Travel / 26 Year Old Nigerian Killed By Thai Police by fatherab1: 11:54am On Jun 23, 2012
The name of this police officer is warra****.
The video footage and testimony from his Thai neighbors showed that the boy was intentionally killed. (youtube.com/dumuster) the most annoying part of the whole thing is that all his vital organs were removed even before he died.

I wish to once more remind you that there are well over 7000 Thai citizens living in Nigeria yet nothing happens to them.

Now the question is why should innocent Nigerian here in Thailand be killed with impunity? The police officer in question has been reported to different police stations here in Thailand but its alleged the orders are from Thai prime minister to intimidate, torture and imprison Nigerians.

Nevertheless, I think it’s high time our citizens in Diaspora are protected lest we send a powerful signal to Nigeria to take revenge on Thais living in Nigeria. More so, more than 60 percent of Nigerian inmates here in Thailand were set up by this police officer called Warra****,he used to deposit a pocket able quantity of drugs on Nigerians, put them in prison if the victims refuse to pay a ransom which starts from 10,000 to 30,000 United states dollars It will be wise if Nigeria can send a high power delegation to visit our inmates here and that will afford them more opportunity to unveil more atrocities committed by this evil man called Warra****.

Finally, I hope The Nations newspapers will quickly publicize this information and wish Nigerian Government will urgently come to the rescue of Nigerians abroad.

Politics / Open Letter To Mr President by fatherab1: 5:02pm On Jun 13, 2012
Written by Segun Shokoya:

Dear President Jonathan,

My friends call me Sokii, but you, well just call me Segun. I have watched you in the last one year jump from pillar to post under the pretext of governance; clinging to the inconsequential and deliberately ignoring that which the times demand of governance in today’s Nigeria. From the moment you were sworn in as an elected president, it’s been a galore of gaffes and conscious distraction of Nigerians from the things that actually do matter to them. Within weeks of your Presidency, your first executive move was to amend the constitution so as to allow for president and governors to serve just one term of six years in office. Not sooner than the dust raised by that move settled, you declared an economic war on the Nigerian people with an imposition of fuel tax, called fuel subsidy removal, which was just a way designed for you to avoid confronting your friends and officials who defrauded the country you preside over.

Mr President, you may recall that last October, during a church service to commemorate Nigeria’s Independence Day, you lamented that we condemn you at home while Obama commends you abroad. Even then, we argued that Obama’s commendation of you – whatever it was meant to achieve – was ill-timed and ill-informed. We reasoned that we were the ones who elected you our president and so were best qualified to assess your performance in office. Today, the table has turned. Does Obama still commend you? Just in case you haven’t heard, the United States government has seen you for whom you are – a president who presides over a criminal empire without making any meaningful efforts to curtail corruption. Before you dismiss my message as another baseless rant from a disgruntled opposition member, kindly read this, Sir:

In its year 2011 report on global human rights released Thursday by the State Department, the U.S. said the three tiers of the Nigerian government was ridden with “massive, widespread and pervasive corruption,” that failed to receive appropriate punitive response from the authorities. “The law provides criminal penalties for official corruption; however, the government did not implement the law effectively, and officials frequently engaged in corrupt practices with impunity,”the report, submitted by Secretary of States, Hillary Clinton, to the U.S. Congress said. “Massive, widespread, and pervasive corruption affected all levels of government and the security forces,” it continued. So this is what your government has come to be known for.

Still in that church service, Sir, you told Nigerians that God was the captain of the Nigerian ship. So I had expected you to show more than a passing interest in surrendering the fight against corruption to God. But I was surprised that when the rare opportunity came, last Sunday, during another church service – this time to commemorate your one year in office – you refused to support the man of God who pleaded that you and your administration officials took the fight against corruption to the alter of God. What were you afraid of, Mr President? That, Sir, speaks volumes about your sincerity in the corruption war. And that brings me to the role you played in the hurried moving of N155 billion out of our account under a questionable circumstance. It was done a day before Okonjo-Iweala resumed as your Finance Minister. And the characters involved in the transaction, the Etetes, is the reason I will need your explanation on this.

I will go straight to your Democracy Day speech. As expected, it could not boast of any visible achievement other than economic indices and statistics that were quite divorced from the stark realities on ground. You showed an amazing excitement when you announced your administration’s empowerment of 1200 youths who benefitted from your Youth Enterprise with Innovative Programme, YouWin. I was surprised that such was considered an achievement by you, Sir, let alone being included in your anniversary speech. Mr President, may I humbly inform you that 70 per cent of the Nigerian population is comprised of people who are thirty five years and below. Each year, Sir, the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) churns out at least 100 thousand young Nigerians who throng into the labour market in search of nonexistent jobs. This is in spite of the fact that a larger percent of those who passed out before them may not have gotten jobs. So why should we be excited about 1200 people in a population of 160 million? Is it a deliberate celebration of mediocrity or just an attempt to appear serious with the job we elected you to do?

In reference to electricity supply, you said, “By mid-2010, the national power output was about 2,800 MW. By the end of 2011, we reached a peak of more than 4, 000 MW. A National Gas Emergency Plan has also been launched to redress the problem of gas supply which are essentially due to poor planning.” Curiously, you didn’t tell us where we were by end of May, or mid-May, the period you were reeling out the achievements. So I ask now, Mr President, where are we on power generation? How many megawatts have we achieved between 2011 and mid-May, 2012? Where we are on electricity generation, Mr President, is on the region of total darkness. The wattage is negligible. Nauseating sound of generators still buzz in my neighbourhood daily, and darkness is the light in the villages where poverty even bites harder. That must be why you jumped it.

The efforts you put in advertising your cassava bread, if not tragic, would have been funny. You cannot re-write history, Sir. Cassava bread is not novel. Your constant efforts to lay claim to it as your achievement in office is worrisome. For the records, on 1st July, 2005, Obasanjo’s government made it mandatory for bakers to include 10% of cassava flour in the production of bread. I followed that administration closely. Yet even at that ,you cannot force people to eat what they do not want. Telling us you eat it makes no difference in our lives. Our billions are stolen by the day, anyway; and you watch without taking any punitive action against the criminals.

Your penchant for majoring in minor, if not entirely irrelevant issues, should worry every sound mind. Your change of Unilag to MKO Abiola University just by a presidential fiat betrayed your love for vanity; your lack of appreciation for substance. And as expected, it stirred up eruptions in the school. Yet rather than quickly reconsider your stand, you declared to many who think you made another gaffe; “no going back”. I know political expediency informed that decision. But unfortunately, that was politically incorrect. It has boomeranged, and will not shield you from the harsh verdict of your critics, which is that your first year in office as president was a total failure.

It was a shock to me that you ended your speech without making any mention of the fuel subsidy scam – the biggest in Nigeria’s history. You said nothing about your plans to prosecute the offenders. In case you don’t know, Mr President, the amount involved in that fraud is N2.6trillion, more than half of our annual budget. If that is not weighty enough to cause you to act, I wonder what will. I have a hunch some 19th century folks have been giving you lessons on how to rule Nigeria in 2012. They may have presented the IBB model and you bought it hook line and sinker. But that will be risky for you, Sir. Unfortunately, you are heading Nigeria at a time when there is only one way to face the task: fight corruption and shun patronage! You cannot do this job the way you want, or the way your predecessors handled it. The cumulative effect of the mess your predecessors put Nigeria into has saturated our landscape, forcing people to demand serious leadership from their president. Distractions will not just do. And you must understand this, Sir.

And talking about serious leadership; did you hear, Mr President, that Mrs. Joyce Banda, the President of Malawi – an African country – sold off her country’s presidential jet and fleet of 60 limousines? President Joyce declared that she was “happy to offload” the jet and the cars, and she would be traveling on passenger airplanes like every other citizen. Mrs. Joyce Banda understands basic economics and means well for her people. She appreciates the truth that a poor man who seeks future comfort must delay gratification. She is a living example of a serious leader. Can the same be said of you, Mr President? I will not wait for your response, Sir. I know it will never come. The same cannot be said of you. You do not mean well for Nigeria, Mr President. In 2010, you ordered 3 more presidential planes to increase an already over bloated fleet of presidential jets, underscoring your penchant for wasting public funds and downplaying the depth of poverty in our land.

You can’t mean well by having 10 presidential jets when the reality on ground demands that you travel with commercial planes. You can’t mean well with a feeding budget of almost 3 million naira per day in a country where 112 million people live on less than N300 (three hundred naira) per day. You can’t be seen to mean well with the number of cars in your presidential fleet. The British Prime Minister, who runs a civilization and economy that is light years ahead of yours, has no official jet.

You have effectively wasted the last one year, Mr President. And for a country with steady drop in life expectancy, we don’t have the luxury of time. We have the need for speed. We need a president who is ready to work, not distract us with an uninspiring campaign for cassava bread. We need Boko Haram’s onslaught on the Nigerian state to be addressed by your government. We need our people to be lifted out of poverty, not some phony statistics. We need leadership, not mediocrity. You, Mr President, have not been a leader in the last one year. But will you be in the remaining three years? I don’t think so. I only hope you prove me wrong.

Your body language tells me your eyes are fixed on 2015. But that is a tragedy on its own; for you maybe, not for me or Nigeria. Most of your moves are made with the intention of securing your seat in 2015. But I am also shocked that neither you nor your advisers understand that the surest way to winning re-election is to work and be seen to have worked. I will be glad to see you declare for re-election. The thoughts of having you as the first sitting president in Nigeria to be emphatically defeated excites me. Kindly follow your secret quest for re-election, Sir. I’d like to see the next sentiment your team will sell to the electorate.

You could see, Mr President, that I didn’t have time to pretend about the message I wanted to pass across. You already have enough praise singers to last you a lifetime. Pardon my directness, it was meant to deliver the message in a manner you will be stirred to act. Do have a great day, Sir. I hope the domestic staff will remember to not prepare imported rice for Sunday. Kindly remind them of your “resolve to always eat local rice”. Today should be for Abakaliki or Ofada. And lest I forget; happy anniversary, Mr President!

GEJ may mean well but the corruption in the power sector is above his reach. There are people who gain huge economic windfall from the comatose power situation in this country. Those powerful people are the owners of refineries outside the country which includes some of our past leaders who MUST frustrate any progressive move in this regard and GEJ is aware of this fact. Therefore it becomes ideal to continue the culture of heaping hope on the people while waiting to see how it all plays out.

The day you hear that the federal govt has made practical steps towards refining our crude oil within the country, then the real solution to fixing the power sector has begun in earnest. That is where our dear president should start from and not rhetoric like; road map, mega watts, national grid etc. Anything short of that is mere gimmick. Believe it or not.

Kobojunkie:

I disagree with the statement in bold. As it is, we import almost 98% of what we consume in the country. If we instead did business with other states, invested in IMPROVING OUR LOCAL LABOR FORCE, we would probably import less and increase export value, and in the end net worth. But since we seem to want the investments but spend little resources actually improving local labor and system, we end up exporting so much of our worth at the end of the day.

We need to take a toke from such countries like china that spent so much of its early developmental years educating and equipping its work force with skills to compete on the global level. Today that country ranks really high in the area of skills acquisition, education, and also manufacturing. None of that AUTOMAGICALLY happens.

Koboj, you are right except that Lagos is not just building the airport for feeding the other parts of Nigeria with consumer goods and products. On the issue of equipping the local labour force, that itself does not take place in isolation. On-job trainings gave chinese workers the skills you refered to. Dont forget that millions are waiting eagerly in the labour market
Politics / Has Jega Justified The Billions Collected? by fatherab1: 8:56pm On May 02, 2011
INEC's normal budget in 2011 is 45,393,833,865
(Source- http://www.budgetoffice.gov.ng/2011_budget/proposal_2011/change/48.%20Summary_INEC2.pdf)
But in addition to this, Jega the INEC Chair had appeared before Nigerians and the legislators to demand for Billions!!

First the Reputable INEC boss asked for N55Billion in July, 2010
(Source: http://234next.com/csp/cms/sites/Next/Home/5597615-146/inec_wants_55b_for_voters_register.csp)

Then in August, he increased it to N72Billion later N84Billion
(Check: http://www.tribune.com.ng/index.php/editorial/9433-inec-and-voters-registration)

Some other factors above him like extension of the Voters registration made an additional N6.6Billion a necessity.

So all in all, this election which has been tagged by some persons as the most costly election in the world has gulped over N100 Billion just from INEC.

The entire exercise was characterized with scores of explosions in ranging from Bayelsa to Maiduguri. Infact detonating a Bomb became like popping champaign.
The National Assembly election was almost truncated by the failure of some 'unexposed' contractors not meeting their contracts with nothing done against them. On one hand, some sections of the oppositions hailed the shift as a divine interventions, some political bigwigs were dissappointed. It was alleged in some quarters that among those who were bankrupted by the shift is Senator Omisore who was believed to have distributed about N1.5 Billion to thugs and party agents alike.

Dozens of persons died before, during and after the Elections. There were pockets of burning of houses in many places. Hi-tech riggings were carried out in some places in South-West, South-East, middle belt and even North as attested by many Foreign observers. Under aged voters in the North Voted for Buhari and Jonathan alike. Two women made history in the Southwest when they entered YouTube free of charge by simply Thumb-printing hundreds of ballot papers while the Corpers and security looked the other way.

Despite all these crookedness, by and large, the entire election has come and gone except for a knotty imo case.
Not being too hard or too soft on Jega and his INEC, do you think that the man has delivered himself and has escaped with his much talked about integrity?
Remember that a Serviving Senator Kanti bello was the one who first said 'JEGA HAS BEEN GIVEN BUNDLES OF ROPES TO HANG HIMSELF'. Do you genuinely think that Jega hung himself or he rather gave the ropes back to his critics?

2012 Candidate – Rick Santorum
by Election Supervisor on August 15, 2010 · 0 comments

in 2012 Candidates,Current Events

Richard “Rick” Santorum was born on May 10, 1958. He graduated from Penn State University in 1980 with a degree in political science before getting an MBA from the University of Pittsburgh in 1981. In 1986, Santorum received a law degree from Penn State Dickenson School of Law and settled in Pittsburgh to work for the firm of Kirkpatrick and Lockhart.

Santorum was elected to the U.S. House in 1990, at the age of only 32, after a tough race against a long term incumbent. He gained points by accusing his opponent of living outside the district most of the year, a charge that later came back to haunt him. While in Congress, he was part of the Gang of Seven that exposed the members of the House banking scandal and congressional corruption.

After 2 terms in Congress, Santorum ran for the Senate in 1994 and won. He was the author and key sponsor in 1996 of the Personal Responsibility and Work Opportunity Reconciliation Act, which implemented a welfare to work transition framework. He also actively supported key conservative stances on abortion, same-sex marriage, homosexuality, and privatization of government programs like Social Security. Santorum was very involved with the special legislation surrounding the Terry Schiavo case.

In 2000, Santorum ran for re-election and won, also capturing the position of Chairman of the Senate Republican Conference. In 2003, he generated a lot of publicity and controversy when he stated in an Associated Press interview that the Constitution does not grant the “right to privacy”, therefore the state has the right to legislate private behavior such as sexual acts, even between consenting adults. This was accompanied by anti-homosexual statements that garnered protest from the gay and lesbian community.

Santorum spoke out openly in favor of the War on Terror and against the spread of what he termed “Islamic fascism”, making it a key issue in his 2006 run for re-election. In June 2006, before the election, he stated that weapons of mass destruction had been found in Iraq, an assertion that the intelligence community and the White House quickly distanced themselves from by saying that the weapons were actually a 15 year old cache of buried and expired casings. Santorum lost his bid for a third term in the Senate by losing to Democrat Bob Casey Jr., who exploited Santorum’s living arrangements in the same way he exploited his opponent’s in 1990.

Santorum joined a law firm in March of 2007, focusing on client business and strategic counseling services. He is also a Senior Fellow with the Ethics and Public Policy Center in Washington, D.C. and contributes to Fox News Channel.

Santorum has been mentioned as a candidate for Governor of Pennsylvania in 2010 and has stated he is considering a run for the 2012 GOP presidential nomination. To bolster his profile and candidacy, he has an early October 2009 visit scheduled in Iowa with several political organizations.

What is the State of our Secretary of State?
by Blowhard on June 22, 2010 · 2 comments

in 2012 Candidates,2012 election,Barack Obama,Current Events,Democratic Party,Hillary Clinton,Liberal,Liberalism

After one and a half years into the most incompetent and corrupt Presidency in modern history, it is time to ponder the plans of our current Secretary of State. Ms. Clinton’s desire to be President is well known, and her appetite for power has clearly exceeded all other priorities in her life– including her self-respect and marriage. She is probably pleased, knowing the press that demonized her finally realize “their” candidate is completely incapable of the job to which they propelled him. The oil spill in the Gulf is like Katrina and 9/11 happening in slow motion and Obama is still absolutely clueless of how to respond after 2 months. He sent lawyers because that is the only response that a community organizer understands, aside from a vocal protest. And since the protest would have to be on water, only “the one” could attend– being the only one who can walk on said protest area. But I digress. Ms. Clinton still wants and plans on being the President. Right now she and her advisers are weighing making a run in 2012 or waiting until 2016 and running against the incumbent Republican. I say incumbent because Obama has little chance for re-election in 2012. His popularity falls on a monthly basis and his ability to give speeches about real world events versus pie-in-the-sky virtues is very limited, as his recent speech from the Oval Office proved. Hillary knows if she runs against Obama she will alienate the Black vote but gain the Jewish vote back. The new Hispanic voters will help offset the loss of black votes. And lets be honest, the Black voters won’t go to the Republicans. So her math equation is fairly clear:

Does Democrat-Black vote+Jewish vote+Hispanic vote= Victory?

Before Obama’s election most people felt Ms. Clinton was more experienced and competent. Now there is no doubt. Unfortunately for her, to go against Obama is to be “racist”– at least where the Black community is concerned and the Democrats can’t win without the black vote. Whites and Asians tend to vote for the Republicans. Hispanics vote 2-1 for democrats but the policy of the Democrats to help Hispanics against the best interests of Americans will help their voter turn out in the Hispanic community.

So the question remains will Ms. Clinton run in 2012 or will she wait for 2016? When can she leave the position of Secretary of State and begin her campaign in earnest? Will the stench of the Obama administration leave any residue on her or will she have an open disagreement to create a clean break with the current administration in the eyes of the American public? Perhaps over Israel? The further she can distance herself from this administration and its myriad of offenses the better for her. But how can she leave the administration without losing widespread Democrat support?

And is America ready for the “novelty” of its first Woman President after seeing/feeling the effects of our first Black President?
