This was copied from a facebook post. Might be helpful Ending a Pregnancy Ending a Pregnancy What is abortion? Abortion means ending a pregnancy early. In some cases, a woman’s pregnancy ends on its own. This is called a miscarriage, or a spontaneous abortion. In other cases, a woman chooses to end her pregnancy by taking medicine (called medical abortion) or having surgery (called surgical abortion). These 2 types of abortion are usually done in the first trimester (the first 3 months) of the pregnancy. They are performed by a doctor and other health care professionals in the hospital, doctor’s office or health center. What is medical abortion? A medical abortion is an abortion caused by medicine. It can only be done in the first 9 weeks of pregnancy. The most common type of medical abortion uses a medicine called mifepristone. This is a pill that blocks progesterone, a hormone needed for pregnancy. It causes the lining of the womb (uterus) to become thin. For this procedure, a woman visits her doctor 3 times. During the first visit, the woman takes mifepristone. She comes back a few days later to take another medicine called misoprostol. Misoprostol makes the uterus contract and empty. Many women have bleeding for about 13 days after taking misoprostol. Light bleeding or discharge (called spotting) can continue for several weeks. After a couple of weeks, the woman will return to the doctor for a follow-up visit to be sure that the medicine was effective. What does medical abortion feel like? For most women, medical abortion feels like a bad menstrual period with strong cramps, diarrhea and upset stomach. These symptoms are normal. Acetaminophen (one brand name: Tylenol) or ibuprofen (two brand names: Advil, Motrin) can help relieve the cramps. However, the doctor will want to know if any of the following occur: Bleeding through more than 2 sanitary pads in an hour Fever above 100°F for more than 4 hours Pain even after taking acetaminophen or ibuprofen How effective is medical abortion? Mifepristone is about 97% effective. In rare cases when medical abortion doesn’t work, surgical abortion may be tried. What is surgical abortion? Surgical abortion is a procedure done by a doctor to remove the lining of the womb. There are 2 common procedures: manual vacuum aspiration (MVA), and dilatation and evacuation (D&E). They both use suction to empty the womb. MVA uses a handheld tool. D&E is done with a suction machine and tools. MVA can be done in the first 12 weeks of pregnancy. D&E can be done after the first month of pregnancy and before the end of the 13th week. For both procedures, medicine can be given to help the woman feel calm. Then the doctor injects around the opening to the womb (called the cervix) with medicine to make it numb. The cervix is stretched open with a tool called a dilator, and the doctor inserts a tube. The uterus is emptied through this tube. What does surgical abortion feel like? For most women, surgical abortion feels like strong menstrual cramps. Women are usually given medicine to help with the pain and told to rest when they get home. Acetaminophen or ibuprofen can also help. Bleeding may continue off and on for a few weeks. How effective is surgical abortion? Surgical abortion is nearly 100% effective. Are abortions safe? When done by health care professionals during the first trimester, both medical and surgical abortions are generally very safe. Serious complications are rare. Abortion generally does not reduce a woman's ability to get pregnant in the future. Written by familydoctor.org |

I have been a silent follower of this thread for a number weeks. And I must tell you that it's been of tremendous help to my journey to the states to have my baby. This is my 3rd time however the stories I heard scared the s**t out of me. From this thread I learnt confidence is key even though my heart was in my mouth asvi approached the immigration officer in JFK VO: hello ma'am, what's your purpose of stay in the US Me: to have my baby VO: have you made arrangements for that Me: yes, I have an appointment with a doctor which has been paid for Vo: how much do you have on you? Me: told her VO: What do you do in Nigeria Me: told her VO: who will you be staying with Me: my aunt VO: how long will you be staying Me: 3months VO: Well I'd be stamping you in for 6 months. If that's not enough contact our office to extend it for you (the shocker statement) And that's how it went. No documents requested. Thank you all for your insight because of it I didn't need to hide my big belly |
Vek2015:Please how did you achieve up to 481 or more without either a job offer nor a provincial nomination. I am looking for ways to boost my CRS ranking from 335 to levels like yours ooo. My IELTS was an overall band of 8, i have only BSc in engineering and over 6 years work experience in supply chain, my spouse has overall band score of 6, he also has a BA in philosophy, self employed currently but 5 years work experience in Operations Management. Abeg show us way ooo. Looking forward to your input. |
solomonwis:Thanks Solomonwis. what do you advise about the verification? |
hello peeps. wonderful thread. please i need information about affordable hospitals in New York or New Hampshire where I have relatives |
Wow!!! I must commend this thread for all the valuable info shared especially by Solomonwis and other contributors. God bless your selfless service. Wish I had discovered this thread earlier, would not have wasted money on David Cohen for representation. Please my spouse and I have completed and passed our IELTS but our ECA reports are still in progress. I just received a mail from WES that they would need to verify my information from my institution, thru the help of this thread, i sent an email to oau@etx-ng.com ( went to Ife) to help me fast track this. I want to find out how long this verification thing can take and how will it impact on the 20 business days WES promised to deliver. And concerning the proof of funds, cant we just open a fixed deposit account and get donations to put in it because what we are honestly counting on is our gratuity payment which we can only get upon resignation. Abeg people help me. |
