WebmastersRe: Making A Web Link Open Up In A New Browser Window by Fayimora(m): 11:47pm On Jun 21, 2011
Yeah you can do that with javascript. just add an onClick attribute to your anchor tag and call a function which would be defined in the header of your page. So lemme just give an example off the top of my head,

<a href="" onclick="open()" > </a>

so in your head tags you should have something like this:

<script>
   function open(){
     window.open(http://www.google.co.uk);
   }
</script>

That should do your magic. Now if you have other links that would do that same, you can make you method very useful. You just need a slight change. this time you just make the function receive an argument which would be the link that would be opened. Would leave you to figure it out.

ProgrammingRe: Why Is Programming Difficult? by Fayimora(m): 11:36pm On Jun 21, 2011
Haahahah these are ma best set of replies, lmaoo,  1 weekhuh hahahaha. If i remember i used 1 week to learn each construct in programming(looping, branching, conditions, methods, e.t.c),  Now in total 3 months and I was a procedural guru(of course am in a sch but hey i do the learning myself). Now i took 2 weeks to learn each aspect of OOP. That I spent another 3months on(sch semester and again i did the learning myself). Now you move into data structures(playing around with large data) and again Algorithms(learn how to EFFECTIVELY handle data and do other stuff).

Now the plane fact is that you get to this stage and you are at a professional intermediate level. Wanna know how to connect to networks, send data tru dem, manipulate them? Wanna learn things like cryptography and encryption? Now you have reached the advanced topics and if you survive at least 5 of them(very proficient using them) then you become and advanced programmer.

Ok now say you were using Java to learn your programming. How about you try a more native language like c++? You ar already an advanced programmer so you are just going to face syntax difficulties and of course you learn new stuff like playing with memory. Now you have finished c++ to an intermediate level. You have just succeeded in increasing your job opportunities and skills.

Hey you are not done, how about manipulating files and the likes. lol now you need to learn a scripting language like perl. :p Again you have just succeeded in increasing your job opportunities and skills.

Do you want to explore? why not try out a functional language like Haskell. At a point you would would get tired of it. Time to make some money right? Yeah so what market do you want to penetrate into? Mobile apps, desktop applications, web applications?? Lets say Mobile apps, so whats your target? Android, hmmmm cool you already are advanced in java so go for it.And so on and so forth,

What am i trying to say here, absolutely everything in CS is a step by step process. One single step at a time. You said the articles are too long. Lemme tell you one of my secrets. If an article isin't long, I ain't reading it. am not saying its the truth but I knw that a long article is written by someone who has something reasonable to say(excluding the very useless ones).

Anyways i can go on and on and never stop so in essence, just like "agi-tuedor" said above, if you can't change your state of mind then programming ain't for you.

I know you can change you mind cheesy. Just believe in yourself and you would make it. It might take 4 years but trust me its worth it.

ProgrammingRe: How Do I Do My Analysis And Design? by Fayimora(m): 7:47pm On Jun 20, 2011
If you cannot design your system, you can't build it. Design is more important than the codes. Yes the codes is the life wire but what holds the life wire itself? Doing the 2 together is no bad idea. Trust me, if you have a project no matter how big, if you are able to design it properly with good UML diagrams. Coding is just going to be child's play(just as csharp said)

I remember building large programs without UML. It wasn't much fun at all cause you code --> delete -->code --> delete and it goes on and on. Wasting valuable time. If you have a specification, then get a design, then pull out UML diagrams, coding is going to be ur least problems. Nowadays, i spend more time on design than coding.

ProgrammingRe: How Do I Do My Analysis And Design? by Fayimora(m): 3:13pm On Jun 20, 2011
You saying you don't want to read any book is where you got it all wrong. People replying to your posts here wouldn't really help you. NOt that they are saying crap but you also need to understand whats going on. Now take a look at you second question. You have already been told /taught how to do it but you don't know how to bring up the story.

Analysis and Design isin't all about 1 post or 2. you need to start from the beginning. Go back to what you are running away from, A BOOK. You need a good book to fully understand these concepts. Its just like getting a plan for a building. you can't tell me that a post on nairaland would make you an architect. Absolutely NO FORUM on the internet can make you an architect. They can only help you wile you are learning or help you with little challenges you are facing.

Don't know if i made some sense here but in essence, go get articles and books related to system analysis and design. READ THEM.
ProgrammingRe: Help With C# Code by Fayimora(m): 3:05pm On Jun 20, 2011

Ermmm I ddnt expect anyone to have finished but yeah i would setup a small page where you can upload the zip file with your src and build

just so everyone knows, am more comfortable with java so those who submit with java would get quick answers

ProgrammingRe: Java Cafe by Fayimora(m): 9:20pm On Jun 13, 2011
Sounds interesting, Well you obviously gonna use 2 for loops. One that would print in x number of times on a line and another to print it x number of times vertically.

Have you tried it yet?
ProgrammingRe: Performance Of Our Moderator by Fayimora(m): 7:08pm On Jun 13, 2011
hmmm I thought i moved that topic. Sometimes these people assholes create same thing multiple times. Anyways it would help if you guys report such if not yet taken care of because it isin't that easy,

Thanks anyways and thanks to erryone for the nice comments

I would say Java

Aiit cool.lol What language you developing with?
ProgrammingRe: Performance Of Our Moderator by Fayimora(m): 2:01pm On Jun 13, 2011
Dunno what your point is but if i remember I am the moderator for this(programming) forum alone so i remove posts that are not supposed to be here and put them where they are meant to be. I don't care about other forums under Technology as they all have moderators as-well. It would help if you explain what exactly you mean by
posts not classified appropriately i.e based on relevancy into appropriate sections.
ProgrammingRe: How Do U Program? Debug As U Code Or Debug After Coding? Which Is Best? by Fayimora(m): 2:56am On Jun 12, 2011
Well i like the fact that a list is here above. Now when you say debug. Thats something very very big. Now depending on what you are developing, debug as you code and then do a final debug before testing.
Ok that might have sounded strange so am gonna explain better.

When you write 5 classes of code that are probably aggregated, debug your code and make sure you aint gat no errors. A test class might be helpful here. You do the same as you go on an then when you are done you do a full debug which would go along side with testing(a beta stage). In this stage, you have done all necessary coding and whatsoever that has to do with code, then you debug and test. Both as I said would go at the same time.

Now as you grow into it, you would realise that you don't have to test until the whole application is done. Of course that depends on how much practice you have put into it.

goodluck
ProgrammingRe: If You Are Thinking Of Picking Computer Programming As A Career by Fayimora(m): 12:36pm On Jun 11, 2011
PLease edit your link and correct it,
ProgrammingRe: Java Cafe by Fayimora(m): 5:26pm On Jun 10, 2011
Well firstly you have to code it. Secondly you need to implement a user interface and thirdly you deploy. You have to go tru those stages. I dnt think i shud explain more as if you research well on each of these stages you would understand what's up.

No offence but it seems to be that you cannot even write d code to do the 1+1. So get to it cheesy
