A STUDENT DETRMINED TO MAKE O-LEVEL WILL MAKE IT NO MATTER WHAT. SOME OF US WROTE IT FROM VILLAGES YET MADE THE NECESSARY 6 CREDITS. HOW CAN YOU RECONCILE THE FACT THAT MOST STUDENTS NOW RELY ON EXAM MALPRACTICES TO SCALE THROUGH WITH THE BILLIONS OF NAIRA INJECTED INTO THAT SECTOR ANNUALLY? REBRANDING IS THE KEY THAT WILL INSTILL SELF-RELIANCE AND CONFIDENCE IN THEM AND THEIR NATION. IF THEY DON'T BELIEVE IN THEMSELVES OR THEIR NATION, THEY WONT READ TO PASS. |
jacobs123:Nigeria is actually a product- a product of our collective actions, Nigeria is a company- a company of good people who still remain one despite all the horrors we have been through. Your question as to what the banks' CNN advert did for them, my answer is A LOT! How many of our banks are listed on the london stock? Atleast I know of 2 (GTBank and Intercntal) You cant achieve that feat being in the dark despite an effective management in place. I promise those of you naysayers, YOU WILL BE SILENCED very soon. |
I happen to have co-founded a Brand consulting firm with my wife before we married in May 2008. The most striking aspect of Branding or Rebranding is that the human nature acts and reacts first to brands. This was what informed the saying FIRST IMPRESSION LASTS LONGER and YOU ARE ADDRESSED THE WAY YOU DRESS. There is a way that shit can be branded (packaging, etc) that it will sell like hotcake. An author once wrote a book and it didnt sell. Then he changed the back cover and it became a bestseller. What Dora is trying to do is to change the back cover of Nigeria. To do this, huge amounts are not required. This is the reason I personally want to be involved in the rebranding project of Dora. There are several brand tactics that will not cost the govt a dime to implement. Money answers all things but it is not all things that answers money. Do I make sense? |
In the time of Frank Uweke, he used several millions of tax-payer fund to travel abroad to lodge in expensive hotels around the globe saying he was branding Nigeria's image. Today, a woman who has protected us and our children from fake drugs has come to protect the entire Nation from an evil image stamped on us by few individuals who looted our money abroad and who looted foreigners online. Those devils among us whose corrupt businesses she had folded in the past are leading a massive campaign of calumny against her. To them, its payback time for her. Then one ignorant Nairalander who managed to escape to the USA or another who sits in front of computer here wants to crucify Dora. May God forgive you all. |
I have reserved my comments since this thread started simply because deep inside my heart, I weep for the youths of this country who cannot see beyond the past. How can we come to nairaland to criticize Akunyili's project when we do not fully understand the new approach she is introducing into giving Nigeria a great Identity? |
There is nothing that is not possible. Anything that is small enough to enter your mind is small enough to enter your hand. I desire several high-profile projects to be achieved in Nigeria. The government cannot provide everything for the masses. The only thing it needs to do is to provide the framework or better put platform where investors and crazy dreamers like me can foist their dreams to reality. I know a wretched brigde buit in 1973 thereabout before I was born in Kogi state. All I need is the governor's approval to build a world-class suspension bridge and mount tolls to recoup my investments over 10-15 years. But this gov is not like Fashola. |
@ Mustafar, Everyone else Sorry for that mistake However dubai doesnt have to be in Africa for Nigeria to achieve such giant strides. Besides, this Eko Atlantic is a 'small' project compared with what is going on in other small Nations in our economic cadre.
|
I dont know why many Nigerians have narrow minds. Is it not in Dubai an african city that the tallest building on earth is been built? Because of such giant developments, foremost world firms are relocating from america to dubai. A good example is Halliburton.
